You know, I'll be honest, it's the fandom that drew me in. Sounds autistic, I know, but it's the facts. I realized that, although there were some really good episodes, most of them were clearly just filler that had no major impact on the show's episodes. The only reason I watch the show anymore is to understand who the new characters are and what they're like, get any references to events, places, etc. that happened/appeared in the epiode, and search for material that can easily be turned into lewd.

It's cute. I like how different the characters are and how they interact with each other. Some lines are legitimately funny.
I'm also kind of tired of how "adult" media needs to be filled with violence, swearing and sex. Like, I'm fine with those things and they can be used well, but once in a while it's nice to watch something innocent that's also entertaining. So I still watch cartoons, including the pony show.

One thing I like is how whenever they mention something girly, like a tea party, one character always shows their disapproval in someway. Or it's played for laughs, like how Fluttershy will have a tea party with a fucking bear.

I actually liked season one and two, but now I just watch the show to keep up with the references because the fandom produces one redeemable piece of half-funny material every month or so and my life is so offensively mediocre that those less-than-shitty pieces of fan content seem a lot better. The first two eps. are rather mediocre. What kept me watching was that (unlike many other little children's shows) it recognizes that the "prissy princessy" stuff is not for everyone works with that. The way Twilight reacts when Pinkie starts singing in 2nd ep. is perfect example of that.

I see where you come from. It's nice to get a break from the constantly violent and +18 medium of entertainment. But my idea of a good cartoon for innocent fun would be spongebob or adventure time. I can totally understand why people would watch mlp not because they thinks it's in depth and deep but because it's just an escape from hellhole that is real life.

Back in'11, kept seeing images of ponies in forum avatars and such. Being completely unaware of the new G4 show, decided to look it up.
Puzzled by it's popularity, I gave it a watch. I started to enjoy it. Was cute, well produced and made me smile and laugh.
That's where it ends for me though. Fanfiction, Rule 36 garbage and clopping is for faggots and always seen as weird as fuck...
