THE ONLY PLACE
WHERE YOUUUU CAN DREAM
tfw you just wanna show someone all your wares
Thoughts on this album? Frank Zappa in general?
the tracks where he tries to sound like jazz aren't very good DESU
Peaches En Regalia is one of the best Zappa tracks though, Willie the Pimp is pretty good and Gumbo Variations is a pretty cool jam
one thing that always bother me is that I first got this as the Ryko CD that has a longer 17 minute version of Gumbo Variations and it still just sounds wrong to me every time when it starts "mid-track"

I fucking love gumbo variations it literally makes me cum
Some good guitar on this album
I'm not a big fan of death cab or most of there discography but this album one of there more older albums broke my top 3 fav albums of all time. It blew my mind away and I love it. Anyone else heard it? What did you think of it? Favorite songs?
I personally think the best song on the album is title track. But the whole album is gold desu.
yeah its good
Although I'm personally more of a photo album guy facts is indeed pretty great. IMO I will follow you into the dark is still their greatest song tho
The best track is No Joy In Mudville and yeah it's in my top 5 too. I love the overarching theme of doing bad and irresponsible things to yourself even you know it's a bad idea. Most of the time artists use drags as a catalyst for this theme but young relationships is a much better of making it relatable and therefore reflective upon the listener. The best part about this album is if you took away the lyrics and vocals you'd still feel everything it's trying to convey albeit less specifically.
I always hear classical snobs calling Bach "mechanical," "lifeless," "austere," or "background music." I never understood it; Bach's shit was always mad emotional to me.
As a guy who knows next to nothing psued-tunes, I've always found Mozart's music much more tepid and sterile.
>>61963146
Bach was a fuccboi
Prove me wrong
>>61963146
they're straight retarded
you want lifeless? Go listen to Mozart it's boring as fuck and _that_ is background music for rich people to listen to while they powder their wigs and eat their crumpets or whatever the fuck
Bach made music for the only person who matters (our lord and savior jesus christ)
Do you think he is going to make lifeless music for our lord? Tell those classical fags to go fuck themselves or tell them to meet me at this starbucks if they have any shit to be talking...

you're welcome
>>61963113
I still dont get it..
Why does /mu/ thinks hes actually any good?
>>61963450
Explain why he isn't
I only listened to blackstar after bowie died, and listening to it with that context i cant imagine how anyone could interpret it as anything other than an album about his death. Particularly with tracks like pic related.
/mu/sicians who listened to it before he died, how did you interpret the album?
>>61963062
So I always assumed it was about his death, but I didn't realize he made it knowing he would die immediately after. It's pretty obvious though, looking back on it.
>>61963062
i thought the title track music video was just the next step of the major tom story, but still about bowie's legacy living on (the shots of him holding up the blackstar book). like, major tom being the final boss of the bowie-verse
bowie was heavily into the occult, the album serves as a magic ritual spell regardless of whether or not it has his death all over the record.
bowie like crowley before him founded his own magical society and I think most of the people who have worked with him int eh music business are a part of this strictly "pop music" secret society.
Blackstar isn't remorseful, bowie is remorseful. Blackstar is as close to bowie ever "coming out" as he could safely do, its a sign of allegiance a point of pride.
Is anything beyond 2nd wave post rock worth listening to?

to the guy in teh last thread who said his isp is a copyright hound because they sent his roommate a notice: get over it, millions of people get notices and nothing happens because of it

Also getting ISP notices for production resources literally never happens.

That's a good one. Kinda reminds me of Limb from Limb too.
>>61962652
I just wish they'd replace their vocalist. He's techniquely proficient; Its just that i hate the timbre of his voice. Scurrilous is still a fun album though
