pretty much spot on but the mods made for the combat are actually really good, like adding in modules that can allow ships to attack from only max range, strike craft attack from longer range and so on

Depends on what xenos you encounter, I have a tendency to find almost only xenophobic empires so I can't really get diplomacy done much
