No, the show is meant to be slice of life. The problem is when the writers are a bunch of incompetents who can't write good slice of life and try and push "mature topics" into a children cartoon, completely ruining the tone. That makes some episodes really awkward and it's probably the reason why some people prefer adventure episodes, at least those aren't depressing. But I'd really love to see good slice of life episodes again.
