Honestly, even though it goes against the /mlp/ circlejerk, yes. Ponychan merged with mlpchan, now allows porn, and kicked all its badmins, and mlpforums has way more show discussion than you'll find here. The only big one that's 100% irredeemable shit is /r/mylittlepony and similar sites.

Give them a check out, at least. If you hate them, you've lost nothing, but if you enjoy them, you've found a new place to spend your time.
>>
>>27708692
Eh, Ponychan is the single one I've actually been around and to be honest I think it's gotten worse with time. I don't really care about porn as I can find my own without image dumps. But mlpforums intrigues me....is it worth going to now?

>>27708664
I like this place as it is my pony "home" but it is 4chan, and as such it pretty much has to full of unlikable people like every board on this site is to some extent.

I ask myself to this day. I have no talents, but I haven't worked on them either.

For the past 5 years I kept seeing money and career opportunities through kickstarter, indiegogo, patreon, livestreaming, donations.
I saw it with the pony fanbase, I saw it in a lot of things. I saw the bitcoin cryptocurrency as it skyrocketed and I never took advantage of it.

I might have actually wasted money opportunities by ignoring every important event on the internet.
Now it might be too late. The idiocracy seems to lower down or at least the part with the money donations.

I feel like a ghost.

Lmao man what even...who's talking about making money? I just want pony friends, and it's only now dawning on me that 4chan, being an anonymous image board and all, is not a place to make friends...it makes me kinda sad and curious as to if I've missed out on better places to talk about pone by spending all my time here.

>>27710914
Well at least maybe the board still seems new to you, so the excitement might still be there.

MLPforums is worth going to just for the show/worldbuilding discussion; it's more coherent than almost anything you'll find on /mlp/. Stay away from the roleplay section unless you actively like autism.
>>
>>27708643
fimfiction is worth a look. not so much for the communities though. I have yet to find one that isn't full of tribal hut anger issues.

Space battles was okay. but they've probably moved on from the pone like the Familiar of Zero stuff.
>>
>>27708643

I would advise against trying to make ponyfag friends, I've tried and it didn't end well.

99% of them are autistic as fuck, most of the people on this board are autistic as fuck.

Man, it's not just that people are feeling six year fatigue. It's that even in the creative community, and I know a few folks, it feels like the show has closed off most of the angles you'd want to explore, and the angles that haven't been closed off are things you know would be ruined if the show ever touched them.

I think it all started with Luna. Most popular pony by far because she was a blank slate, and then when she showed up in canon she was nothing like they broadcasted and everyone fics, art, and headcanons had to be put down like Old Yeller.

Now all the character arcs have been wrapped up, and they were concluded in pretty much the most direct and terrible ways possible. Successful practically falling on the ponies for minimal effort.

Aside from horse cock, I don't know a lot of artists who are truly inspired. The call of marshmallow softness can never truly die, but the desire to explore their personalities dried up when the show helped us realize the characters are pretty shallow in the end.

Not dead. There's still too much infrastructure built around the fandom for it to die. It's just that we're seeing a lot of state rehashes of the same content. Generals about the same old thing stretching on for longer than a year. People latching on to any new idea they can, giving us bat pones, moth pones, thing pones, or any fad that can be run into the dirt.

I mean hey, you could write about Twilight still, but who even is she anymore? The SHOW writers don't even have a grasp on Twilight's personality with all the whiplash changes she's gone through. There used to be a whole world to explore out there, but over time the world kind of shrank and the main characters started to dominate everything.

Dash is still retarded and self absorbed, but she's a Wonderbolt now, going to show that being retarded and self-absorbed is enough to rise to the top in pony world. These little shits we call our main characters are legitimately as smart, as fast, as strong, and as charismatic as they came. Horses are not clever animals in their world and I'm pretty sure a lone human could make a fortune in Equestria with a single college-level Econ 101 class. Every restaurant in Canterlot changed their menu to same retarded thing just because one noteworthy pony told them to, for fuck's sake.

I don't. I know it sounds like a meme, but this show is, literally, the only reason why I didn't kill myself during a severe depression some years ago. I no longer feel suicidal, eventually you overcome even the worst depressions, but I still can see that there isn't anything on my life. I'm a fucking empty shell.

All I want to know is where all the interview crap is.

I've searched through EqD despite their broken tag search system for the interviews tag, but I mostly get shitty comic writers.

Damnit, I just want to know what some of mom's plans were and I'm too lazy to break into Hasbro's office to steal her horse bible.

Possibly the dumbest thing I've read all day.
This is why fans of the fandom are cancer...how are you even a fan of the show? You just said pretty much that the show sucks and you're only here for the fandom.

Do you not fucking watch movies that came out in the 80s because you weren't alive yet?

>Have I missed out?
Yeah, kinda.

I had been posting on this one, fairly popular forum since 2005. When ponies took over /b/ I decided to get in on the fun and use ponies to troll. Eventually a general MLP thread got made and I made friends with a bunch of people who had got into the show. We had a lot of good times, including getting on Tiny Chat most weekends and just fucking around. Every now and then a few of us would have a few beers and get into all kinds of shenanigans. I remember one guy would put on plays for us with his lego characters since he was really into lego. There was another guy who was really fucking weird and he would do all this crazy shit like eating dog treats or just showing up on web cam completely naked. We had some good times and I've got more than a few stories from those guys.

But as time went on people started leaving. Forums in general had been steadily dying. We stopped hanging out on TinyChat and people just seemed to not be into pony anymore. After Twilicorn became official our group of about 40 regular posters had become 20 or so. Some people would post goodbyes and say that they just weren't into the show anymore and some would just disappear. When Five Nights of Furry became popular, a bunch of guys got really into that and the thread became completely about that shit. That was about the time I left as well.

Every now and then I check on that thread to see what's going on. The last time I visited, it seemed like the few that were still holding on had joined the SJW fad. No one was discussing the new episode that had just aired. One guy had become a tranny and the other people where flirting with him. It was quite disgusting.

TL;DR: You missed out on some fun times. But you also missed out on some bad times. The normies moved on with their lives and the autists moved onto other autistic fads. Everyone has moved on and we're just stuck here.

Nostalgia image for nostalgia thread.

Putting all your saltiness aside, I don't think you understand the question. Why not decide to check it out 3 or more years ago, when it was at the peak of it's popularity. I don't really think people would be just hearing about MLP now. And even if you did, why come here and get into the fandom now, when it's pretty much over?
>>
>>27714305
>Why not decide to check it out 3 or more years ago, when it was at the peak of it's popularity
Do you get into everything that's popular right this very moment? Some people don't take an interest or don't develop a curiosity until much later on. (Some people even prefer to wait to get into something until its popularity has died down.) Why do people still listen to old music? They didn't hear it or hear about it or become bored/curious enough to listen to it until now, long after the music has surpassed its popularity.

>Why come here and get into the fandom now, when it's pretty much over?
The fandom isn't over, let me just get that out of the way. But besides that, all the products of the fandom that someone might take an interest in don't go away. The show is still here, and the fanworks are still here, and if someone finds these things interesting they'll check it all out. And there are still people who are in the fandom that are willing to talk. Even if it's past its peak, the fandom content doesn't disappear. You can't help what you take an interest in. If you like it, and there's still something to be liked, you can get into it.
>>
>>27708643
I've pondered this too, but I really don't feel bad at all for never setting foot once in any other place other than this board for pony.

Unless you count derpibooru for porn
>>
>>27714483
>fandom content doesn't disappear
Some of it does, or at least it can get difficult to find. A lot of pony musicians get out of the pony game and end up deleting pony vids from their youtube accounts then music is harder to find.
Some shit gets BTFO from youtube entirely because of Hasbro.
Sites go down, forums die, and discussions fade into irrelevancy (if they weren't already)

At the very least you end up missing out on the shared experience and not knowing what's ahead. If you get into something once it's winding down, you can't really experience it the same way.
>>
>>27714523
>you can't really experience it the same way

I ask myself this same thing, Anon. Good times have come and gone for sure, but things are still here.

Here's a fellow fan's backstory: when I got into the show, I frequented the other pony sites and drew on DA for a time. But after a few years, I realized it was like most other fandoms. Good in some aspects, worse in others. I found /mlp/, eventually, and kinda felt at home here too. Not sure anymore what that says about us. Soon enough I fell out with the show entirely shortly after Twilicorn. But I come back here every now and then.

I think we all wanted to mimic the primary theme of the show and actually make some new friends. So one my biggest regrets were not really have done so. The ingenuity of FiM combined with the outpouring of good art, fanfiction, and fan lore was new and exciting for me, and what I considered the best part, so that may be why I overlooked being more sociable. I did make one that I still chat with every now and then, so that's something. Oddly enough, I slowly drifted apart from the friend who introduced me to this show in the first place.

I also regret never going to a con. Dressed normally of course, but to just be with the community, meet other fans, try and make friends... I think those of us who never attended one have missed out... However, I don't see myself going to one anymore.

At the end of that day, every person's experience with anything is unique and dependent on the person experiencing it. There might have been things you would have liked, and there might have been things that would pushed you away from the fandom. So... pic related.

Also... Love and tolerance, comrade.
