It's mostly slice-of-life episodes that deal with conflicting ideals and lifestyles. The conclusion is usually finding either common ground or some kind of compromise that enriches all ponies concerned in some way or another. It's great when the writing is good, although obviously the scope of themes the show can explore is limited quite a bit by the intended target audience.
