I'm not necessarily upset, but it does feel weird to know the ponies we've been seeing since S1 might actually change designs. I mean, the last time one of the main six got a permanent appearance change, the fandom's reaction was... significant.
I do know I'm not really interested in a lasting change to the way the show draws ponies, but who knows whether that'll ever happen. If it's just for the movie it could be fine- good, even. This could indicate that the movie will have a slightly different tone than the show and I'm all for that.

Usually a movie allows more freedom with graphic details. Since they're working with a much more larger budget, they have the time and workforce to add more things to the final product.

Holy shit, what the fuck are you faggots whining about? Every movie adaptation of a TV show ever has slightly better character designs and more fluid animation than the actual episodes. Compare the Spongebob movie with the animation in any Spongebob episode. Take any fucking cartoon series that has a movie made out it. Even the Powerpuff Girls movie, based off of a series that was known for its limited and stylized animation, has better animation than the series.
If this is to be what we see in the actual movie, then I'm happy that they won't just stupidly stick to the character designs of a show that is animated in fucking Adobe Flash! Trust me, I'm surprised the design chances are actually that minor. It shows that they are very much aware that the show's animation and character designs are among the main reasons for its success. The changes look so minor that I'm sure only autistic bronies will really pay much attention to them at all. I'm already getting used to the changes and I haven't seen a single frame of that movie yet.
Since the movie is animated in ToonBoom instead of Flash and has a much bigger budget, it figures that they would slightly alter the character designs.
