I think it's the current crop of directors and writers being a shit.
We know Lauren is into wildlife an animals and shit and probably spends a good amount of time outside. This makes her creative with woodsy settings and such. Which is why we got a lot of that in early seasons.
The current show staff are completely a bunch of city dwelling cucks, so naturally they can't think of anything mildly creative or out of the ordinary.
