Rainbow rocks isn't bad. I dislike EQG overall because EQG 1 and Friendship games are utter Shit, but RR shows how it CAN be done well.
You give us a plot that has some new and enjoyable antagonists (like the Dazzlings), you try and make the music decent and not phoned in (like RR) and you keep the plot tight (Like in RR and not full of plot tumors like FG or requiring the other characters personalities to be sacrificed to work, like how the other 5 in EQG were brain dead retards to let Twilight be a messiah and fix everything in 5 seconds), and it can be enjoyable.
Bonus points if they try and explore ways to make the mane six different from their pony selves, like Giving Fluttershy some ambition and stuff that she works at (the animal shelter she works at for example gives her some more things to work with), or RD wanting to possibly be a rocker when she grows up in contrast to Pony dash.

Honestly, people comparing starlight and sunset makes no sense; their personalities are COMPLETELY different.

Twilight loses her crown, which is basically the equestrian equivalent of a nuclear bomb if it's in the wrong hands, Now what is her first instinct upon entering the human world? Besides screaming about how she's no longer a horse , She doesn't look for the crown, she just sings a song about how "She doesn't belong here" and then starts looking, Not that bad so far.
Now if you were her, you'd do anything to get the crown back to Equestria right? And this world doesn't mean shit to you because you don't live in it, So wouldn't you just take the crown and fuck off?
