Tell me one album that fundamentally transformed your life.
Pic related for me.

Act appalled, stop the fucking car, and we're all thieves are 3 of my favorite songs
This album is gold, Saosin's Translating the Name EP is one for me probably because Anthony Green.
>>64372296
If you think that album is great, you HAVE to hear Violent Waves.
>ExMilitary just copied Insane Clown Posse's shtick & added ~~edgy~~ sampling
>Autists come out of the woodwork & love it because it gives then the same 'cool' feel that the juggalos thrive on but they can pretend to be some kind of underground artsy fuck

icp was pretty dank
can i get some dark country/folk singer-songwriter recs? There was a specific album I was trying to remember the name of, but I forgot, the cover had the sort of art style you'd see on like the series of unfortunate events books with a guy leaning over a piano...it's sad drinking album with very long songs.
anyway, folk and some light emo would be fine too. Like, Keaton Henson and whatnot. I already know Nick cave and Tom Waits.
kind of a long shot but is this the album you were looking for?
>>64372148
you're thinking of this, right?
Anyways, you should check out Townes Van Zandt and Jackson C. Frank.

So, I'm very enthusiastic about making electronic music for recreational purposes, but I don't want to spend much on expensive softwares or VSTs nor use garbage free software. What /mu/ has to offer ?
>>64372086
there are plenty of good free VSTs. do 5 minutes of research you child
>>64372169
All the ones I've found were pretty bad, and none of them went close to what I was looking for. I don't consider piracy as an option.
>>64372337
i just use the stock plugins that come with the daw
they will do you good
Since when was Father John Misty the top 40-core of the indie folk scene?
>publications love his shitty derivative music that appeals to indie teens with limited exposure to music outside of a p44k-approved bubble
>writing credits for beyonce, lana del rey etc...
>adored by plebeian normies
inb4 some thick rimmed hipster nu-male tries to tell me that fleet foxes are actually good

Opinions on this? Based Parker imo. She deserved it for taking a fucking selfie on stage and it wasn't even any power to the kick. If it was a guy no one would have given a shit. Fuck the people comkplaining about this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nClngy4-o4
>Better angle of the kick 55:40
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nClngy4-o4
>News and betas crying about how wrong it is
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWJs-bxZUDM
Tbh, the kick was too much but still why the fuck would you take a selfie on the fucking stage? Plus Parker does that shit alot, not just to girls. Really people only noticed because it was a girl baka.
Also
>That asian girl whose those fake "nerd" glasses complaining about "HURR THE BAND NEEDS TO LOOK AFTER THE KIDS, WE CAN'T LET THE KIDS GET HURT"
Bitch probably never went to a metal/punk show baka
The guy is a sexist asshole and everyone who defends this needs to go back to their MRA containment board. This guy is probably thinks he's in the 50s like the fedora permavirgin he is and thinks he can just beat a woman without any consequences. Maybe someone should tell him that we live in a society where men and women are equal.

Worst bait of 2016
I want to pick up an instrument. Everyone wants to play guitar and every plays the piano, and I've been thinking what I would have the most fun playing.
I wanna learn how to play drums, I just got my own house and have a lot of free time so I can actually learn them. How long do they take to play at a high level? Anyone here got experience?
Post songs with the most amazing drums to inspire me
>>64371834
i wouldnt learn from ear my dude, watch a couple videos that show tutorials on how to get you started. continue on once you pick up from that and then play along with music.

>>64371834
Never played real drums, but played it on expert on Rock band. What I can tell you is that you should practice your rhythm. Don't get stress out when you realize you suck. Every musician thinks they suck when they start out. You'll get better.
>>64371919
thanks man, I wasn't planning on it. My mom got a set from a garage sale so I'm just gonna mess around on them. And I meant just songs with great drums just to inspire me to want to learn, not to learn how to play from
What's /mu/'s opinion on Wavves?
From the first album to King of the Beach, really great. Everything after that is a fucking shame.
>>64371806
First two albums are meh, KOTB is fantasic, Afraid of Heights, while flawed, is also fantastic, V is Nathan being afraid of being criticized for leaving his surf-pop-punk bubble so writing a really uninspired samey album, and I just want him to have another public breakdown causing him to become creative and interesting again
Also the Lift Sux EP is GOAT

Will we ever get another album after his son died?
He's going to put Eric Clapton to shame.
let's be real, nick cave's next album is going to be fucking amazing
yes. it's gonna be a collection of the same morose barely crafted ballads he's been farting out since The Good Son.
I WAS THERE
You still suck.
BUT HAVE YOU SEEN MY RECORDS?

KAAAANGZ
hi /mu/. do you like cocteau twins? what's your favorite album from them?
Favorite band, anon.
I like everything but I suppose maybe Treasure or Victorialand, although I like the album with Harold Budd.
Really, listen to everything. Especially any EP from the mid-late '80s.
head over heels!
>>64371515
my favorite band too, love everything by them.
favorite is heaven or las vegas, currently listening to victorialand and elizabeth's voice is making me cry
Deerhunter is in town. Are they a good live show? Worth $20?
>>64371402
Bump
I'm a St. louis fag too.
The storm is kinda hindering my ability to go.
Saw them for $20 last week. It was the day after their Coachella performance and I think I got a better show.
Definitely recommended. Loudest band I've seen live, too
