this kid is cringey as fuck
im a new kid in reference to stoner/desert rock
i am, however, loving it. i want to know what the best in the genre is. any recommendations or sharing would be immensely appreciated.
also, i was told kyuss essentially was the start of desert rock in general, & by extension a massive influence on stoner rock. is that true? is there anything thats TRULY desert rock that didnt start with them? if i sound ignorant, i am. im not trying to bait, im curious.
did they get better as Queens Of The Stone Age, or worse? where do i go from here? i like kyuss' more...

QOTSA is a great band and there's lots of debate over which albums are better but it's generally agreed that they don't have any "bad" albums
beloved bands include
>Electric Wizard
>Sleep
>Melvins (sometimes)
>Clutch
>The Atomic Bitchwax
>Boris

It's their best intro song.

>Thom: I USED TO RULEEEEEE THE W-
>Jonny: No Thom, we already stole that song with 'Burn The Witch' remember? Try something else.
>Thom: *plays Clocks piano riff (poorly)*
>Jonny: That's another Coldplay song Thom, we need to look elsewhere for inspiration.
>Thom: Oh, I thought it was David Guetta. Okay I'll think of something.

Proper lolling. Stolen and saved for pasta purposes.
when will people accept that metal is the best genre?
> all band members have great technical musical ability unlike rap and pop artists
> requires classical compositional skills unlike rock, jazz, and punk
> typically has incredibly emotional and intellectual lyrics that really make you think
so in conclusion metal is objectively the highest form of musical art
agreed
Metal is great, but it's hopelessly stuck in the past...
Literally the only subculture, where 70-80%of a fesitvals line up are made up of 80s bands.

You bait stinks.
>he doesn't use Google Play music
Why wouldn't you want to be able to access your library no matter what device you're on? I can understand just hosting the files yourself but I can almost guarantee that most of /mu/ doesn't do that.

the app is ugly as fuck on iOS
Spotify is better looking. I put my own music in my Music app through iTunes because I have 64gb phone.
Anyone who's stupid enough to buy a 16gb iPhone in 2016 should be ashamed.
I'm poor and have a budget of 100 dollars for a (preferably) over-ear set of headphones. Any recommendations?
Get as many of the cheapest earbuds you can find. That way when they inevitably break you have backups.
Forgot to write that I'd prefer some that don't leak sound.
>>64634365
Look up the hifimans on mass drop currently
99$, fully open, normally 300$.
If you don't like open back headphones/semi open, sorry, that's the only type I own so I can't really personally recommend others.
Had Mercury Rev permanently disbanded after Boces, would they have been remembered as the greatest rock band of all time?
No because we wouldn't have Deserter's and there are at least 3 dozen better bands that have existed.
>>64634381
Deserter's Songs is hugely overrated, and I'm not just saying this because it had lush production and strings. I think that the Soft Bulletin is by far the best thing the Flaming Lips ever did, but they were more of a pop band than Mercury Rev were, so that style fit them. The element of madness that David Baker brought to Mercury Rev paired with Jonathan Donahue's more whimsical tone created a unique contrast which is part of what made early Mercury Rev one of the greatest bands of all time. Combining...
