Well consider that Twilight only saw Trixie apologize for what she did, then snap back to her old persona and run off. In Twilight's head, Trixie was still the same pony as before, the same pony that would get an artifact as dangerous as the Alicorn Amulet for small petty revenge. She didn't get to see Trixie's adventures in the Diamond Dog kingdom or Manehattan.
But what Twilight DID see was Starlight's emotional breakdown and change of heart. And what happened last time two antagonists met in the show? Tirek and Discord. Maybe Twilight was worried a similar thing would happen with Starlight and Trixie. Twilight spent the whole episode trying to drop hints and raise concerns to get Starlight to reconsider, but without outright saying "I don't want you to be friends with her". It's not until Starlight acted out (abandoning the dinner without telling anyone) that Twilight finally became more upfront about how she really felt.

Even if Magic Duel didn't happen Trixie showed nothing to make Twilight be such a shitty person. If anything her being calm and not doing a huge commotion that she's back in town for a show should have been enough to see that Trixie had changed.
And how the fuck do you give Glimmer a second chance after the shit she did and not give Trixie one?
And the entire point of the episode was to make Twilight allow Glimmer to make friends normally without her interfering too much? She already said she'll do that in the premiere.
Twilight had no reason to do that, really all they had to do is allocate 1 minute to Twilight overhearing something Trixie was saying and misunderstanding it or anything so she had a legitimate motive instead of just ignoring the end of Magic Duel.
And Glimmer made a very legitimate point about how can she trust Twilight when she says she's giving Glimmer a second chance when she said the same shit to Trixie and now she's shitting all over that? And then they did nothing regarding that. Like goddamn that thing would shake anyone's trust.
This episode could have been one of the best in the show, because it did everything else right. When Twilight wasn't involved the scenes ranged from being very funny to incredibly heartwarming.

It would be fine if Twilight were slightly anxious and had doubts about Trixie, anyone would. But Trixie straight up asked for forgiveness, Twilight accepted and they left on pretty okay terms, even if she did do the silly magic run off thing again. But this episode might as well have thrown Magic Duel out the window. You can't say you forgive someone and then proceed to hold what they did against them. That's the opposite of what forgiveness means. Nervous Twilight across the episode would have been perfect but she went full blown asshole.
Now granted, Trixie's attitude at first was a bit uncalled for what with being slightly douchey in demeanor. But after the first couple of minutes her feelings about no one having actually forgiven her were perfectly justified. I understand all the other ponies in town being skeptical but Twilight's behavior was simply uncalled for. She's the princess of friendship, she should have been willing to give her the benefit of the doubt for Starlight's sake. The same Starlight she HAS forgiven despite what she did being a bajillion times worse than anything Trixie aspired to.

While you are right about Twilight acting like this isn't out of character, she has no reason to react like this in the current situation.
And here the problem is the writer. This entire conflict feels forced because Trixie is the victim here. Twilight has no reason to not give Trixie a second chance. She had no reason to goddamn lie about it in Magic Duel like this episode says.
And you can't say that Celestia influenced things in any way like it usually happens with Twilight, because Twilight's problem wasn't about the dinner being fucked up but Glimmer's choice of friends.
And again some of the mistakes aren't understandable in any possible way.
Giving a second chance to Glimmer, who's evil deeds are off the fucking scale, but not to Trixie who's only evil act was to want revenge for an actually reasonable reason, her career being fucked up by the Ponyville thing. The Amulet made her go insane, the shit she did in Ponyville shouldn't count against her.
And Twilight didn't even give a good fucking reason for Glimmer to not be Trixie's friend for most of the episode. What the fuck could have happened? Trixie is fucking harmless. In what negative way could she influence Glimmer?
Twilight had no reason to act the way she did.

She was almost crying while asking for forgiveness. And Twilight said she forgave her with literally nothing to indicate she was lying and being a bitch about it. She could have said that Trixie had to do something to earn it but she didn't. She forgave her.
And no. Twilight doesn't fear Starlight reverting to her old ways. She has shown absolute fucking trust to Starlight, despite Starlight being more dangerous than Trixie ever was. If anything Starlight has shown to be a great actor and manipulator. If anything Twilight should be more worried about Starlight just going back in time without telling Twilight anything, thus preventing her from being able to fix anything before being deleted by the past being changed.
Her actions, again, made no sense.
