Why lots of you anons are hiding your power level?
I know for some there is actual reasons and I want to know.
I'm not talking about the dirty stuff, only about your appreciation for the show and/or the characters.
As for me I'm actually 100% open about it.
I never had any problems because of it.
A couple of hilariously stupid comments on YouTube maybe but not more than that.
It never affected my daily life. And my relationship with any of my friends and family.
Even if my mother was kind of weirded and interrogative at first when she saw my funko vinyl for the first time.
Am I just lucky as hell?

Because /mlp/ has an extreme case of stockholm syndrome and thinks it has something to prove to the rest of 4chan, that we're not as autistic as the "next guy" and are just normal guys here for the porn, haha.
Of course the other boards will never fully accept MLP, and all this stupid fucking mindset has accomplished is to stifle most of the creativity and interesting discussion that could be found here.
I don't hide it, I have a /mlp/ scarf hung up on my wall, my backgrounds are usually pone related and I've had a chip tune version of winter wrap up as my ringtone for years. Never had any comments on any of it, it's almost like if you arnt autistic about it no one gives a fuck.
I don't forcibly bring it up in casual conversations, but I'm not afraid to admit I watch it either if it ever does come up. All my friends and family know my power level, but I don't force them to watch it. All but one of them think the show is dumb, but they all do give me pony merchandise for birthdays and Christmas, which I appreciate. They'll occasionally jibe me about it, which I'll take with a laugh and shoot back with something "Talking Dead" or capeshit related.
I consider wearing blatant "PROUD BRONY" clothing to be the same thing as forcibly bringing it up, so I'll never wear anything like that. I'm not against wearing subtle stuff that only fans of the show would recognize, though, like cutie mark keychain shit.

These days I don't hide my power level, I just acknowledge mlp is one of the cartoons I watch.
But back in early 2011 when I first got on the ride I sure as fuck had to hide it. The obsession level was incredibly strong. It was almost like falling in love - so much so that I hid it from my wife for the first few months. I spent half my waking hours thinking about pone. A couple times I got drunk and brought it up to friends, and I could tell by the look on their faces that I was coming off as a jabbering idiot showing WAY too fucking much enthusiasm for a little girls' cartoon, and it was obviously creeping them out.
These ays the blush is off the rose, and I can keep my cool about it, even joke about it. But for a while no one could know my secret, because I was full sperg about it.

I don't feel any obligation to go out in the world and promote Hasbro's 22-minute toy commercial (which I stopped watching over 2 years ago). Pone is for computer only...I keep it contained because that's how I enjoy it.

Pone is old meme now. The idea of grown men watching the show lost its power to shock anyone with an internet connection almost four years ago. And even the ride hasn't been the same since S3 (though S6 is good so far).
IDK about you, but I'm no longer so obsessed with it that I feel like I have to keep it secret. The shame I felt as a grown man completely obsessed with a cartoon for little girls isn't there, because I'm no longer completely obsessed with it. It's just another show I watch. Four years ago was a different story.

Anybody think there's a correlation between when you got on the ride and whether or not you hide your power level? It seems like it was much more common to hide it in the early days. It seems like those who came to the party one pone had already blown up the internet were much less likely to hide their power levels. Thoughts?
