Ponies are herbivores. There are several instances in the show where they ate vegetarian versions of meat foods, i.e. hayburgers and carrot dogs, vs one instance of an ambiguous pink slice of something on a sandwich.
That being said, herbivorous doesn't mean that they burst into flames when meat touches their tongue.
