After 10 zillion "/mu/'s favorite albums" lists have been made, let's make one for musicians.
Post a musician/band (post as many as you want per post) and I'll add it to a list. Once the thread is over, I'll post a thread where you can vote on it.

True.
why are women so shit at making experimental music?
nothing to see here, folks
because they have no frame of reference
>>64393965
Because they do it for attention like everything else. They dont want to do hard work.Of course you can always find a few good women musicians but they are EXCEPTION.

How do you define Vapourwave and what is some essential listening?
It's one of those words I always see floating around but have no idea what it really means.

Are these artists or are you having a stroke?
>>64393708
those are bad artists. They're kind of a filter: if you can still find something interesting in them but are lucid enough to realize that they suck, then you're ready to dig into the actual good stuff.
>>64393683
Vaporwave is to 80s/90s pop culture what martial industrial is to fascism.
Originally a parodic take on it that eventually grew into a legit movement that tries to recapture the same feeling through sampling and sound distortion.

Best pure rap artist of the 2010s
>things 14 year olds say
>>64393678
He has the potential to be remembered like a DOOM, it depends on the direction his music goes. I agree that he's headed for legend status no doubt.
Why does it seem completely pointless to attempt a music career.
You can think you're the hottest shit since active pickups but there's always gonna be a million 12 year olds / Asians / autists who are better than you. And most of them don't even make it.
Plus if you want to cut a label you better be ready to suck some cock, or have your creative control be stepped on.
Modern day, you need to be a chick, a pussy, or an ignorant rip artist to make it. That's all people are into, so that's all labels sign for.
Talent and soul get you nowhere...

i hate pics of children
Call me an idealist but if you want to be a famous musician then you're just as bad as the labels and mainstream public you hate. Play and write music for love of it, record it and distribute it for love of storytelling and spreading the word.
Either you wont be famous but got to do what you love or you might be lucky and an indie that slips through. In the case of the latter you can choose between sucking cock or staying true to yourself and going back to obscurity with a slightly bigger fanbase
>>64393495
You're wrong OP. There has never been an easier time to break in to the music business. Anyone with a computer can do home recording now. The major labels don't have the power they used to and the internet allows everyone to distribute their music free. Don't be a a douche. If you're driven and have talent, you'll get noticed. If not, then you suck. It's that simple.
ITT: Big artists most underrated songs
I'll start with David Bowie's Letter to Hermione
Wish he'd written a few more personal lyrics like this in his career: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yfbZK7eKI4

Who knew he ever read Harry Potter...makes you think.

Real good stuff there dood :^)
>>64393492
yeah, and who knew he knew Hermione?
Should my first DAW be Abtleton?
Or what do you think a novice like me should start with?
in the time it takes to wait for replies you could be doing the tutorial and practicing
Your first DAW should be none because DAWs serve no purpose in the real music world and actual music is done via actual instruments.
Do you want to be like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dIcuU58Oy8
