He was literally the musical equivalent of Genghis Khan, He walked into a scene, conquered it, and then moved on. He did it with glam, soul, post punk, and funk, all within just an 11 year period.
His greatest achievement was doing soul better than any black artist ever could with Young Americans, and actually getting the approval of the african american audience in the process. No other white artist has ever replicated that.
