I think it's overrated tbqh
though I have never been good at pvp and don't play those types of games
>>
>>27443210
I was super addicted to TF2 for a while there, and this is just like a shinier version of it, with less hats. So I'm all over it
>>

And you're stuck at 10 people, get penalized for leaving during a match, can never play a custom map, and can only spray the family friendly pictures you paid blizzard to unlock.
>>
>>27438943
Is there a place where I can buy that exact plush? I will literally pay anything that's not more than $200.
>>
>>27443540
Fuck it, I'll go up to $300. I can prob make it back within a couple weeks.
>>
>>27443564
Looks like it's one of epicrainbowcrafts's. Which could be about 300 dollars or a lot more, depending on the size.
>>
im tempted to start trying to make these things.
>>
>>27443620
It takes some practice, but once you get it, it's worth it

And if nothing else, you'll learn some sewing skills, which are always a good thing to have
>>
>>27443660
I learned a few skills on my elementary school, which is the main reason im tempted to expand on them.

Is there anything in particular I should consider with the choice of materials, thread and filling? I should still have sowing supplies laying around in terms of needles and thread.
>>
>>27443587
Fuck dude, I checked out his page. The plush in the pic would probably go for like $500-600. Serious tho, even though they're amazing ain't that a bit much for just some stitched-together cloth?
>>
>>27443674
How the hell do you remember anything from elementary? Also, you would probably be better off privately-emailing professional plush-makers instead of asking random faggots on 4chan.
>>
>>27443711
Its a skill, like riding a bike, you never forget. But I have occasionally fixed stuff up since then. Im the only one in the household that doesnt have 2 left hands.

And spend five years learning how to make anything decent? The only time I've ever sewn anything was in 3rd grade for art class, and it was one of those 'ugly doll' things people send to each other as a gag.
>>
>>27439387
Brother SE400 is a good machine for a starting plush artist.
>>
Anyone here know of anyones who sells semi-decent plushes in the $100 range? i'm not looking for absolutely amazing quality, but I don't want it to look like a failed abortion that gets beaten with a hammer everyday (like the $25 ones.)
>>
>>27443674
Well, Minky is the standard forost pro plushes. But I'd say start out with fleece until you get a few under your belt. Filling, poly fill is the way to go. Thread is whatever is handy and doesn't break constantly

Check the plush list in the op. It really depends on the type of plush you're wanting. If you're thinking beanies, you can actually get pretty decent quality ones for that budget, and even top tier ones from EP if you're willing to dosh out $30-$50 over that. If you're wanting "regular" standing plushies though, it's going to be hard to get anything decent for just $100.
>>
>>27446096
This
>>27448090
That's how you get the files. Physically doing it requires a few steps for prep, threading the machine, clipping jump stitches, etc.
>>
>>27451794
Like, the hasbro toys customized, or "made from scratch" type?
>>
>>27451794
I have a little experience with woodcarving and a lot with warham fuckery, Id be interested in at least attempting to make my own. My big problem is that I dont really know of any decent hobbyshops near where I live, and I dont know what material to go for. I should be alright on tools.

>>
>>27452575
Generic pony patterns that have been perfected over months, if not years. It took a lot longer for an Ember plush to be made.
>>
>>
>>27444577
how about you get a fucking job? saving 500 bucks isnt hard. just budget, and put away 10, 20, 50, even 100 bucks (whatever you can afford) from every paycheck. and eventually you can buy your doll asshole
>>
>>27452575
Bruh, have you been to the streams? It's obvious how long they take. People who produce these right after the episode airs start literally in the middle of the episode and don't finish until late that night or the next day, take pictures at first light, edit, and post. It still takes them 15 hours start to finish at least.
>>
>>27453334
Not that anon but they probably start even sooner than that from viewing the teasers and trailers and leaked images of a new pony character.

>>27444577
Then just don't buy any. That will leave more commission slots for the people who really want a pone.

>>27468203
You don't need it, but you're going to be spending a lot more time hand sewing then.

Consider this. A straight stitch along one foot of fabric takes 30 seconds on a sewing machine. It will take 30 minutes hand sewing.
>>
>>27468203
you can get a cheap one for around 100 bucks
it will be a huge help when you use applique for the eyes and Cutiemarks

>>27468596
>It will take 30 minutes hand sewing.
no fucking kidding
I can attest to that. it can take longer if you're double stitching
don't even get me started on doing a life size
a sewing machine will make it go a fuck tons faster, especially if you're one who doesn't have a lot of free time

you might try a local pawn shop, sometimes they have sewing machines for cheap, and they have to be in working condition in order for them to to take it in the first place
>>
>>27468706
Thrift stores too are great for sewing machines occasionally. Try the more local, not chain ones (ie, not Goodwill and Salvation Army)
>>
washing your minky insert is so much easier if you have a washer/dryer at home
it's slightly annoying to see it rotate to the front of the windows of the machines in the public laundry-mats
especially if all you really wear are dark clothes, then you see this bright pink rectangle slapping against the window as if to say, >"look at me!" *slap, "I totally want, " *slap, "you to wonder what," *slap, "I am for in this guy's laundry!" *slap

Alright, I'm gonna sound like a 12yr old kid here, but I've never really been a drinker.

All the vodka I've seen is 45% or 50%, and that straight tastes like rubbing alcohol. I've literally never seen any other alcohol percentage for vodka. Are the Russians so badass they just don't care, or are there elusive 20% or whatever vodkas?
>>
>>27475614
Dude millions of people like vodka, and millions don't. It's fine.
>>
>>27475614
I'll add one other thing, get smirnoff vanilla vodka if you want a more newbie-friendly vodka! It's smooth as hell, and if you can't take that, you might just not be a hard liquor person.
>>
>>27475625
>>27475636
I like vodka mixed with orange juice or sprite at a 1/3 ratio. It's just literal STRAIGHT vodka tastes what hand-sanitizer smells like.

That vanilla shit tastes too non-alcoholic, though. More like some slightly off soda..
>>
>>27475692
I'm not a huge vodka guy myself. I prefer rum, usually spiced like Admiral Neilson or the captain.
>>
>>27475614
Oddly I love vodka, but cant stand beer.
Also cant stand wine, might try rum and whisky sometime.

Might be a rare breed of hard liquor only.

That or I am just so dead inside and it tastes how I feel.
>>
>>27475720
The only vodka I really liked was Orange New Amsterdam. Mixed it with OJ and code red. Damn good
>>
>>27475692
Well yeah, straight vodka is 90% of the time just going to taste like alcohol. No flavor, no fun.

That's why you mix it with shit. Unless it's super high end vodka, or made in small batches by some local distiller, vodka will not have a taste by itself.
>>
>>27475692
it might taste non alcoholic, but its 35% instead of 40%, still gets the job done easily.

God, I remember that stuff. There was a whole debate in my state with all of the different 'flavored' Smirnoffs (vanilla, cupcake, whipped cream, ice cream) with concerned parent groups screaming, "THEY'RE MARKETING THIS FOR KIDS."

I don't really give a shit either way. I worked at a bar during this time, and the vanilla one was a big seller.
>>
>>27476623
And so am I.
>>
>>27476634
Flavored means its for kids? Jeezus tapdancing christ, what state do you live in? They obviously hate variety at parties, or maybe parties in general.

Yeah, I have to avoid the vanilla sometimes because it leads to feeling terrible at work the next day because I drank a third of the bottle, and then finished the other two thirds the next two nights. I can't do that with regular vodka, It will sneak up on moderate light drinker.
>>
>>27476634
I really don't know what's up with today's parents. When I was 14~ my parents would literally go out and buy vodka and whiskey for me as long as I only drank on Saturdays and they were home to make sure I didn't do anything stupid.

Heh oh really... like those flavored cigarillos? Well, I try to stick to beer these days anyways. I just can't do liquor anymore. This past year hard liquor started to cause way too much headache the next day than is worth it. Seems like just a year ago my body would shrug it off no problem, getting older sucks. Owning plush keeps me from buying a pack of smokes now and then like I used to as well, I'd hate for that smell to get onto them!

Alright, got the rest of the fabric marked and cut out according to the pattern, that took way longer than I expected.

Going to applique the eyes and CM on tomorrow and maybe start some of the sewing, I'll start worrying about the mane and tail when I get closer to that part.
>>

Yeah, I never worry about the mane and tail until it's all stuffed and the head is sewn on. Usually the last thing you do in plush production

>>
>>27484226
Yeah I see what you're saying now. Doesn't really make sense anatomically I agree, but that's just how other plush makers do the front legs generally. I studied a whole bunch of other laying down plushies while making my pattern. Pic related.
>>
>>27481997
I personally like to lay the head pattern out on a big sheet of paper, trace it, then patter then mane off of that. Doing it from the original size usually takes care of the shrinkage that occurs during sewing and turning

May not make sense anatomically for a real horse, but it's apparently just how pone legs work.

Got an inquiry and I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

I recently acquired a life size pony plush. The guy had made her, but the buyer backed out at the last minute so I bought her dirt cheap. He also de-stuffed so I had to stuff fluff back into it, which was fine by me. But here is my issue; She is three foot tall so her head holds a considerable amount of fluff which means she cannot hold it up in any sense. It simply flops back down. I have arranged her so it looks like she's putting her head on top of her hooves and resting. Is there any way I can add so support so her head can at least stay upright? I want a support that can bend so her head isn't stuck in one position, but still strong enough to support the head.

Is that doable and what would I need? Note that I have re-stuffed her, but have NOT sewn her back up so I can easily remove the stuffing to apply any such support inside without issue.
>>
>>27484570
Maybe foam in the neck for strength or lighter stuffing in the head to make the head lighter? Life size pones will have heavy heads and sometimes it cannot be avoided to have the head flop.
>>
>>27484583

What kind of foam would you believe would be best? And lighter stuffing? Is that possible?

I was just curious as to how it could be done, if it could be done at all. If not, she could have her head flop, that's fine. I will just cuddle with her and hold her the same.
>>
>>27484570
>I recently acquired a life size pony plush.
>not posting pics
>>
>>27484002
that looks legitimately kickass
>>
>>27484593
Reading your initial post again and seeing that her head flops forward, this may not be resolved. Some standing pattern ponies have stronger stitching in the back of the neck/spine and their heads naturally flop back or to either side. Don't know what kind of foam would work, if it would work. My life size mare's head will flop back or to one side if I move her at first. She will hold a nice position usually when she is sitting on her hind legs.
>>
>>27484570
Upholstry foam skeleton maybe?

also post pics damnit

Sorry about that.

Here she is.
>>
>>27484626

Hmm, possible. The initial images of her show her sitting with her head upright because of the positioning of her hind legs. So, perhaps I do not need to add any support, just to get her hind legs to hold a certain way.

>>27484932
Life size commissions often go for 1k+ though. Some even 2k if they're super complex.
>>
>>27484962
epicrainbowcraft's life size ones cost 850, but his are usually more complex than average.

In the end, even though they're hard to make and in demand, you can't sell them for so much pay.
>>
>>27484965
if i had that spitfire, I'd be a fool to sell it for 300-600, on ebay it will most likely go a couple hundred above that just in the bidding war all by itself, as long as it comes out decent and it'd help if EQD features it.

>>27484932
If 300: i'll take ten please.

ERCs plushes are shit. They are overpriced, undersized garbage. They only look good in pictures because he chooses 2 angles per photoshoot and "photoshops" blemishes out with paint (badly). He claims exaggerated sizes and charges much more for them than the norm.

If you want a good plush that is gonna last more than a month and actually a true 3+ ft tall, you're gonna pay at least 1000, but more like 1200-1700 for a decent pone. Most people making them aren't even pulling minimum wage with those prices, so yes, they absolutely can sell them for that much, and honestly deserve more.

I'm not really an expert here, but have you run through all the real basic things when troubleshooting? Like:
>rethread the machine, top and bottom
>reseat or change the needle
>reseat the shuttle and bobbin
>swap out for a new bobbin
>make sure it's all clean and blow out dust

My older machine would sometimes jam up when I would take off the needle plate, the shuttle was finicky and would have to be seated just right or it would fuck up.
