Hey guys, I've never seen a thread quite like this and I was wondering if you all wouldn't mind starting one. I'm curious about the musicians that frequent this board. What instruments do you play? What music do you create?
I'm also interested in getting a discussion started about bands; more specifically, what method do you use to create music as a group? What works about it/ what does not?
Finally, I'm looking for songs to play on acoustic bass for a cover band that I'm starting, I was wondering if I could get some suggestions. I'm...

What
>>63878485
There's no "musicians" on this board.
>>63878485
>What instruments do you play?
Piano, Drums, Guitar, saying 30 different keyboards doesn't really count, just getting this one out of the way when somebody starts listing off a bunch of keyboards or says they play synth.
>What music do you create?
You mean what genre? Idk, I'd probably kill myself if I had to make music according to genres.

What is their best album? I've only listened to Out of Time.
Murmur, Lifes Rich Pageant and Automatic for the People
>>63878322
Murmur or Automatic for the People are the most popular choices
New Adventures in Hi-Fi.
No one talks about this album and it makes me quite sad. It has some of their best ever work on it, and is one of the few albums I loved on the very first listen.
Features some more experimental, longer songs. Most songs were recorded on tour and touched up in the studio. It's a mix of their more acoustic stuff and some harder tunes. There are no standout "pop singles" like on Out of Time/Automatic, but plenty of brilliant songs that probably should have been hits.
It also sounds a teeny bit Radiohead-esque to me,...

Why is this album so much better than everything else he's done? It feels like I'm listening to an entirely different band.
>>63878241
Because Trent.
>>63878241
Because he was on a massive power trip and doped out of his mind when he made this album, as the title suggests.
He was starting to deal with the effects of success in a really weird and meta-level way. keep in mind that his shtick up until then was to parody the concept of "role models for children" and he was involuntarily turning into a role model of his own, his fanbase was getting big enough for him to be interviewed on TV, he had groupies suck his dick and stalk him, and all that shit scared...

Trent made the sound of the album, but the concept and the ambition was already there before him.

Is opera singing on a technical and artistical level the highest form of singing??
if you see my nigga
>pic related
sing with other world stars, he btfo's them so hard, like what the fuck is going on?
The discrepancy in quality seems so high to me between opera and non-opera singers. Check pavarotti singing with friends on jewtube for example
maybe its just pavarotti being that good i dunno.
Captain Beefheart had a wider vocal range than Pavarotti.
Opera singing technique is apparently much better for your vocal chords than "normal" singing.
Would it be autistic of me to email Dan Barrett for dating advice?

He seems like someone who has been through shit related to low self-esteem etc and I desperately need a father / older brother figure in my life.
