Hey /mu/ what do you think about the vocal samples on this thing? I think they kinda ruin the album
>not liking garage style vocals
i give up on this board
>>61979202
vocals are the best of the album
Part of its soul for me. I don't mind them.

> Bowie was a protagonist of his times, although a poor musician: to say that Bowie is a musician is like saying that Nero was a harp player (a fact that is technically true, but misleading). Bowie embodies the quintessence of artificial art, raises futulity to paradigm, focuses on the phenomenon rather than the content, makes irrelevant the relevant, and, thus, is the epitome of everything that went wrong with rock music.
What do you think /mu/? Did bowie commercialise what was good about rock?

Scaruffi? Didn't realise this was the talentless hack thread

>Faux nostalgia
Not really at all, the sound on the album is very unique and different from his earlier work
>Because of his death
It had 85 on metacritic before he'd died. People dug it anyway, it just became even better in context.
>>61979195

Relapse is the most underrated rap album of all time.
Debate me.
he should have named it "Prolapse" cuz it's the audio equivalent of some old whore (aka ur mom) shitting her asshole inside out

/thread
Anyone else think he will be seen as more important than Beatles, Elvis or Michael Jackson in the near future?
>>61978963
He will be remembered as someone who changed music and popular culture more than any single artist. Beatles only really changed it once, and reinvented themselves once.
>>61978963
Who made that cancerous picture

Me.
desu rarely do I see anything interesting in these threads. people immediately go to the obvious answers like buyers market and whitehouse.

Scottish bassist Jimmy Bain - longtime member of Rainbow/Dio - is dead at 68. Other projects of his included the band Wild Horses, Thin Lizzy singer Phil Lynott's solo albums, and the more recent band "Last in Line."

That sucks. Kinda wishing St Vincent gets hit by a bus in the near future.
January has claimed many victims but there is still 1 week left. Who else is gonna die?
BAIN?
>tfw love old country/bluegrass music but can't relate to it's mostly religious lyrics

ITT: Artists you won't give a damn when they die.
Why's that OP? I really like the Stones.
Bob Dylan (overrated, urgh)
Paul McCartney (good, and still active but creatively dead since the 80s)
Eric Clapton (another damn dad rocker)
Ozzy Osbourne (did he actually make music?)
Has anyone successfully transitioned from being a rapper to working in another genre or vice versa?
Artists in other genres seem to regularly hop between genres but I can't think of any rappers who came from or went into another style and pulled it off.
Beck is maybe the closest I can think of
Lou Reed

Dee Dee Ramone

I said "successful" transition. I know in the 80s a bunch of artists made novelty rap songs.
/mu/ when did you realise pop was a legitimate genre and hating it needlessly was just stupid.
Right about here.
