I personally feel like she's the most complete villain in the show.

Really, though. Starlight is just a regular mare. She had an early exposure to how inequality can hurt ponies in the lower class and thus studied magic for years before creating a society where everyone could be equal. She treated everyone the same, and everyone lived happy in Our Town. The only one there who was missing anything wasStarlight Glimmer.So the map called the mane six to solve her friendship problem that she had bottled up inside, but ruined her community in the process. She had plenty of reason to try and ruin Twilight's life after that. I mean, Twilight ruined hers.

Maybe making Starlight try to look for Sunburst, or even making her have attempted to make friends again but ending up with the same fate as before would've been a bit better.
Starlight just seemed to give up way too fucking easily, which is why I thought her backstory was on the weaker side.That said, I do think her redemption is what killed her more than her backstory.

Anyone who can watch this and say that Starlight isn't the best villain on the show is autistic. You can really see how much self-loathing inequality put her through, especially when having her way meant destroying all of Equestria.
Her motives were perfect. Her resolution was perfect. She's the perfect waifu.

A regular mare can't compete with Alicorn levels of magic. Even Twilight -- Princess Celestia's chosen student -- couldn't compete with Trixie's amulet.

What lower class? Not having a cutie mark is not an indicator of lower class. The CMC were made fun of by DT, Babs, and SS sure, but literally every other pony did not give a shit.

Starlight brainwashed the townsfolk and stole their talents while refusing to give up her own.

She ruined MANY lives just to prove a shitty point about equality, and was willing to screw over the entirety of Equestria because of it. Starlight had to be stopped both times.
In terms of motivation, Chrysalis' would likely be best, as her evil is born out of necessity as opposed to a bad memory of her coltfriend leaving her behind.
