This is so much fucking better than I expected it to be. Plebs listen to this? I'm honestly surprised.
>>63681281
Plebs don't listen to it anymore
>>63681287
I know a few personally.
Sonically it's overwhelming how advanced it still sounds now, this is like the era of ace of base but it basically hasn't dated a day soundwise.

Streets of Rage OSTs are god-tier. Start with two, if you want crazier shit go to three, and if you want more disco-ey stuff go to the first one.
If you want more general chiptune recs I can give some, but they aren't actual soundtracks
>>63680416
Yeah, Megaman has some choice tracks. Pokemon. Def check out Earthbound. Lots of Final Fantasy stuff.
It usually works out if a game is good it's often got a good soundtrack.
Splatoon recently. Jet Set Radio is awesome.
Anything Mario, lots of Nintendo stuff really.
I really like the Lovely Planet OST.
Nuclear Throne.
Can't help you too specifically sorry.

is james jamerson the best funk bass player?
>>63679720
my preference would go to Bootsy, for legacy and such, but he sure scores well in the race. if I remember correctly, he played on like 90% of the Motown releases during the seventies, something I got to respect him for

Post what you are listening to RIGHT NOW or be forever cursed with memes in metal generals
eh
I was just listening to the first Bosse-de-Nage, the one that collects earlier demos; it's not bad at all. It still has the 90s post-hardcore influence but it's significantly decreased, the vocalist is more -but not completely- traditionally wretched and it's nowhere near as emotionally saturated. It sounds more like a second wave band that has heard some Sonic Youth or Fugazi.

I realized about one month ago how powerful and complex music is. I used to think music was only the catchy shit you hear on the radio or billboard top 50. Anything different would sound like noise. Now, I can put it on the same level as literature, cinematography, paintings, and sculpture. How the fuck was I so ignorant /mu/? I feel like I have wasted so much time looking at a blank wall.
When did you get to appreciate music on a deep level /mu/ and what popped your cherry (album or song)?
>25 years in, and The Great Gig In the Sky.
While Any Colour You Like is instrumental, it has been speculated that the song ties to The Dark Side of the Moon concept by considering the lack of choice one has in human society, while being deluded into thinking one does. It is also speculated that the song is about the fear of making choices. The origin of the title is unclear.
The first half of the song repeats the same few notes on the keyboard except they play it faster, slower, backwards. and forwards to create the illusion of listening to different things. It cleverly shows how people are mislead into thinking...

Sounds gay, but I think Death Grips actually widened my view on music and how different it can be. Now I really appreciate music as something more, not just a catchy shit, but as an art and self-expression. But with that there is also the fact that I can't go back to listen to some entry-level shit, there is only going deeper
>>63675209
I had an experience like this, but with Fugazi instead of Death Grips
it's that point where you realize the conventionally "ugly," or abrasive, can still be artful and, in fact, beautiful. I think anyone serious reaches that place, but with different artists
