If you think Courtney Love didn't murder Kurt, you're a fucking idiot.

Trip hop
There is lots of downbeat breaks + soul style music still being made though. Trip hop proper IMO is only 3 artists.
not a real genre

Here are 6 different pictures from around the same time and he looks completely different in all of them.I sense that he might be a reptilian shapeshifter and also the reason why he makes so good music.
What race is he anyway? His name is Italian but he looks half black with his nappy hair and flat nose.
Maybe he's Sicilian or some shit???

Why is TKOL so hated? It's a great album on it's own just as In Rainbows, HTTT, Amnesiac, OKC.
>Bloom
>Morning Mr. Magpie
>Little By Little
>Lotus Flower
>Codex
>Seperator
I can not understand how someone who doesn't hate Radiohead or see them as a meme can hate these songs.
>>64599195
Morning mr magpie and little by little are just dull and have cheezy kettle drums
Blooms repetive drum beat was kinda moronic and a lot of the tracks abruptly and lamely went back into a third verse from a good bridge
best radiohead songs often have a verse chorus, verse chorus bridge end structure
3 verses was lame and didnt let the songs breath very well
nice atmosphere on codex, separator and give up the ghost though
The endless looping got tedious, it wasn't produced particularly well. Morning Mr. Magpie is horrifically jarring and an unpleasant listening experience, Little by Little is a professional piss take.
Bloom is a masterpiece and it definitely carried the album, but the whole album fell flat at the feet of In Rainbows.
Burn the Witch on the other hand is a masterpiece and the first thing I've heard from them that rivals In Rainbows.
The best songs from the TKOL period were Bloom, Feral and The Butcher. Everything else is mediocre.
TKOL live > studio
Burn The Witch is exactly what I was expecting from TKOL. A dark, more introspective and twisted In Rainbows. It's absolutely perfect, anyone who says otherwise is a fucking idiot.

its great. i didnt like it at first because... i dont know why, i guess the hype was just too real. but the day after, and especially two days after now, i really really like it. and that fucking production man. usually i prefer a bit of a messier, lo-fi sound, but this song is mixed so perfectly and detailed i absolutely love it. if the whole album has this type of instrumentation and dark sound then it will be fucking amazing.
>>64599190
Couldn't agree more, although I immediately loved it on first listen. I've had a much better reaction with this than I did with Lotus Flower. And I think it's so funny that people are disregarding Ed, we haven't even heard the new album yet.
i realy want to like this track but it's meh for me idk too simple, no chills. the sound is awesome tho, just hope it's the most commercial sounding on the album...

What did Stefan Burnett do during his 20s?
Do you think he lived a wild and interesting life, or did he just work part-time at the pizza place and paint and blaze it in his spare time?

>Do you think he lived a wild and interesting life, or did he just work part-time at the pizza place and paint and blaze it in his spare time?
>did he just work part-time at the pizza place and paint and blaze it in his spare time?
that's pretty wild and interesting compared to most of society
>>64598850
he probably didn't do anything but shitty jobs and drugs
isn't he brother like some kind of fake rap gangster? those type of guys do literally nothing, probably sold weed too

>did he just work part-time at the pizza place and paint and blaze it in his spare time?
fuck I wish my life was that interesting
Hey /mu/, I'll be honest here, I have absolutely no clue how music/sound editing works. What I'm trying to do is make a song sound like it came from the 80s.
Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mv78UsrZ07g
How should I approach this? What kind of tool or software should I use?
Reverb and excessive modulation

>What I'm trying to do is make a song sound like it came from the 80s.
You mean you want to try to do that one thing that became flavour of the month after Drive and Hotline Miami that every talentless fuckwit started to do and ran into the ground faster than a fat guy on a threadmill breathing cyanide? Nobody wants to hear that shit anymore. It was shallow and vapid from the very start and everyone is already sick of it.
You probably weren't even born in the 80s.

God damn this post is everything wrong with music nowadays.
Just a little nerd fishing for (You)s by being as fakely cynical and contrarian as possible, and then coming up with a very transparent excuse to validate his dismissal

What's Gorillaz best album and why is it The Fall?
Agreed
Since it was made on an iPad, some of the sounds are pretty mediocre but there's a dark atmosphere to the album which makes it the only Gorillaz album that I can take somewhat seriously.
It has a very nostalgic sound to it that I enjoy
Demon days>the fall>gorrillaz>plastic beach>b sides
The Fall wasnt bad but really it produced no real memorable tracks or tracks with any staying power. I get that the feel was just "oh hey we experimented with a bunch of stuff" but in the end it just sounds like a product of boredom. Considering how the album was made, on an iPad while touring, ofc production values arent going to be insane, and the tracks do have a unique sound, but nothing about the tracks really solidifies them as ground breaking or extremely enjoyable, it all just sounds super mediocre.
>falling for the "Lana Del Rey sucks" meme
Wew lad
>original.png
lol
People don't actually think she sucks, though, right? Maybe you might think she's bad as in she's not your taste, but hey, it'd be kind of weird if everyone felt the same way about one person's music.
ive never heard a lana del rey song in my liife
I just watched a Q&A with Wynton Marsalis where he claimed that music doesn't "advance". This was in response to a kid who asked how he felt about the future of jazz and how to balance traditionalism with the advancement of the genre (fantastic question in my opinion).
He gave this really vague answer about how Bach and Louis Armstrong both share the same creativity or something, then said that we should disrespect our ancestors.
I feel like he totally missed the point of the question, which was clearly directed at the stagnation of the genre...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
It does push boundaries still, you just need to embrace modern technology.
Adapt or die as the cockroach said to the dinosaurs.
Shouldn't* disrespect our ancestors
oops
Wynton Marsalis is full of shit. This has been known forever. His entire career is based off of being le jazz defener
ITT: Post some "what does he even do" tier musicians
Rumour is he's only allowed in so that nobody can say they're simply a band of manlets
>>64597941
I'll be honest, I'm not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean musicians like Pitbull, who are asked to collab on good songs just so they can ruin them?
>>64597980
Can you tell me exactly what Ed Obrien does on 90% of post-2000 Radiohead songs?
Do you know any androgynous voice ? In both ways, meaning a man with an ambiguous female voice, and a female with a strong male voice
I heard one of Shamir's songs on the radio and thought it was a woman until quite a bit later.

Listening to "Vegas" from Shamir...
Wow. Totally what I was looking for. I need more.

Rock would've just grown out of European folk. We wouldn't have hip-hop and possibly jazz though.
