I thought it was a very nice episode. Nice comfy slice of life, relatable and realistic source of tension between Rarity and Applejack, solid lesson, and I liked the RD gag.

I feel the same way. It's the first episode in this season so far that left me feeling good about what I just watched. We need more calm, slower episodes.
Are the only ones who can farm at all, I thought. I have always assumed a non-earth pony trying to farm would just get nothing, seeds planted by them would not germinate. Otherwise that one episode where they explain how they stopped being racist at each other makes no sense, the unicorns and pegasi would have just started farming their own food. My headcanon was always just they did not have that option because only earth ponies can farm.
See this is shit Faust would have enforced and we're just so far from that now. Yet another worldbuilding detail either forgotten or thrown away because they wanted this gag. I find that sort of shitty.

And so, even though the main character there was characterized very well and made likable and relateable, that one was also heavily shit on by Applefags who would rather call it the worst thing ever and discourage any mature discussion of it than admit their favorite pony isn't perfect. i like to think that earth ponies have more experience with the subject, their bodies are already biologically prepared to dealing with this shit due to generations of practice, its kinda like how women are more sensitive to high pitched sounds when they are asleep which makes them wake up more easily if a child is crying, this and earth ponies having family secrets and other stuff that is passed down, like the Zap Apple rituals and other shit that may or not be legit because superstitions, this would also explain why Applejack never questioned her methods before
