Who is going to play this game and name all planet and species from the pones?
>>
>>27732966
I certainly will

Celestia will own all celestial entities
>>

Blue planets: Trixie (if there are visible moons) or Rainbow Dash
Earth-like planets: Fluttershy
White and Cold planets: Rarity
Pink planets full of strange creatures: Pinkie Pie
Purple planets: Twilight Sparkle
Desertic planets: Applejack

Almost no one will ever see your planet

I'll only name half of them after ponies and the other after Tex Avery characters.

Also I'm still disappointed there will be no co-op.
>>
>>27733321
if you consider the Journey's multiplayer as a coop, yes there will be coop even in no man's sky
>>
>>27733342
Can I explore planets and fuck around in said planets with a friend all in the same galaxy?
>>
>>27733321
>>27733342

What? So how will this really work? Is it just gonna be kinda like spore where you'd encounter aliums and planets made and named by other people? Or will I actually be able to interact with someone if I have the immense luck to end up in the same place at the same time?

Anyway, that's a good idea OP, I guess I'll have to do that. There will be no escape from the horsefaggotry.
>>
>>27733357
Yes you can
>>
>>27733358
>Or will I actually be able to interact with someone if I have the immense luck to end up in the same place at the same time?

You'll be able to interact with other players as long as you play online obviously.
It will be harder comparing to Elite, because everyone will spawn in a random place in the galaxy and there will be no "Civilized bubble" to gather in.
>>
>>27733410
Won't one form eventually? It would be like a minecraft server, everyone fucks off into the wilderness and does their own thing, but there's almost always a marketplace or hub of some kind, some sort of common area.

In some ways, assuming it's as complex as we've been told, this could be an interesting thing to analyze from a sociological perspective. Looking at how communities form and how people interact. I hope it's like dark souls pvp in that there are very few built in rules for player interaction. Nothing stopping someone from fucking up a stranger or wrecking their planet aside from unspoken rules and common courtesy.

Though i suppose it might be important for the players to have some way to prevent griefing and stuff like that.

Still, i love the idea that it's actually lawless, a kind of frontier like the wild west. Imagine if instead of moderaters there was a police force organised by players, who would keep the law in specific areas of space. Or if someone crossed you and you don't have the skills to get revenge you could put a bounty on their heads.

Suppose you do something illegal, the player shouldn't be scared of being banned, they should be scared of another player putting a bounty on them, or a police/military group killing them in the middle of the crime. That would be an incredible game. 100% organic and self contained, no 4th wall breaking magical rules that break the immersion.

Holy fuck i hope this game lives up to the hype.
>>

I'm scared it won't. And I'm still waiting for Spore 2.

Except that No Man's Sky will be much much bigger than ED and people are starting all over the place. ED has about 100 billion stars.

NMS will have 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 (18.4 quintillion) planets, so if every single star in ED had 10 million planets, NMS would still be bigger.
>>
>>27735950
Spore 2. I want it in my ass now.
>>
>>27735970
If EA are still any way involved it will be shit. Maybe a fucking mobile game.

>pay 10 USD for a bundle of DNA
>>
>>27738697
Spread your legs and I'll release my spores into your butt, anon.

>>27738678
It's an incredibly ambitious goal. I'm incredibly hyped for the game, but I'm worried it's not going to meet expectations, much like spore. Both games were/are trying to be a revolutionary gaming experience, spore looked amazing before it was released, but the final product was a lobotomised version of what was shown pre release.

That's the biggest reason i haven't preordered NMS.
>>
>>27738698
I hope you're wrong anon, i want this game to be good so badly. The preorder bonus is a little bit concerning, and apparently their offices were flooded at the beginning of 2016 and they lost a lot of work, which is probably why they pushed the date further away, although it could also mean that they were forced to sacrifice the quality of the game so they could meet deadlines. Hopefully it's all okay.
>>
>>27738698

Godus specifically, He has visions upon visions and great ideas, but like Icarus his mind flew too high in the clouds, never realizing the reality of it. His team did their best at making Godus, wha twas supposed to be a successor to populus, but it fell short of its promise.
Great ideas not based it reality.
>>
>>27739191
>Godus

Ah, that says a lot. Calling him icarus is too kind, icarus actually achieved his goal, he just didn't account for the consequences.

Pete Mollynew had ideas, but seems to think that's all you need to be deserving of praise.

Icarus tried, petey boy said 'hey, I'm the guy what made that game you like, aren't i special?'

By the way, will we be able to modify the terrain and build things in NMS, or is it just placing prebuilt structures?

Icarus didn't have a goal, he was just trying out the cool wings his dad invented.

It's been a while since i read any greek myths, but he still flew to the sun didn't he?
>>
>>27735489
Eventually, maybe. Give it a few years.

Two players will eventually run into each other and choose to stick together, then eventually they find other players and form a crew, and so on.
And before you know it there is a major trading post run entirely by a few dozen players.
>>
>>27739383
He and his father were trapped in the labyrinth, in order to get out his dad made them wax wings, and warned his son not to get too close to the sun, or the wings will melt, and guess what that dumb motherfucker did next.
And that's when Rainbow Dash had to save Rarity's sorry ass, while succeeding the "impossible" sonic rainboom.
>>
>>27739410
That's the sort of thing i mean, though i think it'll happen much faster because people will communicate outside the game, share coordinates, then meet up to play together.

I think an enormous factor in the way the community of this game develops is communication through the internet.
>>
>>27739418
Nice way to tie it back to the show.

Based on that icarus seems careless and stupid, i suppose that you could call pete careless and stupid.

>Literally 0.0001% chance of spawning on the most desolate and isolated planet in No Mans Sky.
>He decides to build giant structures of each and every character from the show.
>Eventually gets tired, gives up, and turns skeleton.
>Planet is finally found year(s) after NMS was released.
>Its only inhabitants are either eaten by the single player, the players skeleton, or are giants statues of ponies.

Because there's no way there ISN'T going to be that one planet that only one person gets on, and that one person dies, leaving it all behind.
>>
>>27740868
Too bad leaving planets resets them, so any phallic images set or resources taken are put back.
>>
>>27740877
For the most part yes. Unless you do something the game considers significant(what ever that is). That will get saved and uploaded.
>>
>>27741088

I know that terrain editing will be a thing, but I think it's more of a "solo-drifter/hero" situation, where it's just you and your ship and all buildings/structures/purchasables belong to an AI civ. Which you have to learn the languages of word by word in order to interact with them in any meaningful way.

I've been fallowing this shit before it had a name. Not sure, but maybe even longer than ponies. I have read everything and watched everything I could find about it. I put in fucking vacation time for the last release date and got more in for the next.

>>
>>27747847
Unfortunately i don't remember ever hearing that it will be, but Maybe? or maybe in the future. They are a very small team and are probably frantically working just getting it out in English
>>
>>27747884
Thanks. Yeah, the language should be somewhat malleable since it (probably?) isn't directly intertwined with the game seed so they'll probably make a German patch sometime after release.

But I feel you. When I got my PS3 on my 14th birthday I played Far Cry 2 for about 8-10 hour sessions at a time. I'm probably gonna experience the same thing when NMS comes out 43 days from now, except instead of a fraction of Africa, I'll have a whole universe to explore.
>>
GUYS I HAVE AN IDEA!

What if we name a planet Horsefucker in a differnt language or each word in a different one and then we all try to fucking go there!? They say the chances of us finding other players is slim, but what if we make the horsefucker homeworld and fucking go there? That way we can all be obnoxious fucktards to the whole universe together?

>>
>>27747822
So what's with the robots? I though I was gonna be able to build some badass drone walker thing, then it turns out it's some AI deal? I still preordered because I have more money then sense, but it conscerns me that there will be some sort of insurmountable artificial constraint on what you can do. Can you dispell my fears about it and maybe tell me about them without spoiling shit?
>>
>>27748512
Sort of an intergalactic police. They try to keep the peace. They are explained though the lore you can find throughout the game.

I think they exist mostly just to make the game a little more challenging. No easily mining or killing for resources.

Nope no building or making robots...yet.

if the game is popular enough. Hello Games wants to release free updates that will implement stuff the fans want.

After 200 hours in elite dangerous I am done with boring ass "space exploration" games.

Also some guy put princess Luna on like a thousand planets
>>
>>27748667

NMS is not as realistic as elite.

It's suppose to be more for the casual gamer.
They tried to cut down on all the tediousness that plagues elite.

You go to planets and discover animals and shit no one has ever seen before for money, or collect or trade for resources to upgrade your suit and multi tool. Then you can go to more inhospitable planets where the real treasures are.
Supposedly they made the center of the galaxy the main target for players. Shits suppose to get weirder as you get closer.

also space whales

We should find a planet with animals that resemble horses so we can complete the dream.

>>27748439
Maybe we could be a group flying under the same flag? Outlaws and freebooters who search the universe for equestria.

The game might not have been designed with co op in mind, but one thing about humans is we'll generally seek each other out and group together rather than stay isolated. After a month or two i expect certain areas will become populated zones. Not necessarily any towns or colonies, but in the interest of trade and cooperation the players will congregate in a rough cloud.

>>27746295
So I'd be buying prebuilt houses/structures? Or do i pick a design and plonk it down where i want it? Is the intent that the player explores endlessly without a home, or can you have a base of operations to go back to and store things in?

There's always this, and i suppose players might be visually distinct in some way. Most games have an option for a custom character. Failing that there's the multitools which supposedly have such a high degree of customisation available that each one would be somewhat unique.

I really hope we can become something like the Borg, a Dothraki horde, or even the Zerg.

Once the initial chore of finding each other and a means of assuring we can stay together if we die is accomplished I'd love to make a giant fully human controlled pirate fleet. We send out scouts, they communicate back if they found a resource rich planet, horsefucker fleet moves in to rape and pillage. Rinse and repeat.

At least until we either find a planet full of four legged talking aliens who spread friendship or the developers step in to stop us.
>>
>>27754614

>>27751686
>players name

This is a negatory (At least for strangers you bump into. Though if there is a friends list that may be different). They have talked about people not being able to tell the difference between other players and the AI.

This is not a multiplayer game and is not designed as such.

It's exploration first and foremost. Though the fans have been harping them for more multiplayer features.
>>
>>27755101
>per lobby
I thought online was just one galaxy with everyone spread throughout the billions and billions of world's?

>exploration first

This, what's the point of putting only 8 players per a lobby in a near-infinite universe? It's like making them sign up for a lottery that's so statistically impossible to win it makes the emergence of life look like a coin flip in comparison.
>>
>>27755343
>lobby
Yep the chances of finding someone else is exceedingly slim. So slim that even with a hundred thousand players. The chances of someone finding a planet you someone else has visited before is unlikely.

People don't get how fucking ridiculously huge this game is.

I'm not even sure if there is some sort of galactic coordinance people can write down to identify where they actually are.
>>
>>27755343
the lobby are defined spatially as in the solar system you are in or the local star cluster.

I have never actually heard what would happen if the max player count is exceeded. Probably just won't be able to interact or see each other is my guess
>>
>>27738678

Thanks for the clarification. They better not give us a near limitless universe to explore but not allow ten or more people in the same star system to interact. That would be such a rip.

>>27755514
If I remember correctly the mass effect and stargate series had a solution to this. We just need the ability to build stargates and the ability to broadcast our coordinates and any horsefucker dropped in any part of the galaxy could make their own stargate that would take them to horsefucker planet. The real question is will the developers do this their own way or will people mod the game to get their gates?

Made an alternative for >>27751742. Y looks a bit better.

Anyway, even if we don't become a side-by-side viking tribe conquering planets one-by-one given the sheer size and and space of the universe, it'll still be pretty fun searching for horselike lifeforms and seeing who can find the most FiM-looking ones and posting what we find on here or maybe even an off-site registry we could make later.

But like >>27755831 said, even though it'd be hard to ACCIDENTALLY run into each other, hacking and modding is gonna happen anyway, and since there MIGHT be a coordinates system and we're dealing with upgradable superluminal vehicles here that can cover thousands of light-years in minutes, intentionally finding each other could be somewhat easier. But seems unlikely at this point since it's not what Hello Games seems to have envisioned. We'll just have to see how the game works when it comes out.

What should our motto be? "Boldly going where no horsefucker has gone before"?

It's neither quite just a galaxy or a universe. It's like a galaxy-universe, a galactiverse. It has the structure of a galaxy with a black hole in the center and billions of stars stars surrounding, but it's about the size of the visible universe.

I recalled that one of the main features about this game is that every planet is procedurally, and randomly generated. Down to the shapes and behaviors of it's lifeforms.

I know what our mission is now.

We must search the stars until we find the planet with the closest analogs to ponies and/or Equestria that the algorithm can create. Plant a beacon, share the coordinates, and make it our homeworld.

There might be a solution for this, maybe. Triangulation. If we use three points on the Gal Map we could figure out a general area and all rush to there and then do it again and again until finally we get into an area that we can actually manage to scour for a place to meet. Then if we can actually find the horsefucker meet and greet world, we can then all meet up at the north pole of the planet.
>>
>>27757518
That's actually a brilliantly simple solution for planet meets. Every Planet will have a "top" and a "bottom", meeting at one or the other would be insanely simple.

Using the system from Stargate might lead to more accuracy. Does anyone know if you can look at stars in other wavelengths? Or if they're implementing anything like pulsars?

They keep using that word.
>>
>>27757518

>>
>>27757531
Wait a minute you might actually be on to something with that! Because I was thinking only thinking of the map as a flat plane, but this is a space game, obviously there is going to be elevation to consider into this.

If we use the center of the starting galaxy as the the point of origin we might be able to do this!
>>
>>27757592
Like I say, if we have something like pulsars in game it gets relatively simple as we can create a catalogue of pulsars and use those as navbeacons
>>
>>27757599
Well, I'm not too sure about Pulsars, but black holes are a definite. Could we use those instead?
>>
>>27757609
Theoretically, the reason pulsars are useful is that they pump out a regular EM signal that can be used to easily identify them
>>
>>27757611
But would the chances of them getting THAT indepth might be slim. They might have everything from binary star systems and supernova to black holes and pulsars but what are the chances of getting that detailed?
>>
>>27757613
I agree it's doubtful, but it's worth mentioning because it would be the simplest method of figuring out a location. I'm confident though that there has to be some in game way of figuring out where you are, or else how will you ever be able to navigate?
>>
>>27757531
every star has a name, we can always say "meet at the second planet of star X" As i already do in Elite:Dangerous.
The only problem is the distance from where you spawn.
We must find a planet near the center, because everyone is already heading there, at least you'll have to make a little detour.

we still don't know it. It may have a "search the system" feature as in Elite, or maybe it doesn't have it. Sean Murray didn't say anything about it.
>>
>>27757670
I think planning for it not having one, but hoping that it does makes the most sense overall.
>>
>>27757670
I'm pretty sure a search system exist, but only of the planets and systems that you've explored personally. Have a massive "Universal Directory" would be incredibly unusable because of the 'shit posters' and immature faggots making planet pee-n-poo over and over again.
>>
>>27757677
This makes sense, its probably a bunch of private directories linked to one big one, keeping track of them all. So there might be planet pee-n-poo1, 24 or 5323, but you won't have it on your list until you've been there yourself.
>>
We still can share our discoveries in search for the pony planet and greens about ponies in the nms universe if we cannot meet.
>>
I know this is just going to cause issues for various reason but could we drive a species to extinction? I mean could we actively hunt them down to nothing? If we had one large concentrated effort on one planet, could we annihilate a species?
>>

Sure, just avoid the guardians and never leave the planet.

Trading will be a huge part of the game for whom who like it.
Trade commodities from a place where commodities cost less to a place where commodities have more value.
But Trading is totally impossible if you cannot plot routes and you don't know the map.

God almighty, this some Chinese Engrish-tier Latin. Did a single one of you take Latin in high school and pay attention? Consider me triggered.

Irrumabo and equito are first person verbs, so they mean "I fuck" and "I ride". "Si omnia alioquin desum, irrumabo cabillio" literally translates as "if all besides I am absent, I fuck horse". "Equito numquam finit" means "I ride never ends".

A much better wording would be "Iter numquam finit".

Can you smell it anon. It's potential. This game might very well be The game of the year with every /v/irgin 12 year old, grizzled veteran gamer and even every pissant fandom big and small out trying to find thier glory at being the first. The first to discover a thousand planets. The first to find another player. The first to make it to the center of the universe to beat the game.

But I don't give a damn about any of that. I want to be the first fandom group to meetup. Fuck all the other records and the developers plans. I just want to hangout and fuck around and have fun with some friends I just met in space.
