Challenges like:
>taking hangar inventory
>visiting a princess
>getting airship upgrades
>harvesting giant crystals
>conducting interviews with the adoring public
>trying to disable electrical towers
>standing up for the little guy... er, mare
>leading expeditions into the Everfree Forest
>navigating dangerous terrain
>meeting mysterious zebras
>learning about Dokidoki folklore
>evading deadly timerbwolves
>crossing dangerous, rickety bridges
>putting the miniature moves on Gulliver
>investigating spooky old castle ruins

Speaking of which...

>'Gulliver seems like he wants to check out the castle... Might be neat, but it's already getting late...'

"Uh... Is that safe?"

Gulliver mulls this over, then shrugs. "Okay, makes sense..." His horn glows, as do several of the flowers.
But then the flowers begin to move. They twist and point their blooms at Gulliver. A look of fear spreads across his face as they begin to crackle, and their pistils burst into sparks.

>"Abort, ABORT! EVERY PONY FALL BACK!!"
Gulliver makes a clumsy mad dash around the corner of the ruins while Feather Dust kicks the Ednosptrad II into full reverse. The pistils of the flowers burn down like fuses, quickly passing the petals and into the disks. Feather Dust is only barely around the corner when several loud cracks ring through the air. White-hot streams of magical pollen burst forth like Romane candles. Coco squeaks fearfully as the projectiles arc through the air and come down just feet from the envelope.
>"Go, go, GO!!"
To Feather Dust's eyes and ears, the pyrotechnic plants are like cannon fire. Great balls of flame soar through the air, striking the castle walls between her and them with thunderous impacts. The patch of grass down below goes up in smoke as it is bombarded by miniature meteorites. One of them comes down right in front of the windshield as the Ednosptrad finally clears the bend, missing it by inches. Feather Dust cries out in surprise, releasing the port rudder and pressing her hoof onto the pedal so hard she can feel the wires underneath it. The ship scoots back, before suddenly lurching sharply up and back amidst several rapid thumping sounds that gradually increase in volume until a single loud THUMP echoes through the gondola, sending Feather Dust and Coco flying backwards as the Ednosptrad II jerks to a halt.

Feather Dust tilts the engine down; the Ednosptrad ascends at a shallower-than-usual angle, and on a slightly crooked trajectory.
>>
>>27464536
Call out to Gulliver and ask what's going on. Did we take damage?
>>
>>27464536

Probably call out to Gulliver and Zeocra and make sure they're all right, then ask for a damage report. Do a quick inspection of the inside of the gondola and make sure nothing got jarred loose inside.

Based on the sounds, we probably took a big thump to the envelope, make sure we're not leaking or we don't have something explosive stuck to us.
>>
>>27464749
Something on the envelope sounds likely. Engine damage would only slow our ascent, and sail damage would only cause the crooked steering. Something on the envelope would do both.

Feather Dust kills all auxiliary power except downward and assesses the situation.
>"Coco, are you okay?"
The ant looks a little rattled, her antennae twitching and her jaws clicking every which way. However, she's unharmed.
>"Okay, good. I think we hit something!"
She gets to her hooves and returns to her post, adjusting the megaphone.
>"Gulliver, Zecora, are you okay?!"
"I'm not on fire, am I?" Gulliver asks nervously. Feather Dust climbs out of the top hatch and gives her roommate a once over.
>"I don't think so... Where's Zecora?"
"Do not fear." the zebra says, stepping out from behind a tree. "I am here. That plant gave us all quite a fright; is everypony alright?"
"I think the Es..pon... airship bumped into my helmet." Gulliver answers, rubbing the side of his pot. "Good thing I had it, or that might have smarted."
>"We hit your head?"
"Yeah, it looks like you backed right into me." Gulliver points at the aft end of the Ednosptrad II. "Have a look."
Feather Dust creeps along the outer hull and peers down at the idle propeller. Two of the blades have been bent, and a third is hanging by a thread. The whole assembly seems to have been forced sideways from the impact, as well.
>>
>>27465119
Look like we are getting new propellers that are more stronger then these one.
>>
>>27465119
Okay, well we can bend the aluminum frame of the propellor back into shape since it's all still on there just bent, but we're going to need new blades since they're falling off. Do we have anything lightweight but stiff?
>>
>>27465187
Worst case scenario we can cut new blades out of the foam of one of our sails and just make three lefts any time we want a right.

>"Aw, crap... I need a new propeller."
Gulliver and Zecora squint at the battered assembly. "...It just looks kinda bent to me." Gulliver remarks.
>"Yeah, but the blades are all screwed up. If they fall off, I'm dead in the water."
"...You mean in the air?"
>"Quiet, you. The point is that I need to do some emergency repair work. Boatswain, bring me some rope!"
"What about Zecora's plant?" Gulliver asks, peering nervously towards the corner of the castle wall. "If you fix your ship, what's going to stop those fire flowers from busting it up again?"
"Perhaps I should handle the flowers, so we don't set off any more fire showers." Zecora suggests. "I'll use your helmet as we agreed while you make the repairs that you need."
>"Are you sure that's a good idea, Ze? I have armor and Gully has magic. You'd have to get right up in their grill to get those uppity tulips."
Zecora closes her eyes and smiles. "If I can take them by surprise, they'll be in my grasp before they realize. It's not the approach I'd normally use, but compared to you, I have much less to lose."
Gulliver gives Feather Dust his patented 'I don't think this is a good idea...' look.
>>
>>27465669
Let's not take the risk. Catch them in the pot using magic since it's safer, and Gulliver can tow us around by a rope like a balloon for a while (after all, the lift is still fine). We'll make the repairs when we get back to the hut so we don't put Zecora's safety on the line.
>>
>>27465766
Can't we catch the plants and THEN repair the ship?
>>
>>27465933
See if we have time after collecting the plants. If we do then go for it, but I don't want to be out here too late. I'm sure this place is full of monsters after nightfall.

>"Zecora, I don't think that you should risk it. Using magic will be safer, and the repairs can wait a little while. Gulliver can just tow me like a balloon in the meantime. Right, Gully?"
"Yeah, and it's getting too late to see too well, anyway..." he muses as Feather Dust rappels down to his head and moors her ship. "I don't know if we should risk it out here. Maybe when we get back to the hut we can do it...?"
"Whatever you say." Zecora answers with a small nod and the hint of a grateful smile. "We'll do it your way - that is, if we can. So, what exactly is the plan? Simply floating the pot up to the bush won't do - the flowers will just begin their assault anew."

With a cocky smile on her face, Feather Dust adjusts her captain's hat.
>"You're right, Zecora, charging blindly at our foe won't help us. So, we're going to use a pincer attack, troops! Here's the plan: I'll distract those hotheaded weeds with some suppressing fire; Zecora, you sneak behind their lines with the pot while I've got them trained on me, and then ambush them from behind when they least expect it!"
A twinkle appears in the zebra's eye. "Understood!" she responds. "Give me the pot, and I'll give it a shot."
Gulliver relinquishes his beloved helmet, his ears instinctively flattening against his head now that his precious noggin is no longer protected. Armed with her containment device, she puts a hoof to her lips and then points at the trees to the right of the shrub, deliberately arching her hoof. Feather Dust and Gulliver nod in affirmation, and Zecora silently slinks off between the trees, her stripes quickly camouflaging her as she vanishes into the shady underbrush.
>"Gulliver, get me some rocks."
"Uh... Aye-aye, Captain...?" He answers uncertainly, glancing down at the ground and focusing on a small patch of gravel. His horn begins to glow, and a small heap of gravel scoops itself up and levitates up to the top hatch of the Ednosptrad.
>"Thanks, now scooch me to the corner so I can see those stupid ornery flowers."
"Okay... Be careful." Gulliver warns, pushing the airship forward ever so slightly with his snootle.
>"Little more... That's it...!"
Feather Dust grabs a small pebble and takes aim.
>"SUCK ROCKS, GONORRHEA FLOWERS!!!"
The pitifully small projectiles barely clear the hull, plummeting harmlessly to the ground. The firecracker plant doesn't even budge.

Feather Dust's heart drops. This wasn't part of the plan!
>"Gulliver, my girly arms are too weak! Throw these pebbles for me!"
"Are you serious...?" Gulliver sighs. "Fine..."
But Gulliver's luck isn't much better: The pebbles are just too small, and Gulliver's magic isn't strong enough to fire them at bullet speeds.
>"Gulliver, your girly magic is too weak! Push us closer!"
"I don't want to get closer to the flowers that spit fire at us!" Gulliver protests.
>"Then nudge me towards them! I'm not scared!"
"Maybe you should be!"
>"Stop being such a wimp and do it already! Full speed ahead! Gogogogo!!"
Gulliver sighs irritably and takes a few careful steps forward.
However, the flowers don't move. In fact, it looks like they're drooping a bit compared to when the two ponies saw them earlier.

The stallion gulps and trudges a bit closer.
Again, there is no movement.

">..."
"...Maybe they're sleeping." Gulliver offers.
>"Flowers don't sleep, Gully. Wave a stick at them. Maybe they need bait."
Gulliver backs away from the bush and grabs a nearby broken branch, which he levitates over to the firecracker flowers and shakes lightly.
Immediately, the flowers stand at attention once more and their pistil-fuses ignite.
>"Behind the wall, BEHIND THE WALL!"
The two ponies beat a hasty retreat, dropping the branch in the process. The flowers aim down at it and open fire, their volatile salvo smashing it to splinters. Gulliver and Feather Dust carefully peek out at the warzone, watching as the flowers' ordnance mercilessly shreds the tree branch's defenses. The senseless destruction brings a tear to Feather Dust's eye. Not since whatever the last war the French pretended to fight in has there been such horror on the battlefield.
But then Feather Dust sees something that gives her hope: A dark shadow pulls itself away from the castle wall behind the bushes. A metallic glint catches the ponies' eyes a second before the shape lunges forward and swings down with enough speed to snap several of the flowers clean off. A few muffled cracking sounds can be heard underneath the pot before it goes still.

For a moment, Feather Dust and Gulliver can only watch in stunned silence.
>'That couldn't have just happened.'
But as the seconds tick by, what the two young ponies just witnessed slowly begins to sink in.
Feather Dust doffs her captain's hat.
Coco lowers her head and chirps a sad little chirp.

Here's an English lesson for you.

Correct: Did Zecora just pull a disappearing act?

Incorrect: Did Zecora just pulled a disappearing act.

In this sentence, you should use the past tense. However, the verb that changes tenses is do, not pull.

Did Zecora pull a disappearing act?
Zecora did pull a disappearing act.
Zecora does pull a disappearing act.

>"Uh..."
Gulliver picks his sad head up and follows Feather Dust's gaze. "...Huh? Whuh... Where'd she go?"
"Do not fear." a familiar voice suddenly calls from the tree line to their right, making Gulliver yelp and jump back. "I am here."
"Zecora!" Relieve breaks across Gulliver's face as he and Feather Dust run up to the slightly sooty zebra.
>"You're okay! But how did you do that...?"
"Did you just pulled a disappearing act?" Gulliver asks, dumbfounded.
>"Mind your English, Gully. 'Do' is the only verb that needed to be used in the past tense, not 'pull.'"
"Whatever!" the unicorn snaps.
Zecora chuckles softly. "Disappearing? Not quite; sorry for the confusion. What you saw was merely smoke and illusion. A trade secret, if you will; a zebra is not so easy to kill. But perhaps we should talk about it at home; it's not safe here at night to roam."

>"Can you make it back, Zecora? You look like you took a beating from those flowers."
"I promise that I will be okay," Zecora replies, barely a strain in her voice despite the copious burns and scrapes on her, "so long as we leave while there's still some day."
Gulliver looks up at the deepening purple of the dusky sky. "The Sun's already gone down." he mutters. "We better hurry back. Climb on, Zecora."
"I wouldn't wish to be a burden..." Zecora begins.
"Don't worry about it!" Gulliver quickly dismisses her, crouching down low enough so his box armor is settled on the ground. "I carry Dusty all the time. Like right now, actually!"
>'Thanks, Gully.'
Zecora gives Gulliver a grateful look as she gingerly climbs onto his back. "While I'd rather not, it is a pain to trot. So, thanks a lot."
Gulliver smiles broadly, a blush creeping across his face as he straightens up. "Don't mention it... Hold on tight, everypony."
Like a giant cardboard turtle, Gulliver carefully and steadily trudges back the way the group came. His gait slows and shudders a bit as he comes to the bridge, but thankfully no more planks break beneath him. After that, the rest of the trip back down the ridge is smooth sailing. As the canopy grows ever darker, Gulliver uses his magic to light the nearly-imperceptible path through the trees. In the dim glow, Feather Dust notices an unusual sheen to his coat.
>'He's sweating like a pig...'
>"Hang in there, Gully. We're almost back."
The unicorn stallion exhales and nods. After a few moments, a single light in the darkness becomes visible up ahead.
"Made it..." Gulliver breathes as the dark shape of the hut comes into view.
"Thank you very much for the ride." Zecora says, giving Gulliver a somewhat rueful look. "Would you two like to come inside? We've all but run out of daylight; your both welcome to stay here for the night."

>"Great job, Gully! That was the most effort I've ever seen you put into anything! See Zecora, I keep him around for a reason."
Gulliver clicks his tongue with annoyance as he pushes the door open and brings Zecora inside.
>"Seriously, though, sttaying for the night sounds like a good idea. This forest is dangerous enough during the day. If some pony that lives in it says it's a bad idea to be out in it at night, I'll take their word for it."
It doesn't look like Zecora has much furniture, so Gulliver carries Zecora to her bedroom and squats down beside the bed, allowing Zecora to carefully slide herself off and onto something comfortable. More comfortable than the floor, at least.
"Your reasoning is sound, for there are dangers abound." the zebra answers, flinching slightly as she lays on her side.
"Zecora, do you have a first aid kit?" Gulliver asks.
"All of my remedies are homemade." Zecora answers. "In the main room is where they are laid. Look on the shelf to the left of my pot for all of the home remedies that I've got."
Gulliver turns to Feather Dust. "She's not too banged up," he says softly, "but I gotta help patch her up before she gets an infection or something. What are you going to do?"

Left to her own devices, Feather quickly falls back into her old habits.
>"We better get to work fixing the prop up. Let's go, Boatswain."
There is no response.
>"...Coco?"
The tiny mare turns to see her crewmate asleep at the aft end of the gondola, underneath the motor. The ant's jaws slowly open and close, almost as if she's snoring. Feather Dust can't help but smile.
>"Okay, I'll handle this one myself..."
She climbs out of the top hatch and inspects the Ednosptrad Mk. II for damage. The envelope doesn't look like it's taken any damage, and the largely-metallic hull easily endured the firecrackers' attacks. The propeller seems to be the only area to have taken significant damage.
>'This shouldn't take long to fix... But I don't have any spare supplies except for my tools. How can I fix a propeller without spare parts?'
>>
>>27513809
I guess we'd need a way to bend the propeller back into shape?
>>
>>27513809
Find new parts. Worst case scenario we can cut up one of our sails for new propellor blades and only have left turns, but I think we can find something better. Pull of the shredded foam blades to start with. Heat the metal framework up to soften it and bend it back into a plus shape like it should be. Then look around for anything mostly flat with a slight curve, a stiff leaf would do. Maybe there's some on the ground or near the door?
>>
>>27513809
we may be able to bend the blades back, but the one that is barely hanging on should be removed and the one opposite should also be taken off to balance it.

Feather Dust squints down at the propeller.
One of the blades is slightly bent, two are sharply bent in the opposite direction, and the last one is hanging by a thread.
>'I think I can save three of them, but the last one has to come off and be replaced.'
Feather Dust descends the hatch and grabs some floss to make another rappel with.
>'Running low on cordage... I better get some more tomorrow.'
Tying one end around her midsection and the other around one of the ballast crystals in the gondola, Feather takes a deep breath and hops down to the propeller. To a mare of her size and strength, the soft foam is like thick rubber and stubbornly refuses to bend back into shape without a lot of forcing. It takes several minutes to get two of the blades back into place. The crooked engine assembly, however, is immovable by Feather Dust on her own. By the time Feather is done with the third blade, she's too exhausted to even climb back up.
>'I didn't think this through, did I...?'

Feather Dust has no way to heat the metal. Luckily, the fact that it's made of aluminum foil makes it pliable enough for Feather Dust to move by hoof.
>'The engine assembly is still bent, but bending the shaft the other way should compensate for that.'
As tired as she is, Feather wedges her hind legs between the base of the can hull and the offending propeller. Slowly, and with no small amount of effort, she forces the two apart as much as she can, before her sapped muscles finally give up the ghost and she slips off the ship. She falls so slowly that her tired mind barely registers the drop until she feels her floss harness tighten around her stomach. She grunts and swings softly back and forth.

Unable to pull herself up and too scared to risk letting herself fall such a great distance, Feather Dust turns to her last resort.
>"GUUUUULLYYYYY...!!"
The conversation in the next room goes quiet, and is quickly replaced by Gulliver's clomping hooves. "Dusty?!" he calls nervously as he dashes out of the room, looking around desperately for his charge. "What's wrong?!"
>"Get me dow-how-howwwn...!!"
The unicorn looks up and sees the airship drifting towards the ceiling with Feather Dust acting as its anchor. "Hold on!" he calls, his horn glowing. Immediately, Feather Dust feels the warmth of his magic envelop her, as well as the Ednosptrad Mk. II. With the level of care he'd apply to a newborn foal, Gulliver gently pulls his whimpering roommate back down to Earth.

Gulliver and Zecora exchange a few muffled words, and Gulliver quickly ducks back out. "Alright, she said she's good." he tells Feather Dust. "What do you need?"
>"A stiff leaf, or some bark might work for propeller blades."
Gulliver gives her a look over his glasses. "Seriously?" he scoffs, gesturing to the Ednosptrad Mk. II with his hoof. "All the precision work you did on this thing, and you want to stick some dirty twigs and leaves on it?"
>>

Gulliver looks back at the bedroom thoughtfully. "I'd rather not disturb her." he answers. "She needs rest."
>"But, then who am I going to get a replacement propeller blade from?"
Gulliver gives Feather Dust a look of mild disbelief. "...Me?" he blatantly suggests.
>"Gulliver, you don't have anything that would be structurally acceptable as a propeller blade. I need something lightweight, durable, and easily shaped. What do you have that fits those parameters?"
Gulliver looks down at Feather Dust with a bored expression for a few seconds, before he holds up the most blatant item in his inventory: his box.

>>
>>27528992
Take measurements. Try to cut off the most unnecessary parts of his box.
>>
>>27528992

>>27529058
We can snip off a bit from the box flaps. Try to get it to the same size/weight so we don't unbalance the prop, unless were replacing all of the blades.
>>
>>27529110
We would be better off replacing all of them for balance's sake. With our new battery and motor we can afford to have heavier propellor blades. Because the cardboard itself doesn't bend easily, I say we introduce a slight twist into each of the propellor spokes that the cardboard will be mounted on, the way a ceiling fan works.

We shouldn't need that much. Maybe a quarter of one flap?
>>
>>27529149
Use a bit more and we can make them a bit bigger than before to increase thrust. We were already a bit front heavy thanks to the potentiometer, so this will help us balance too.

>"Yeah, those should be fine. Can you use your magic to take off the foam blades for me? I need to go get some glue."
"Yeah, okay." Gulliver replies with a yawn. "I can do that..."
Feather Dust climbs into the bay door and carefully peels the layer of dried glue off her reserve supply.
>"I hope this is enough..."
Using her tail as a makeshift brush to soak up some glue, Feather Dust applies a small amount of glue to each cardboard propeller blade while Gulliver's magic melts through the set glue on the old blades.
>"Gully, you know how fan blades are a little crooked?"
"Yeah, why?"
>"I want to do the same thing with these new blades so they work better. Can you do that for me? They're too big and stiff for me."
"No problem."
In short order, the blades are twisted slightly and stuck to the aluminum base. But they're a bit too big: One of them reaches the floor and lifts the aft end of the Ednosptrad Mk. II a few millimeters into the air.

It looks like it's perfect in the picture. Maybe we can just take the farthest corner off? We only need a millimeter or two if the picture is accurate.

>"Darn, they're too long."
"Are you sure?" Gulliver asks, tilting his head. "They look okay to me."
>"They're lifting the ship right off the ground! We need to round them off. Or at least cut off the long corner."
Gulliver sighs and unfolds the pair of scissors on his pocketknife. "One sec..."
A few snips later, and the propeller can freely spin once again.
"Well...?" Gulliver asks expectantly.

Give it a test spin.

Thank Gulliver.

That's perfect. Greater area at the back means more thrust, greater weight at the back means more balance, and greater material stiffness means more durability.

Between the battery upgrade, the steering upgrade, the reverse gear, the better ballast, the two spells, and now the better propellor, I think we have upgraded pretty much every part of this ship.

I propose that this is now the Ednosptrad mark THREE.

Seconded.

>"Give it a spin for me."
Gulliver rolls his eyes and uses his magic to send the propeller into a spin. The Ednosptrad wobbles a little, but other than that, everything checks out: The propeller spins freely, just barely avoiding the floor.
>"Perfect! You know, with all these upgrades - the battery, the steering system, the reverse gear, the ballast crystals, the enchantments, and now the propeller - I think it's about time I upgrade this baby's name, too. All hail the Ednosptrad Mark THREE!"
"Woohoo." Gulliver cheers flatly, yawning again.
Feather Dust looks up at him with mild annoyance, but she still gives him a grateful smile.
Thanks again, Gully."
"Yeah, yeah..." Gulliver mumbles, half-smiling at his tiny charge. "So when are you going to do something nice for me, like I've been doing for you and your ship?"

Oh. You have no IDEA, Gulliver. Just wait until I'm big.

Name it Gully-Wully.
