About a year ago I used to listen to Monstercat and other mixed bag channels like that, /mu/ told me that was crap and that I should refine my music taste so I did and for about the past year I've been looking into /mu/core and things like Pitchfork best of lists.
A year later and there's been about 3 albums I actually enjoyed and the rest of is barely worth having an opinion about. It isn't specific to one genre or musical taste, it's ubiquitously just not very good. It sounds like they had a case of writer's block and they just went with it...

listen to whatever you want, I don't give a shit about most of the /mu/core myself

what 3 albums?
anyway, it sounds like you're spending way too much time here. dial it down and stop letting strangers groom your subjective opinions on the internet, and try an instrument so you can appreciate stuff more

It's far from my fav albums but it's pretty good, at first listen i thought it was pretentious as fuck but it has some real good songwriting and the album is really cohesive.

So, it's taken a few months, but I finally have everyone in my band on board with my nonsense.
We're going to do an extended range tech-death cover of a famous progressive rock song as the beginning of the next chapter of our extended career suicide.
Got some ideas to bounce and questions to ask though, /mu/ -
>Fretless or fretted bass for the most part of an album that would follow suit of something like Arsis or Archspire covering Yes? I plan on using both, but not sure where to lead the material yet.

so you're not writing your own material?

We've got a double album more or less ready to go, following the single album we're releasing in a month.
We're thinking about some ideas for an EP to shop to bigger labels, and also for bonus tracks... something to show off our hard work in the woodshed, but that would be at least somewhat recognizable as music.

well first you need to make your writing more clear, as it is currently jumbled and confusing.
let's start with,
>extended range tech-death
what does this mean exactly?
and I assume you mean the bit about career suicide ironically?
Does the very high pitched noise in True Love Waits annoy you too?
Do you hear it too?
What were they thinking when they left it there in the final version?
Proof that the noise exists
>>66506665
Yeah it's a bit annoying but I don't think it detracts from the song too much though
>>66506665
That's just how Thom sings.
>>66506664
it's bad
What's the name of the album under odessey?
is his verse on "that part" the worst verse of all time? it's the TDKR of rap verses
That means its the best though.
