Reminder that if you play a bass and "can play a bit of guitar" or "I tried the guitar but It wasnt my thing" it just means that you're a loser who failed at guitars and so decided to pick up an instrument that is very similar but in which you generally dont have to play more than 1 fret at once and which can be played at a very slow speed.
The electric bass is, quite literally, an instrument for losers. Prove me wrong.
"ok"
Cuz without it music would sound empty.

I think Scaruffi sometimes offers interesting insight on an album whether I agree with his score or not but then again I'm not at OP's level of autism.

Why do rappers constantly ruin their albums with "skits"?
Example; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTBI51JmnF8
Kanye ruins one of the best songs from an amazing album because he felt that having chris fuking rock talking on the phone for 5 minutes added some artistic merit??? I don't understand it.
Because children (most rap fans) find them funny.

IDK I'm not a huge fan of the part, but its one of the main parts that me and all my boys would shout out the words, I think those moments you share make them more classic
Should I see Swans live if I'm more a fan of their older albums?
Don't get me wrong, their latest albums are incredible, but I love Swans most for albums like Holy Money, White Light from the Mouth of Infinity, and Children of God. I'd have to take a 6 hour bus ride and go to NYC to see them on July 30th.
Don't see them. I saw them live and left 1/4 through. Unimaginably boring
>>66146692
Most people who go really have a good time though..,,
OP here. What I mean is, how many older songs do they play? I watched Mr. Fantano's review, and it sounded like he only recognized like 1 song from their 80s or 90s days played. Thats mainly why I'd want to go, to hear something from those albums live. But kinda wouldn't want to travel that far, pay for the bus/concert ticket to hear only stuff from the new album.
The sound of their recent albums is very post-rock, and if I wanted to see post-rock live, I'd probably pay to see some other band, not Swans.
Why does the bass on the White Album sounds like "plek plek plek plek"
>>66146647
Superior Rick bass picking. Thumps instead of hums.
>>66146656
Yeah, that's Paul on a Richenbacher instead of a Hofner.
The White Album has a pretty raw sound compared to their other works imo. Ratty bass was one product of this, and songs like Helter Skelter and While My Guitar Gently Weeps show this really well. They were also doing a lot of plugging into the board at the time, or recording at really loud volumes (there's an anecdote of them doing yer blues in a tiny room with the amps facing the walls and mics sandwiched in between them.)
On Helter Skelter john lennon played bass on the track and used a Fender VI

Which is the most /mu/ city and why is it Austin?
Pyongyang
I dunno I'm in Austin and last year I picked Philly for best city 2015 but this years SXSW was very awesome even if Everything Everything cancelled one show right before they went on and their other show started before they let in non-wristbands. Both times fucked my schedule up very badly but that's why there's always about 3 backup shows.
