holy fuck
are you me
i was just about to post something about Cygnet Comittee, the ending got to me
David Bowie has just made me realize, there are no more actual big prolific rock stars with strong mainstream presence anymore.
Can you think of any rock artists that produced music in various genres and collaborated with various artists and participated in various art spheres? As much as it hurts me to say it, Thom Yorke is quite possibly the last prolific, "big" mainstream rock star.
>Electronic Listening Music general.
Who have you been listening to lately?
DJ Andy Scott- s/t
>I am smarter than you and i like to listen to electronic music and not dance to it.
can someone explain why ambient even exists?
there are no lyrics, it is devoid of any poetic beauty. and the melodies are simple as fuck
Are those your only criteria for music?
ambient is supposed to be background music
melodies and lyrics don't matter, it's all about t e x t u r e s
I mean, it is fucking AMBIENT, what do you expect?
>a score of 3.96 with over 2400 ratings
This is going to be one of the most highly rated records of the decade. it will be remembered as a classic.
And deservedly so, the album is incredible.
I liked the album but it's pretty clear people are rating it higher than they would have because he died. People are really easy to sway with shit like this and it's made even worse if you have something based on thousands of them. I remember the Pop Group's album last year getting decent ratings before P4K gave it a shitty score and then the rating dropped like a rock. Doesn't really bother me though.

People are rating this higher because he died because the fact he died helps them understand the concept of this album.
it's a mediocre album

Tell me about Jean Luc Ponty
>>61681519
Ponty is unabashedly cheesy but he's got a good sense for melody and song structure so
>it's day 2 of the post-bowie era
How are you all holding up?
I'm not
>>61681278
I basically forgot everything on my way out the door so pretty scatterbrained.
Listening to Dollar Days, my eyes are watering up. Just listen to it, he really wanted to live so goddamn badly.
Which is the best Bowie album?
>>61681219
The Man Who Sold the World
Station to Station is my favorite, but The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust is generally regarded as his best album.
>>61681219
You posted it
Related note, did anyone else come close to tearing up when you heard "A New Career in A New Town" playing in "I Can't Give Everything Away" at the end of Blackstar?
You have 10 seconds to post a picture with more talent.
Is anyone else really depressed right now? I'm not usually one to be floored by a celebrity's death but I grew up listening to Bowie. He was a type of person who was so weird, you sort of expect them to be there forever. It's kinda hard to explain, but his weirdness and creativity just gave off this vibe that he was immortal. I guess it's just a grim reminder that every one of us will croak one day or another.

>his weirdness and creativity just gave off this vibe that he was immortal
I keep hearing this repeated and it sounds so dumb. when blackstar came out how did you not think "wow he looks pretty old he's not gonna be around for much longer"
But he is immortal, anon. He will always be alive whenever someone listens to one of his albums.
>>61679296
I guess I knew in the back of my head that it was going to happen sooner or later, but I'm still pretty shaken that it happened just now. I guess it's kinda like that with everyone. You know your parents will die one day, but that doesn't make it any easier on the day that they do pass away.
What would be your honest-to-god reaction if Bowie came back as one of his characters and his death was a publicity stunt?
>>61678643
BRAVO BOWIE
>>61678643
mild surprise
wouldn't even be mad
I think the mainstream media reaction would be furious though
