The way I imagine it Ember in the beginning sat on Anon's lap with her thighs going outwards over Anon's thighs.
Since Anon's legs are slightly spread open there is a gap between them where Ember can put her tail comfortably.
In the beginning Ember's upper body was leaning away from Anon with her tail curving upwards towards Anon's body and chest.
She then moved to rest her back on Anon's torso with her Tail now running between Anon's legs towards his feet.
The wording about Anon's heartbeat is misleading; Her head is supposed to rest on the area around his collarbone.
