Emerald approaches the door on the opposite side of the one he entered. Having not heard anything, he opens the door slightly and peers in.

It's a room full of reagents and various lab supplies. There is also a rack full of what appear to be complete potions.

What does Emerald do?

Emerald looks at the potions on the shelf. Luckily they are all labeled.

There are giant jugs of "Unholy Water", invisibility potions, something called "Fleshrot", "Veritasium Oil", and "Forever Fluid".

What does Emerald do?
>>
I see no point in stealing right now, as cool as they sound to have with us, add the fact that we probably don't understand the actual purpose of some of those anyway

As much as Emerald wants that invisibility potion, he doesn't feel it's right to steal at the moment. Emerald turns around and walks out the door back to the staircase.

>>
>no risks unless it's for gay porn

God this is an annoying group of people to play with
>>
>>27545275
Aw come on, why can't we take some of the potion, would they really miss that much? It's not like we have to take gallons or anything, wouldn't the same amount we drank before be sufficient? How much is sitting there? If it's the only thing sitting there, then that would be a lot more noticeable. Would the ingredients for it happen to be sitting next to it? We could always be a bit sneaky and see if we can't remember what Joy did to make it,(could we do an Intelligence roll for remembering what she did? I got here too late to give my vote on it when we were in the room).

>>27545306
Even though you're talking out of your ass about the risks about gay porn, i'm actually with you in wanting to take the invisibility potion. To me that just screams, hey you can eavesdrop with this, take it.

If he really gets that mad about it,(if LS even noticed right away, we could still make plans to replace it) say that we can compensate him for it later.
>>
>>27545506
Ok it says potions, I can't see much reason to not take at least one, cause I doubt he'd notice right away. And like I said, if he even notices we can always compensate him for one, we have a potion back at the ship if I remember correctly. Though, he'll probably want to know why we took it, we could just say that we were playing hide and seek with Ruby and wanted to make sure we could win,(that'd be straight up lying, but I imagine it'd be hard for them to call us out on it).

I'm going to go run some errands, so I'll update after I get back.
>>
>>27545619
Wait, why potions? Do we need more than one or something? Shouldn't just one be sufficient? Namely the invisibility.
>>
>>27545667
>The name "Veritasium" is a combination of the Latin word for truth, Veritas, and the suffix common to many elements, -ium. This creates "Veritasium", an element of truth, a play on the popular phrase and a reference to scientific elements.
Though that certainly sounds interesting in itself, though I have to wonder what exactly that would do as a potion. Maybe make a boost to your scientific knowledge or something?
>>
>>27545619
Don't steal when we can ask for some later. We'd also be able to find out about the others then and maybe learn some new stuff.
>>
>>27545681
Ok I keep babbling on here, but maybe we could even use a potion in combination with the invisibility potion, like for example that "unholy water" appear undead. He could possibly pour some of that on cloth of some kind and wrap it around himself so they can't use the detect life spell on him? If that would even work, I have no clue or not if that is even something that would be feasible with the potion.

>>27545713
But it's our best chance at eavesdropping unnoticed. Which is what we were trying to do as far as i'm aware of.
>>

>>
>>27545619

We just met the guy, let's not steal from him.
>>
>>27545763
No, we're debating on whether or not to steal from friends.
>>
>>27545769
He's proven to be ok, but like I said, how long would it be before he even noticed? He's not really our friend,(at least I don't consider him a friend, he fucking threatened to kill us/was going to kill us and i'm not forgiving him for it). But whatever happens I guess.
>>
>>27545769
"Friends" who only didn't murder us because they happen to know Joyride
>>
>>27545803
>>27545812
Whether or not he finds out immediately is irrelevant, stealing is still stealing. As for the threatening to kill us part, he is hiding in a remote village in a forest surrounded by security and we just walked in and took something that belonged to him. I was surprised that he actually kept us alive.

>>
>>27545881
A remote village that we didn't know actually had anyone in it, so we didn't even purposely steal it. As far as we knew, it was just something left behind. Let alone zombies that appeared and were trying to catch us, how many people would just stop and have a lil chat with em? That hardly justifies killing some one, how many other individuals have wandered in and were killed for "intruding"? That's a pretty shitty justification for doing something like that assuming they weren't actually out to get you. Don't pretend like he's a good guy, cause he's far from it. I don't give two shits about wanting to start over, i'll give him a bit of a pass for not actually killing us, though i'm not gonna pretend he's a nice guy for doing so. After we get out of here I never want to see any trace of him or LE again. This just makes me want to have the book burned just to spite him.
>>
>>27546025
I ain't pretending that he's a good guy. I'm acknowledging the mindset he has and trying to understand why he acted the way he did. He is a monster and, even though he can be nice and polite, his past experiences with living creatures has been them trying to kill him (or at least make him stay dead considering the whole lich thing). He has every reason to be paranoid and expect the worst. The important thing is that he was able to realize that we meant him no harm and that we could be trusted. Something that we'd ruin if we steal from him.
>>
>>27546072
Stealing a potion isn't the same as accidentally stealing that quite important to him book, and quite honestly I'm to the point I'm not sure I give a shit. As far as i'm concerned it's karma coming back to him a bit, how much is he gonna miss one little potion? Maybe two at the most.

I'm pretty sure he's ruined a lot of lives so I don't really feel that bad for him. Especially when his first reaction is to just off any "Intruders" and "thieves". He get's no sympathy from me.

I'm starting to think we should let Pip out, he's a bad pony/whatever he is and would deserve no less than to be burnt to a crisp. All the bad things he did don't just go away because he decided to not be a douchebag anymore. Admittedly I don't know the full extent of damage he did to other ponies lives, but I bet it was quite a bit.
>>
>>27546003
pls no shilling, we can use catalogs just fine.
>>
>>27546148
Why not run around destroying his entire lab while we're at it then? We could also walk up to his face and laugh at him about stealing his stuff, it isn't like he doesn't deserve it. Two wrongs don't make a right. Also we aren't some divine force, we're a colt deciding whether or not to knowingly steal from somebody.
>>
>>27546193
Cause we're gonna be subtle about it, not stupidly brazen. We are still in his place after all, it would not be smart to be openly defiant, even with Joy here. And no, stealing a potion is not being openly defiant, not by a long shot. I'm pretty sure he's well off enough he doesn't even need to worry about something like that. Why does he even have those things, do potions work on the undead?

And in his case it's his probably more in the double or triple digits wrongs vs our one wrong to him. The fact that you don't think he deserves something for being such an ass astounds me.

Why do you think he'd even care about a potion so much in the first place? I doubt it'd even be close to the book in terms of how much he'd care about it being gone. This is payback for even thinking about killing us, i'm a firm believer in fighting fire with fire sometimes.
>>
>>27546193
>Why not run around destroying his entire lab while we're at it then?
Because that wouldn't help, obviously.
There's a difference between doing something because it helps you and doing something because you're being actively malicious.
>>
I don't think stealing potions of unknown purpose or efficacy from the lab of our host is either wise or nice. We have other things to be about.
>>
>>27545619

The only advantage the potion would bring us is that we won't be as easily spotted once we do find them.

Hopefully we will be gone before they would even know one was missing.
>>
>>27546266
>>27546272
The point of that post was that two wrongs don't make a right. He might not give a damn, but if you do actually believe in karma than doing something wrong to him and thinking his past actions justify us would only count against us. Best case scenario is he doesn't notice anything and we get an invisibility potion and a guilty conscience. Worst case scenario is that he realizes that we betrayed his trust and stole from him, thus making him decide to never trust the living again. Do you really want to risk pushing him off the deep end for a measly potion that we don't even need?
>>
>>27546339
Also everybody seems to forget that they can sense the living without relying on sight. So not only is it an immoral idea, it is also a stupid one.
>>
>>27546339
Well I mean, if there were justice he would of been destroyed a long time ago. Yes two wrongs do make a right, circumstancially so and you're not going to convince me otherwise especially since it's mostly subjective like a lot of things in life. I'll admit that the subject matter of "karma" is a pretty slippery slope in itself. I suppose those that would deserve the chance to get back at him are, you know, dead. Or his undead slaves.

>thus making him decide to never trust the living again.
Oh boo hoo, cause killing anyone that comes by shows he has trust? Did you forget that he was gonna kill us had we not dropped a name? Joy is honestly probably the only reason we are alive. So it was being a friend of a friend that saved us.

>Do you really want to risk pushing him off the deep end for a measly potion
I'd like to push him off the deep end of something into a vat of acid if that's what you mean.

>>27546352
I did suggest using the unholy water with it in hopes of masking our presence, though i'm not sure it'd work, so that might be kinda risky. Not only that, but if they don't even suspect that we are there, then they wouldn't even use the detect life spell in the first place. So as long as we were careful they shouldn't even be suspicious of any presence.
>>
>>27546468

>I'd like to push him off the deep end of something into a vat of acid if that's what you mean.

Joyride would not like that.

>I did suggest using the unholy water with it in hopes of masking our presence,

Do we even know that it would work like that? What if it poisons us or does what Holy Water does to vamps.
>>
>>27546468
So you want to try convincing him to go back to using his undead army to conquer the world again?

Mixing a potion we know with one we know absolutely nothing about is an even more idiotic idea. It's not a spell, it's a sense. We have the stench of life.
>>
>>27546502
>Joyride would not like that.
Which is why i'm keeping it to passive aggressive transgressions.

We could put the Unholy Water on clothes and wear them over another layer of clothes or something, I wasn't suggesting ingesting it when I don't even know what it does exactly.

>>27546526
>So you want to try convincing him to go back to using his undead army to conquer the world again?
You know that would just prove my point further right? You don't get to shoot people and then try to have people feel sorry for you and then shoot them again when they don't feel sorry for you.

Besides, I already provided an idea of how to possibly thwart it above.
>>
>>27546568
We have absolutely no idea what Unholy Water does. For all we know it's a bottle of magical acid. I understand that you decided to hate everything about this guy and thus have no problem with doing anything against him, but please accept that others are either indifferent to him of, on some level, like him. I sincerely doubt that Joyride, who was his apprentice for a while, is without sin and I don't hear any blind hatred towards her.
>>
>>27546606
>I don't hear any blind hatred towards her.

>>
>>27546606
>I understand that you decided to hate everything about this guy and thus have no problem with doing anything against him, but please accept that others are either indifferent to him of, on some level, like him.

I'm not a big fan of him either. But this is his turf so to speak. I would rather have LS be a ally and teacher or at least friendly than him as yet another foe that's after us.
>>
>>27546628
So if the character isn't as pure as the driven snow you don't like them?
>>
>>27545306
Actually it's no risks if we don't need to take the goddamn risk.
>>
Oh, and I'm gonna throw life-detecting magic out there. Have fun with that invisibility potion.
>>
>>27546659
>So if the character isn't as pure as the driven snow you don't like them?

That's not what I said. I said that there was a few people that really hated Joyride and they made a big fuss about her pimping Emerald out and her general aloofness.
>>
>>27546678
I posted that more out of jest than as a serious question.
>>
>>27546678
they are not around anymore.
>>
>>27546683

Sorry but I missed the joke. Must be the fact that I'm a different anon than the one fussing about LS.
>>
>>27546606
I did say he can prove to be nice when he wants to be, but that doesn't excuse him for being a fuckhead that was about to kill us. And that's one of the reasons I really really really don't like him and I certainly wouldn't feel bad for him if he got screwed over a little.

>I understand that you decided to hate everything about this guy.
Nah just the parts about being him being a power hungry homicidal jackass that tried to take over, and recently was going to kill us.

>We have absolutely no idea what Unholy Water does.
I can only guess too, but I really doubt it's like acid. Whatever it was just a suggestion afterall.

>but please accept that others are either indifferent to him of, on some level, like him.
The fact that some people are even indifferent to him when he was going to kill us,(I mean seriously, that's one of shittiest things you can do to someone you just met. Sure there are worse things, but that hardly makes up for that fact) is what baffles me by how illogical it is. So no I won't accept it, I acknowledge it, but i'm not accepting it.

>>27546665
The "Fleshrot" potion actually sounds like it would have the best chance of throwing off their magic/senses, but that obviously sounds pretty risky in itself.

LE did say that LS's senses were'nt as strong as hers. So I think as long as we were sneaky they shouldn't even know we are there. And we could get away with just using the invisibility potion.
>>
>>27545619
I'm going to err on not taking the potions. I don't 100% trust Ol' Cloakey either but the fact he's already been generous enough to let us go, use his library and tour around his village is enough to tell me he's not so bad. I don't think it'd be a good idea to do something that would wear out that generosity, regardless of whether he finds out or not. We'd be stealing against someone who may not be our friend, but is still someone who chose not to kill us and made us his guest.

Second, we also don't know for sure what these potions could do to us. They may be labeled for certain things, but exactly how they may affect us is still a big question. We may know what some of them are, but we don't know how much is necessary to take effect, if drinking a certain amount would be poisonous, or whether they would even work on us. We need to remember these are LS's potions, not Joyride's; for all we know, these may only work on undead, or worse, could be fatal to the living.

(Sorry, meant to update more today... But then I went and bought Overwatch and now it's time for bed.)

Unsure of where to go next, Emerald peers carefully into each door in turn.

The first door is full of giant clay cauldrons with tops sitting all in rows stretching all the way back to a door across from the entrance Emerald is at now.

The second is the lab.

The third is not lit in any way, and Emerald can hardly see into the room at all, however he does here voices. Unfortunately Emerald doesn't think they are the voices of Joyride or Lord Sepulcher.

The fourth is full of cages full of some sort of undead creatures. Emerald knows they are undead because they are mostly bone suffused with metal to hold their frames up. There is another door across the room from here.

Emerald opens the fifth apprehensively, and inside he spots nothing more than a giant obsidian slab. Around the walls are various tools, all in different states of disrepair and rust.

The sixth is full of weapons and armor, much like the first room they are all set in racks in rows all the way to the back of the room where there is another door.

...And the bottom is still the library, and still empty.

You touch the monolith, for one brief shining moment you have answers to all your problems save for the fact that you have just touched the monolith.

It is full of stars!

The next moment your heart bursts in your chest and your mind collapses in upon itself under the weight of the realization that you too are made of star stuff.

It tastes faintly of snozberries.

Emerald enters the room with all the clay pots.

It is indeed, just full of giant clay pots. They are all roughly the same size, but there is some slight variation between them.

What does Emerald do?

Emerald is very curious about what is in the pots, but he instead goes over to the door and listens to see if he can hear anything. It's completely silent, and Emerald opens the door a crack to see inside.

The entirety of the room houses a huge clay pot with a winch attached to the cover, probably to help take it on and off.

On the side of the room is a lever that if Emerald had to guess, probably lifts the top off the pot.

What does Emerald do?

Hey, what was that suggestion for my patreon goals that the one anon posted? I think I'll fiddle with it today once I get home.
>>
>>27569235

Here's what I what I wrote last time:

Well okay. I'm no Patreon user myself but I might suggest a few things.

Maybe for $5 a month a early preview of a drawing?

Maybe for $10 a month you draw a B&W sketch of a character's OC?

For $25 a month a color drawing of their choice?

For $50 a month maybe something special?

As for goals maybe start with whatever programs, tools, and hardware you need to buy in order to improve your skills and time?

Perhaps from there maybe another goal could be for animations or streaming program/equipment... etc.

Sorry that I don't have a better suggestion these are off the top of my head.

Had to do a double take with you using that vector image. Thought you might be an imposter.

Anyway, go to one of the rooms that had a door in it we never opened. Carefully have a peeksie.

I don't want to open the jars, I already have a guess at what's in 'em; and it's a look at where our organs would've gone if our dead ass had ended up on Sepulchur's operating table.

If we can't find her anywhere, let's go for a walk in that door that had nothing but blackness in it. After we toss something in to make sure it isn't an "out of bounds" area like clipping through a map in a vidya

Emerald leaves and walks back up to the top of the stairs and into the drawing room. He gives one of the zombies a poke, and he looks up distractedly.

Emerald asks if Joyride and Lord Sepulcher came this way. The zombie smiles and gives a nod, commenting that they went through the door Emerald just acme out of and then goes back to his work.

Emerald shrugs and heads back through the door. Only a few rooms they could be in now. Thinking on it a bit, Emerald realizes the door with the Obsidian slab didn't have any doors leading off of it, so they probably aren't in that room.

Where does Emerald go?

(Last for the night.)

Emerald goes into the unlit room. There were voices in there after all. Maybe he was wrong and it was actually Lord Sepulcher and Joyride's voice.

Emerald walks in, and seeing as it's unlit and incredibly dark, he uses his light spell.

It appears to be a bunch of metal working stations set in a row going down a far hallway... At least as far as he can see. His light spell doesn't seem to be going as far as it does usually.

What does Emerald do?

Emerald proceeds carefully ahead, the scraping and the muttering getting louder with each step.

Emerald stops with a thrill of horror as a pair of claws come around the side of one of the columns. A strange creatures pulls itself around it to look at Emerald, floating hauntingly in mid-air. Much like the kraken, it seems to be part carcass and part machine. This one seems to have bug eyes. claws, a pincer hand, razor sharp teeth, and thick, rope-like wires where his legs should be.

>Rolled 2, Passed

As far as Emerald knows the thing is real, and coming at him at his own, slow pace. Emerald yells at it again that he is a guest and that Lord Sepulcher will have something to say if he does anything.

"DoN't LiE, tHiEf..." The creature says, reaching out his claws towards the colt.

Emerald runs down towards the weapon and armor room. As he opens the door he looks back at the spectre-like creature. It's still following him, but not as fast as Emerald can get away it seems.

He ducks into the room and sees pretty much all manner of weapons he can imagine. They all seem a little... Odd to him, but Emerald can't put his finger on why. Perhaps because they all have a sharp, spiky sort of look to them?
