After a drunken one night stand, a peaceful batpony named Mango found herself changed.
She couldn't see her reflection, and had a thirst for blood.

Guide her on her adventure to survive the mean streets of Las Pegasus in this new form.

===============
Last time we had just escaped a mob den after draining one gangster and torturing another.

Mango had been on her way to the Saddle Arabian Casino before this detour, but it might be unwise to stay that close to the gang's hideout.
>>
>>25037569
Try to get as far away from the scene as possible. Avoid other ponies if you can
>>
Did this thing finally stabilize?
>>
>>25037638
>You decide that it is especially unwise to stay near this commotion.
>You were pumped up earlier but now the saddlebags are starting to cut into your wings.
>You decide that the casino is too close though, and glide down as far away as you can go.
>Hopefully nopony notices the shotgun barrel sticking out of the saddlebag either.
>You just keep walking until you're out of the sleazy part of town. Currently you're nearest the Filthy Rich Tower.
>You estimate that it's about 3:30 AM.
>>

Lets hide the saddlebags somewhere nearby before we go in. Maybe on a roof.
>>
>>25037900
We should focus on finding a suitable shelter for now.
>>
>>25038082
Sounds like a fine idea. We haven't slept in around 24 hours, might as well find a hotel with our gains.
>>
>>25038109
I was thinking of something more permanent and private. Unless we want to snack on more hotel staff.
>>
>>25038136
Yeah, but we can't go home.
There's too much evidence pointing right to us, we'll certainly get arrested on sight.
>>
>>25038136
That's not going to be easy to do, unless you want to life in the sewers.
>>
>>25038156
Our home is in another town that we probably wouldn't be able to reach and with a lot of individuals that would notice changes in us. We need some place local, like a condemned building.

>With only 60 bits to your name you're more than kinda broke.
>You have a house south of the city, but you imagine it might be bad to go exactly where expected when you just murdered three ponies.
>Of course you missed this month's lease payment, so it's only a matter of time before it gets repossessed...
>You look around for a place to sleep. Most hotels are at least 80 bits a night around here, with the Casinos hitting upwards of 150.
>There are some older cheaper ones back on Freepony Street, but that will still nearly drain your coffers.
>Of course, Freepony also has a lot of old abandoned places too.
>Closer to your current location is a large parking garage that's open to the public, but everything else is modern high class buildings.
>>
>>25038334
Welp, what else do we do?
We could always go to some kind of secondhand store or pawn shop that's open really late to buy a cheap blanket, then sleep underneath the stairwell in the parking garage.
>>
>>25038334
To Freepony Street.
>>
>>25038403
>>25038417

>You head to Freepony street.
>The cheapest place you can find is 45 bits per night.
>But there is a building fairly close to Ocean's that is undergoing massive renovations.
>You could pretty easily co-opt a room there while the work goes on.
>>
>>25038702
Do it. Doesn't need to be comfy, just needs to be dark.
>>
>>25038702
Any buildings where there wouldn't be any traffic? If no than >>25038760
>>
>>25038811
There are a few abandoned buildings around, though, who knows what might waltz through those.
>>
>>25038824
Check out the abandoned buildings to see if anybody is squatting in them.
>>
>>25038932
>You decide to check out the abandoned building
>The closest one has a sturdy lock, but the window is smashed and easy enough to enter.
>Once inside the smell of stale beer and what might be day old vomit fills your nostrils.
>You make your way upstairs to find several unwashed ponies sleeping in a mostly intact room.
>>
>>25039080
Wake one of them and ask if there's anywhere we could find some privacy.
>>
>>25039127
>You poke at one of the ponies
>A small mare, no actually a filly responds
>"Huh, uh, what?"
>"The hell are you waking me- Who are you?"

"Hello, uh, kid. Uh do you know of any more private places in here?"

>"Private? Uh. why, you wanna fuck somepony?"
>You're kinda speechless at that
>"Nevermind, no, this is the only room with good windows so unless you like freezing at night, you sleep here, dummy."
>>
>>25039263
Actually I'd prefer somewhere dark.
>>
>>25039263
And where I wont be bothered
>>
>>25039263
"I can handle cold, I just need dark and private. Alright?"

>"Whatever, you're weird. There's some rooms with wood over the windows. They're darker and no one goes there because it's too cold. Now go away before my mom beats the shit out of my for waking her up."
>>
>>25039373
"Sounds good to me."

Find a rafter or something to hang on and turn in for the day.
>>
>>25039373
Great. Time to hide.
>>
>>25039373
>>25039398
>>25039490
>You look for one of the rooms the girl mentioned. When you find one you really don't notice the cold.
>In fact you remember now that you got right out of the shower and flew.
>Normally you'd freeze your little bat booty off doing that.
>You actually don't normally hang on rafters to sleep either though you're beginning to suspect that that might be more comfortable than sleeping on hardwood flooring.
>You eventually drift to sleep.
========END DAY ONE========
>Your dreams are troubling, to say the least.
>You hear that stallion screaming, and you see the lust in the Maid's eye turn into terror.
>You feel her lifeblood spilling into your gullet as she fades, knowing nothing but pure fear and betrayal.
==============================
>You wake up warm and toasty.
>You feel light on your face and pull the covers up to block it.
>The bed is so soft, it feels like you're floating.
>Everything is just bliss. You just want to sleep more.
>>
>>25039573
Uh, bed?
>>
>>25039573

>>
>>25039573

>>25039660
>>25039676
>Wait bed?
>Covers?
>You bolt up, flapping your way to the ceiling.
>You're in a stone room you do not recognize with sunlight streaming onto a nice wooden bed with deep red covers and starched white pillows.
>There are three wooden doors in the room, and a large wooden desk. It has a letter attached to a small box with a red ribbon.

How does Mango proceed?
>>
>>25039703

>>
>>25039730
>You look around for your belongings.
>It looks like your saddlebags are at the foot of the bed.
>Everything is there.
>>25039732
>You open the letter.
>"I hear you've been looking for me. Well I decided to save you the trouble. Breakfast is at noon. Do not be late."
>"~FF"
>"PS- consider this a gift"

>The box contains several blood packs and some expensive chocolate.

>>25039743
>>25039811
>You try to pinch yourself, in case this is a dream.
>Alas, you only have hooves, so instead you slap yourself
>The place where the sunlight hit stings bad.
>Odd, it should have hurt more, last time it took almost as little time to fill the room with burt-you smell.
>Of course if this was Fang's place you'd bet he'd have some way of reducing the sun's effects.
>>

>>
>>25039978
Why are you following a cyoa if you're not going to read it?
That's the laziest thing I've ever heard.
>>
>>25040034
Its not that but it was well past midnight in Europe and I have job you know
>>
>>25039847
>>25039858
>You check the saddle bags more thoroughly.
>Both guns are there, but the ammo boxes are empty.
>You dump the blood and chocolate into the bags.
>There are three doors. The first leads to a closet. Disturbingly the Maid outfit you once wore is hanging in there, complete with hotel logo.
>There are also several other outfits that seem about your size.
>All seem somewhat revealing.
>The second door leads to a well appointed bathroom with a separated bath and shower and various shampoos and soaps.
>You always loved fruit scented soaps and these are no exception.
>The last door leads to a hallway.
>It's obviously old, but very well card for. >There are no windows here, instead the wood floors are lined by masonry walls and soaring tapestries.
>Four other doors line this hall, one to the right and three to the left.
>The hall ends in a single small paned window that adds enough light to nearly illuminate the hall.
>It feels uncomfortably warm to your skin, but doesn't burn immediately.
>>
>>25040117
Check the clothes a bit more thoroughly.
>>
>>25040117
check the left doors first.
>>
>>25040157
>Looking through the closet a bit more you find a few other outfits stand out.
>One is a very form fitting short black dress with dark black stockings.
>Another is a Red Blouse and a black jacket with a huge sweeping collar.

>You check the pockets of the clothes but there's nothing but dry cleaning tags.
>Below there's nothing but clean wood floor.
>The closet is not very deep.
>>25040171
>You check the left three doors.
>The one across the hall is locked.
>The next one over from your room is a broom closet.
>The one after that opens to a room much like the one you were just in, but dusty and devoid of most of the furnishings.
>Simply the bed frame, mattress and desk remained.
>As you exit the empty room you notice a grandfather clock that reads 11:05
>>
>>25040323
Lets hold off on those outfits. We're not letting Fang play dressup with us.
Go through the right door.
>>
>>25040401
>The right door is across the hall as well. The hallway takes a corner past it and into a much larger room.
>You go into the right door and find a large study, with bookshelves that stretch to the ceilings.
>It's well taken care of, but no book looks like it had been published in the last century.
>>
>>25040495
We have an hour to kill. I guess reading's a good idea right now. See if there's anything on vampires.
>>
>>25040551
You find three books on vampires with very little searching.
"Anatomy and Physiology of the Vampire"
"Hunting the Hunters: How to kill Vampires"
"Sanguine Nights: My Vampire Lover"
>>
>>25040817
Can we hide books in our saddlebags?
>>
>>25040918
There's no one to stop you, yet.
>>
>>25040928
Take "Anatomy and Physiology of the Vampire" and "Hunting the Hunters: How to kill Vampires" since those are for more heavy reading and read "Sanguine Nights: My Vampire Lover" since it's more of a time waster.
>>
>>25040952
>You bring the three books back to your room and stuff the two more text-book looking into your pack.
>You open the other up.
>You're treated to the trashiest romance novel you've ever read.
>Vampire could have been replaced with "Crystal Pony" or any other exotic specimen and the story would have remained much the same.
>Still, its a light read and you lose the time for a bit.
>The clock in the hall begins to ring.
>12:00
>>
>>25041095
Let's go get some food.
>>
>>25041186
>You feel slightly apprehensive.
>You follow the hallway into the larger room past the study.
>You're in a large foyer and can see a dining hall past that.
>As you walk in a Blue White unicorn with a slick-backed mane greets you.
>He's seated at the far end of the table, holding an empty wineglass.
>"Hello, my dear. I hope this sudden... we'll say change of scenery, didn't startle you?"
>His accent is hard to place. Somewhere between Canterlot and Trottingham.
>"In any case, we have much to discuss. I trust that you realize I am your host, one Fierce Fang?"
>>
>>25041230
Keep your rage in check.
>>
>>25041230

>>
>>25041259
>>25041423
>You hold back any emotional outbursts you might have planned
>But here he was, the damned stallion that did this to you
>And now he wants to talk.
"Right, You made me... this."
>"Indeed. A most peculiar situation, I'd say. First we break the morning fast, then we will discuss business."
>Fang motions for you to sit
>He then claps his hooves together and a skeletal pony trots into the room.
>It carries a silver platter with a silver cover.
>An identical one appears behind you.
>The trays are massive, far bigger than you.
>Suddenly you know why.
>two bound ponies lie on the trays.
>Only one seems conscious.
>Fang smiles, revealing his large, sharp canines.
>"I prefer my prey live, haha"
>The pony on the table looks in terror at you two and begins mumbling through her bindings
>Fang levitates her up to him and clasps down hard.
>You hear bones snap and the mumbling suddenly stops
>Fang feeds slowly and methodically after that display.
>You look down at your own "breakfast"
>A young looking stallion
>He looks like he's having a pleasant dream.
>>
>>25041449
Should've brought some blood with us. He's dead no matter what so we might as well make it painless.
>>
>>25041449
Well its his house and he offered a meal be a good guest and feed
>>
>>25041479
>>25041469
>You hesitate, but reason that this pony is dead no matter what you do.
>It's important that you make a good impression on Fang, no?

>You lean in, lacking unicorn magic, and attempt to crush the stallion's windpipe and make his death as quick as possible.
>Your teeth sink in and you bite down hard.
>Suddenly the stallion starts moving, thrashing against your bite, but you quickly push him down with your hooves.
>This does drag your bite across his neck leaking blood everywhere. The Stallion chokes and sputters before going limp.
>"Hm, primal and aggressive. Yes. You'll do very nicely."
Charisma save: Partial Failure
>The compliment feels very good. You can't really say why though. He's being patronizing and arrogant but you crave his approval.
>You shake the feeling and focus on what he done to you.
>Your brow furrows as you drain the stallion.
>As you finish he wipes your mouth.
>He knows you did a good job.
>He's rewarding you for feeding well.
>>
>>25041546
Are we supposed to be his pet?
>>
>>25041574
>your mind is full of simple words
>words of obedience and loyalty
>word that are not your own
>GET OUT OF MY HEAD
>your try to separate them for your words bu there are so many
>You can't even begin to count them
>I AM NOT YOUR PET
>suddenly the words leave
>your mind is yours again
"F-fuck..."
>"And remarkably strong willed, for a non-unicorn."
>He finally seems to be addressing you directly
>"Forgive me for that, but I had to test you."
>"I need somepony new, somepony like you, to secure the future of our race."
>He stands and picks back up the empty wine glass.
>"I brought you here because I made you, quite on accident, and in less than a full day you've already become quite the predator."
>"It takes most ponies far longer to start savoring the kill."
>He then puts a hoof above the neck wounds of the mare he drained, and pushes down.
>Blood oozes from the wounds into his glass.
>"But you obviously share the passion. You know that we, as the strong, must rise above."
>He sips the blood from the glass
>"There are some among us who would sacrifice that destiny for 'peace' with the mortal world. They are a danger to us all, as I'm sure you have gathered. Can I count on your help in protecting our future?"

I'm done for the night. Lets see another QM take the reins, I've gone on too long already.

"No. I might be a killer but hunting down others who just want to coexist peacefully is absolutely stupid", you tell him in a stern voice
"Besides, I never fucking asked for this. I am not your little servant"

If he's a head vampire or at the very least an ancient vampire he's probably WAYYYY more powerful than we can imagine or hope to be.

So it's best to ATLEAST make him think we're with eachother instead of making him think we're against him and piss him off.

Cause otherwise he'll probably fuck us up

Then sell the location of his home later when we're cornered by vampony hunters to weasel out of it :^).

Weaknesses of a vampire.

Finding the Nightcrawlers

Honestly, working and living with Fang doesn't seem like that bad of an idea, as much of an asshole as he is.

He knows what he's doing, he's damn experienced, and he's powerful.
We'd always have a place to stay, always have food, and we'd have a damn good mentor to train us in this way of life.

Really, I just don't want to go it alone; it seems too risky, having multiple parties, FF, the Mob, and the hunters, all gunning for us.
>>
>>25047404
Looks good to me.

>>25047569
Nah, fuck this guy. I don't care what he's offering, he either decided to ruin our life at random or we were just a meal that somehow survived. He's clearly got no qualms about killing innocents and is trying to actively stop peace.
Working with him is a good idea in the same way throwing everyone else off the lifeboat is a good idea.
>>
>>25047765
>Working with him is a good idea in the same way throwing everyone else off the lifeboat is a good idea.

>Lying down on your bed you open up Anatomy and Physiology of Vampires
>Immediately opening it on the page of Powers you begin to read

Vampires are the creatures of the night and thus have improved nightvision to aid their hunt. But sight is not the only sense that has improved, vampires are also able to hear exceptionally well, some even able to hear a mouse make a sound from more than 500 meters away. Another common ability that most vampires posses is weak hypnosis, which can be trained to get even the most resistent mind to obey. Finall, they are also resistent to most weaponary.
This is also were most similarities end. There are lots of other abilities a vampire can have, but those differ from pony to pony. The abilites are being decided on in the first few weeks after turning. In this time period, a vampony's abilities are highly unstable and can change in the blink of an eye.

>You take a peek at the clock, it shows 1:15PM
>Opening the next chapter, you start reading once again

Even though vampires might be powerful, they are not invincible. A silver bullet is able to take the life of a cursed pony, so is a wooden object piercing through the heart. Another way of killing a vampony is to decapitate them.
Depending on the generation of vampire, they are also affected by sunlight, especially the UV radiation contained in the light. The higher the beasts' generation is, the more painful sunlight is on them.
Loud noises and bright light are able to irritate them due to their heightened senses.
Legends say that if a vampire is killed, all the ponies they turned will die as well. Other variations say the vampirism is cured if the head vampire dies.

>Taking time to memorize all the different weaknesses you read the chapter multiple times

>Afterwords you put Anatomy and Physiology down and pick up Hunting the Hunter
>The Chapter "Finding the nightcrawlers" sounds like a good idea to read, it might tell you what not to die to stay hidden

Nightcrawlers are only able to walk around under the moon princess' watch and have to hide in dark places so they do not get killed by the shining rays of our godess of the sun.
The most obvious way to differentiate a monster and a living being is through their (in some cases retractable) fangs which are perfect for remorselessly sucking out the holy water of life out of a poor victim's body.
You can identify a victim of a vampire through the 2 tiny holes on the pony's body, often found in the area of the neck. They might still bleed slightly, meaning they are fresh and the scum of the night is not too far away.
Always remember though, if you let our sun godess guide you, you are bound to find these beasts, it is our holy mission given by the godess herself to erase them from the face of the...

Well, Fang, I may be considering your offer, but I have some questions that I'd like answered.

Firstly, you said that I was an accident, would you elaborate on that? Why choose to have sex with me in a hotel room, rather than have me on a silver platter like those two earlier?

Second, how did you find me in that parking garage?

Third, if this is what I'm going to be, I'd like an explanation. You said you wanted me to protect our future, and I want to know what plans you have for me.
Would I just be your servant on a leash, doing your will for the promise of a nice meal and your compliments, or would there be more to this arrangement?

>"As for your transformation, I'm not exactly sure. Nopony really is. Only those of strong will and constitution survive an intentional draining. Even I thought you were dead initially."
>"It's never happened to me before. I do not seek to create vampires. That is not the natural order of things."

"Okay, Question two. How did you find me last night."
>"Ah, I'm sorry but a hunter cannot reveal all his tricks. Suffice to say that you were not all that hard to find, for a trained one of our kin. You smelled of death and left a wake of prey."

>You pull up another seat, getting more comfortable talking with Fang.
"Well, do you have any tips for me? How am I to avoid detection living like this?"
"Will mortals hunt me?"
>"The mortals fear anything that places itself above them. They are arrogant about their place in this world. They will seek to destroy what they fear. Yes mortals have those who will seek to destroy you. Fortunately they are few in number, about as many vampires exist as they do. They stumble blindly though, and if you keep your wits about you they should prove easy to avoid."
>"Of course, that means keeping your hunts discreet. Do not underestimate their tenacity."
>"For example, killing a depressed mare from out of town in a hotel room, and planting narcotics on her corpse is a good deal more discrete than say, killing two high ranked gangsters in their own hideout and then mutilating the corpses. Or did you mutilate them before they died? Both?"

(1/2)
>>
>>25053443
(2/2)

"What makes the vampires that want peace with the mortals so dangerous."

>"That has a complicated answer. To say that they are meddling with the natural order of things is simply a given. They think that the natural order is 'evil.' A better answer is that negotiations with a mortal race are doomed from the start. Even if a satisfactory agreement is made we Vampires will outlast the agreement by centuries. I have seen movements like this before. They arise, make an arrangement with some mortal power and are wiped out when that power wanes. The mortals will never accept us, not as equals or as superiors. So we must take our rightful place above them by force and cunning."
>>
>>25053515

"So what do you want? From me, and for Vampires as a whole? You seem very powerful, and until yesterday I was simply one of those ponies you were 'above'. How do I change anything?"
"And I want you to know. I- I'm not going to kill in cold blood just because you think that I should. But I'm not going to oppose your plans or anything."

>"I want Vampires to remain much as they are. A small elite that the mortals fear and respect. But I want this to be explicit! I'm tired of pulling strings from the shadows. I want them to send tribute directly to my door."

"You want to enslave them, then?"
>"No, I have no need for that. I simply want to be a presence again. Back when I was turned my clan had a whole nation that feared and respected us as leaders, as rulers. I want power, but I do not need total enslavement to make that possible. Besides if I need mindless servants I can always just animate some bones."

"What about the princesses? There's no way Celestia would let this happen. She's a wise ruler, I'm sure she would be willing to broker a peace that could last as long as she has."
>"Ha! That's what the last attempt at peace thought too. But no sooner had they brokered a deal with Luna then was she deposed. All those traitors were burned by Celestia's Sun."
>"The princesses are as fickle as any mortal rulers. They have lasted quite some time, but they have not outlasted any vampires."
>"Forever is quite a bit longer than a millenia."

>"But we digress from our initial conversation, yes?"
>"You tell me you will not kill for me. I know you must still cling to the notion that every life is precious. That is trite nonsense. Life is dime-a-dozen."
>"Life is a struggle, and we are the strong."
>"Is it fair to keep an arm behind your back because you are stronger than your opponent?"
>"Is it evil to use what destiny has bestowed upon you to win?"
>>
>>25053969
Earlier you said that It takes most ponies far longer to start savoring the kill. I may have accepted the fact that I have to kill to survive and a part of me might even enjoy it, but I'm far from savoring it or feeling that I'm something greater than others. Before this I lived the life of a normal pony and I was happy. I didn't have any aspirations to be something greater and right now I just want to figure out how I'm going to live the rest of my new life.

If you want to face a vampire, you shall be as prepared as you can be. These creatures are aboslutely remorseless and will kill you on sight. This is why you have to protect yourself.
You have probably heard that garlic is able to keep a vampire at bay, but this is in fact not true. It isn't garlic but a mixture out of mashed garlic, holy water and crushed poison joke. You can spread this compound in your general area to keep a vampire from getting too close to you.
Always carry a wooden sun symbol with you. It's the symbol of the goddess and is said to be able to severely hurt a vampire if he comes in direct contact with it.
A gun with silver bullets can aid you if you have to defend yourself from afar.
Most importantly though: Pray to our godess and believe in her guidance. She will not abandon you and will protect you from all evil. Your faith will be rewarded, fellow hunter.
