There were some good scenes and the resolution was better than I expected it to be based on the rest of the episode. I enjoy Glimmer's character a lot more than I expected based on her first appearance, I'm actually pretty glad she stuck around.
I didn't like Twilight's character in it though. I was hoping having a pupil of her own would develop her out of the bit of a hole she's been in for a while where she's either wrong about something and has nothing but character flaws or right about something and plays the standard protagonist role, and it just ended up being the first option + the sudden awkward loss of competence and consistency when Celestia is involved.
Other flaws were the too prominent fan favorite character placement and the overblown expressions in a couple places, but those are generally pretty minor.
Starlight's interaction with everyone but Twilight was spot on, particularly Trixie. I was surprised at how well they actually managed their relationship. It grew naturally out of similar experiences and the things they talked about felt authentic and actually meaningful to their characters.
As much as I like Celestia, she honestly shouldn't have been in it if she wasn't going to have a real part. I think the episode would have been almost perfect if it had just been Twilight having misgivings about Trixie and Starlight causing each other to relapse, without the pressure of the dinner with Celestia to make her do stupid shit. The general plot could have been the same, except instead of Twilight dragging meme ponies around she tailed Trixie and Starlight to make sure nothing bad happened and the jokes would have been misunderstandings about things they were doing that looked evil instead of "look here's that headphones pony you all like."
Still, pretty solid episode and it says good things about the rest of the season that Starlight Glimmer is working out so well.
7/10, but I probably care too much about Twilight's writing and it'll go up later.

Yeah. Like I believe Derpy and DJPone3 would not have been a thing if the fans didn't react to it. If the show was supposed to end at season 3 it wouldn't matter but if my show was greenlit for more seasons, I'd totally go back and revisit characters to tie up loose ends or at least reuse assets. I'm sure that even if they weren't considering one part of their audience, there were still kids wondering what happened to Gilda.

I liked the development of Princess Celestisnob, and the inclusion of Cranky and Derpy. Glimmer and Trixie as a pair just seems odd to me, why would Trixie get along with Glimglam any better than Twilight when she's just as powerful magically, the "Dey both badded" argument didn't really cut it for me. The ending of the episode was shitty too, it just made Trixie look like an impotent suicide slut that can only perform with a competent unicorn backing her.
