I know that feel. If someone were to just edit out the wings from Cadence and Twatlight, slapped the treehouse over the castle and then cut out episodes with princessy shit I'd still enjoy the show as much as I did in the beginning. We still get some really good episodes every now and then that are ruined by a couple of misplaced pixels.
It's not even that I'm against the idea of Twilight becoming Celestia/Luna's successor, but I hardly see how the princess of friendship can be the successor of the princesses of the sun and moon. There are so many things in recent MLP that just make no sense to me, and I often pretend they don't happen just so that I can appreciate the lore more.
