The feedback is appreciated, just as suggestions on what settings you'd like to hear.

It came as an idea of making ASMR with MLP voices, and design it like something very calm, that would help people who're getting trouble with falling asleep.

Whats the hardest tempo to work with in general in your opinion?
What s your favourite instrument to use?
And what was the most annoying thing ya had to deal with during the making? Besides the bunny sound i guess
>>
>>27343272
No, did you listened to what Fluttershy said? You're supposed to be falling asleep. She even sung you a lullaby at some point. There's something like 25 minutes of dialogue, the rest is amibent noises to help you fall asleep.

>>27343276
I've never did something too fast or too slow, i think.. Well, i did ambient, but i don't remember the exact tempo. Dunno. I don't really give a damn about numbers, it either sound right or not.

Like, VSTi? lemme think. SSD4, Omnisphere 2, ACE, Reaktor Prism. I'm hoping to learn Zebra soon.

The beginning of this, everything up to the start of the real dialogue. I had to record a lot of things, and i had to re-record a lot of things sometimes. And mixing them was hard, i re-did it from the start like 10 times or so. It just didn't sound natural. And i hadn't right door sound up until very end and i couldn't find it on the internet. I managed to mix two of the sounds i recorded into something not-so-horrible but i'm still not quite proud of it.

Yeah it has, Anoridan, Priest, and Flutterchan put a lot of time in this. Anoridan did all the SFX and mixing himself - he literally worked on this for a year and Flutterchan must have recorded the lines at least two dozen times each to make sure everything was perfect.

Great work.

This is such a fertile ground for all sorts of ideas, for instance:

>Rainbow dash and you sitting on a cloud with ambient breeze, bird tweeting and wind noises
>Twilight's lab assistant with chemical reaction/alchemy sounds. She performs some kind of experiment on you, hypnosis, transformation, something like that
>Rarity fitting you for a suit with cloth ruffling sounds, scissors, etc
>Pinkie pie setting up a surprise party with squeaky balloon rubbing sounds, inflation and gift wrapping noises
>Applejack dressing you for a rodeo the two of you somehow got roped into doing together. Creaking leather sounds, belt buckle fastening, applejack breathing sounds etc.
>Aloe and Lotus give you the works at the spa. Massage sounds, hoof clop noises, shampoo/hair rinsing, etc.

>>27346251
The Flutters voice is close to the original, the sounds are well used and the whole project is overall a good effort, but I was expecting it to be more softspoken. For the most part it felt like of a regular Fluttershy conversation than ASMR to me.

Just my two cents, obviously. I still enjoyed it, and judging from the other comments I'm probably the only one who had the aforementioned issue.

I would love to critique you but honestly you did an amazing job. I have heard a lot of people try to do a fluttershy voice but you are the best by far. It fooled me the first time I listened to it.

Excellent work. Keep it up. I hope to see more of this in the future. Literally 10/10.
>>
>>27346372
Yeah I think I know what you're saying. I think it boils down a clash between speaking clearly vs. maintaining flutters softspoken-ness.
>>
>>27346251
+1 for more Fluttershy episodes
>>
>>27346251

My only real critique is to just encourage you to do more. There are many different themes you could do with Fluttershy alone, not even counting other ponies. I will say I love whispering in ears and mastering a good Fluttershy whispering voice would be great. A confident caretaking Fluttershy doing ASMR on you for therapeutic purposes and experimenting with different objects, sounds and triggers would make for a good video.

Uhh i meant instruments instruments, not programs. I did mean to ask about the programs but seems like i didnt actually write..oops
Well from the tempo question i guess actual intruments may not be your especiality soo forget that one, thou its interesting to see other people's way of doing music, background noise is still music imho and from a guy who loves to pay attention to that in games and stuff this one in the video is pretty darn nice
Only thing i d ask for is having more variations in the rain, strenght it, then make it quieter then louder again, not all the time ofc since itd be a LOT more work but now and again putting that in would be nice, also i mean the actual rain, not counting the lightning
Still i m barely at 20 minutes here but want to write before i fall asleep, all in all its pretty darn based, well done yall
>>
>>27350947
Ofc i use real instruments a lot, that's one thing. I just don't play myself decently enough to record it. I record other people, my bandmates, clients, etc, etc.

And there is variations in volume in the rain track, you'll hear it later.

It all depends. As much I could love Twilight reading a story, it might be too taxing on the VA since the appeal is more the quality of Twilight's voice.

Perhaps something more simple at first, such as a scene in the library. Perhaps Twilight rearranging books, then it moves on to something else.

Just an idea.

So apparently I left a repeat option on in >VLC. As a result I ended up waking up to a loud knocking noises. Twice, because there is a "repeat track" after "repeat playlist", which I forgot about at 4 am apparently.
>mfw

A few complaints I have found - clopping sounds very arrhythmic. Not only is it a tad too fast, but I just can't see it syncing to any hoofsteps. The lullaby, well, disappointed me. I am heavily autistic when it comes to things like that, but repeating "Luna" three times in such a short piece kinda triggered me. I also feel like it was not syllabically balanced, although I did not exactly write it down. I know it's a weird thing to be picky about, but hey. I also felt like there weren't enough Flutterbutter noises in the "ambiance" part. I think you could hear her 3 times over what would be 45 minutes. I don't want to hear it all the time, but a tiny bit more frequent would be nice. Also, and this is 100% subjective, please don't use/tone down the clock in the future. For some reason I detest that sound, though I understand if it is helpful to many others.

I'm not sure if I recall correctly this one, but didn't you seek someone to do writing a couple months back? If so, did you resolve it?

Fuck. You've got a point. I should have thought about it. Sorry. Noted and won't happen next time.

>>27352910
Man, this is exactly how i did these one. It's just it's really hard to clop them in a right way, right sound happens almost accidentally. These hoofsteps you hear is a result of at least 4 hours recording session and a few from hundreds, if no thousands, clops. I've tried a lot of materials to clop on, and the wall in my friends house provides best results. Yes, i am aware of double meaning of this word.
>>27353047
This VA won't do it for free, but it is still an option, we do have some money to spend on that it seems.

Went ahead and tried this out last night, have to admit best night of sleep I've ever had. Seriously I still feel like sleeping right now.

Also for those wanting more dialouge options, there's something about 3/4ths of the way through that will make you smile if you're patient enough and haven't drifted off to sleep.

The lullaby was rather sweet I think, would have been cool if there were more, but what was there was nice.

Sound effects were pretty damn accurate as well, hell could even imagine that damn rabbit there at times.

At the very beginning, somewhere around 0:0:30 you can hear Fluttershy very strongly in the right speaker. The left side is completely drown out by it, even though there is a little bit of it there. I know that it was supposed to indicate direction, but it almost feels like too strong of an offset. I think. I'm not sure.

mhmm, no. It was because FS had to step to the side because she needed to let listener in.

And it was experiment on how well i could pull off pseudo-binaural panning. Sadly, it messes with voice too much so i had to mix it with original mono signal and it makes artifacts when i automate it.

To put it differently: conceptually, i imagined myself and how would real pone move in this situation. So sometimes it can be not so obvious to you, because your imagination is different. But i've tried to keep logic as clear and as simple as i can.

No, i get what you're guys talking about. It's just a first piece. We need to find our way of doing it more ASMR-like, and at the same time we don't really want to make it all about these weird tsk-tsk things and strange noises, we want it to have strong script with words and all that, to have this insertive impact on the listener, we want it to feel like you're as close to being in Equestria as one ever can be.

Though I imagine you don't want to walk around on all fours on hardwood.
>>
>>27346251
You guys did an amazing job first and foremost, it was quite excellent and I really am looking forward to whatever else you guys decide to do.

For feedback, Flutterchan was on point sounding like Flutters, but through most of the video, you guys have it where Fluttershy is speaking more straight forward like in a conversation instead of that softer soothing tone most people think of for ASMR.

And although her being startled by thunder was cute, it startled me as well. I was starting to doze off, when she yelped and made me jump a little.

However, I do want to give extra props to everyone on the lullaby section, because I thought that was perfect. It was my favorite part by far and it was worth the wait just for that. So again, Thank you all.
>>
>>27359118
Thank you, we're really glad so many people are enjoying this.

We tried to adjust the vocal direction of the dialogue, but it's tough to replicate a binaural microphone.

Finally, this is great.

>>27351064
True, though the term is so washed out that it's kind of pointless to argue about terminology at this point. Plus people who experience it do so in relation to rather different sounds. Some people find more talky stuff, like Phoenician Sailor, more tingly than pure scratching, which is many seem to enjoy.
At this point, I honestly just think it doesn't matter what you call it, as long as people use the term to find something they like.

>>27357934
Don't feel pressured to push it in any particular direction. If you want to do more writing and script based stuff, that's great. Some in the ASMR community do that as their main approach, and it works out very well. I honestly consider it a underrated sub-genre.

Not saying she has to sing one, but something in the script that shows she cares about your exhaustion levels from these tests and whatnot.

I haven't listened to anything like that before, really nice, good work.

Obviously my feedback is imo, i still really enjoyed it, nothing below really broke it for me.

>>27353173
Id say that the clops sounded a bit hollow, it sounded like Fluttershy weighed nothing, im not sure how i would fix it, maybe muffle and deepen them a bit, idk.

id like her dream to be a bit less logical, i think it would sound more realistic if there was some random dream logic in there, my dreams never make perfect sense. maybe the fish bucket leads to the ocean or the rollercoasters loop around forever or something.

also when she leaves with angel i think some muffled clops from somewhere else in the house would be good, trying to step quietly.

the lullaby was great

I cant remember exactly what she says, but i think >i`ll be right here, im not going anywere ect. sounded a bit forced, imho i would more imagine her making feeble excuses to stay, or being much more shy about saying she would be there.

its been mentioned before, but more Fs noises in the ambient sections would be good, i always expected to hear her moving around in her chair every so often but i dont think it ever happened, mabe having a breathing track and quieting down the rain at some point would be nice.

also >i want to dance with you at the party HNNNNNNGGG MUH HEART

great job guys, pls make more
>>
>>27365346

Hoofsteps are hollow because coconuts are hollow. I've tried to muffle them with cloth, it didn't work right.

The only right decision is to make these coconuts two times more massive, and simple weight doesn't cut it, i'll try to get my hands on real hooves somehow.

what i think would be cool, put all these sounds in a game engine (or something) with positional audio. vaguely animate the characters (as in move the audio sources around) to where they would be, you could add individual birds flying around and making noises all over the place. might be able to create some sort of rig for fs that clops as it moves. I wouldnt know how to do this though, but im sure it would be possible. might be a pain to mix the audio though i guess

is there a way to simulate a binaural mic? would it be cheaper than buying one?
>>
>>27365819
I'm exploring that field. I heard that waves did something in this field. Gonna google what they made later today, thanks for reminder. I used Altiverb 7, but as i already said, if i use it to full capacity, it distorts voice too much, it sounds binaural, but pretty low-fi.

Actually, i have more money now than i had a year back. I may consider just buying that 3dio mic. It's cheaper than VMS, even. I and will buy VMS.

Finally listened to the whole thing this morning when I was trying to sleep in but just couldn't fall back asleep. The only thing I didn't like was Fluttershy's shriek when the thunder hits, it comes a bit suddenly and seems like a bit of a disturbance for an ASMR.

I'll tell you this now. What you need to do is find one hypnotist (or two) and practice with that ONE hypnotist. Also don't stress or worry about it working, it's like anal, it will take time and training. Also if you want hypnosis to do it's job, you NEED to listen to the hypnotists induction audio. Here is how I do it.
1. Make sure ceiling fan is on.
2. Roll bed covers down to my waist.
3. Move around and squirm until comfortable.
4. Closes eyes (In my experience hypnosis works better with my eyes closed, instead of staring at a screen).
5. Let my mind go completely blank as I fixate on the hypnotists voice. Their words are my world.
Hypnosis can be fun, and submitting to another persons voice can be very hot. I hope this helps you.
>>
>>27375098
Really a big part of hypnosis is just making sure you are as comfortable as possible.

Also there's hypnosis of theirs that can install mindless commands. So that can help. I say install because with hypnosis you should really treat your brain like a computer. And as a warning, be care full what you install, there's alot of weird stuff out there.

The thought of her taking your measurements was thrown around a bit. That's kind of basic, though. You could go for something less obvious. Like a scenario where the listener helps her clean up after a fashion show, or set up a new display in her boutique and she invites him for a hot cocoa/tea afterwards.

I have Sennheiser HD558.

Super comfy. I can seat in them for more than 10 hours straight and i won't feel any discomfort once.

This is open headphones, which brings more natural feel when it comes to sound of something, but especially low part of the spectrum, bass, in other words.

These two features combined, when they were new and not that dusty, there were only small difference between having them on and off.

And, when it comes to our pieces, having them means hearing almost exactly what i hear when i finish this mix.

I sure think it sounds like advertisment, but, fuck, i love my headphones.

I'd not recommend sleeping on the side with having them on, they are more durable than they appear but i still think head weight might shorten their life length.

Actually, that's what always confused me a little in Rarity scenario. I get all the main part, her taking measures, being in your personal space very close to you, but after that, what, listener should just sit near her on the couc and fall asleep out of boredom? Sewing is a long process, y'know.

Anyway, our writers already have an idea of how to make that scenario work, but i won't tell you what it is. I'm sure y'all love it though.

They're working on getting VAs for the others, some ponies are harder to find than others. Not to mention difficulties with scheduling and so on. It'll probably be a little while before the next vid comes up, Fluttershy or not.

Then again, I'm not part of the dev team, so I wouldn't know about vid schedules.

Back. I don't know what time it was when I went to bed. I work graveyards and didn't bother looking at the time when I went to bed. I plugged earbuds in and listened to it again. So, fourth time, I guess?

The first time I heard it, I jumped when the first roll of thunder where Fluttershy yelped, which was...interesting ^_^ . It merely fades into the background, now. I still chuckle a bit at the squirrels--with-brooms bit.

I have real problems shutting down and reaching that level of sleep where you really recharge and I always have, even with meds. ASMR is one of the few things that I've found that Works. So...thank you agian.
>>
>>27377800

Also, the roomies get English scones when they come in tomorrow morning with clotted cream and assorted jams tomorrow morning.

So yeah, it helped like nobody's business. :)
>>
>>27377916

Maybe it could go something like this:

She notices how tired "you" are, since you've been working hard helping her lately, and she sees the signs that "you've" had trouble sleeping. She's very observant, after all. She tells you about what her mother did when she had trouble falling asleep--she would very gently play with Rarity's hair and stroke her ears and hair while whispering, or singing or humming very softly. And Rarity does it with Sweetie Belle, and it works. So she tries it with "you" and it works.

After a while, she gently leaves you sleeping there on the couch, and goes about her business messing with cloth and paper in her workshop, occasionally whispering softly to herself (she has a habit of talking to herself when no one's around, you see).

>>
>>27377580

I'm with you. I enjoy ASMR for relaxation and helping me get sleepy. I enjoy the guided visualization and such for the scenarios that play out.
>>
>>27377916

I don't know if it has to be really long, it might be able to ease production I guess if it's only like a 20-30 minute scenario instead of over an hour.

Or, you could be trying on different stuff as well.

Like she gets your measurements, talks to you about your body shape and what would work/not work for your body type, and then you try on a few things with her commenting and such until you find that perfect dress/suit.
>>
>>27384763
There's almost no difference in terms of complexity of production between 30 and 1h 30m, at least when we're speaking about scenarios like that one with Fluttershy. Ambient noises are just loops of 2-10 minutes of different noises. I just copypaste them, because it's hard to make a clean recording of 1h 30m of rain. Something not wanted will happen at some point. Someone will open the door and start talking, dog start barking, etc, etc. And noone will notice that's a loop, anyway, it's too long for that and listener supposed to be falling asleep.

And yes, we're planning to do such things.
>>
>>27384865
Interesting, and I'm not going to argue with getting more bang for the buck.
>>
>>27342574
Thank you and the team so much for everything you all did on this project to bring it to life! Is there a way anons could donate some dosh to future projects?
>>
>>27385004
It seems that we'd need it, to pay to our VA's and to buy gear. There would be a patreon. After second scenario i think.
>>
>>27385004

It's being discussed among the team about setting up a Pateron account with donations based on per creation instead of per month.

That way nothing is collected until we release a scenario and we don't feel rushed to release on hard schedule.

Honestly, it's the only way we'll be able to up the production quality and afford a good binaural microphone and some of VAs we'd like to collaborate with.

We haven't worked out the specifics, but the current thought is the microphone would go to Flutterchan.

With all that being said, we want to make it clear than anything raised will go directly to the project and not to fatten our wallets or pay our rent. I'd personally rather go in the red than make any money off of this.

Additionally, nothing would be hidden behind any kind of BS paywall.

Thoughts on this?

I might actually make a patreon for this. It would be easier to just buy it but saying I'll buy it later doesn't guarantee I'll pay which puts you in a bad spot.
>>
Wow, this board has not changed at all. Except back in my day we purged most of the flutterfags.

i agree, i think unless it was written really well it would be too much

Idea though, make one where you are lying on the grass watching the stars with fluttershy, you could do the crickets and leaves rustling the breeze ambiance, get flutters speaking pretty close talking about semi deep stuff, like the things you would only talk about with people you really trust.
in my head it sounds amazing, get a random forest creature to run by at one point she could be excited about, fireflies flying around (mabe too visual idk), she could get a bit closer throughout however long it is, i can imagine some potential, could work as part of a series too if thats what you have planned

are you guys looking for anymore people to handle custom audio effects?
>>
>>27390218
That'd be really appreciated. We haven't worked out the logistics yet on whether the Pateron will be to fund our 3rd scenario while we work on the 2nd, or if we can front the bill for the second until we release it and collect the donations.

Yeah, we are. Anoridan has all the mixing covered, but we can always use Anons who can record some additional effects.

>>27390340
That's a great idea - I love the scene you painted there.

>sit down to chat for a bit
>she notices how tired you are
>offers to let you sleep there for a while, she'll be busy sewing anyway, and that she'll wake you up when she's done
>fall asleep to sound of rarity working
Easy.

I sent you guys an email.
I have a lot of experience in recording sound, mixing, and especially composing. really good at peaceful/mellow stuff, and also pretty good with spoopy stuff.

Go outside, Anon.

It'd be great to have another engineer on board. Some things just can't be recorded at my place.

Sounds good to me if it means we get not one, but two Flutterchan ASMR videos, especially since I know you guys will naturally be improving your craft as you go, so they'll only get better.

I'd be down to donate some cash to this.

Binaural doesn't relax me and irritates my ears. Do it binaural if you must, but have a non-binaural version as well.

That's a hard thing to do, to have two versions. I can only say that not every our scenario would be 100% for sure. It's hard to say at this point what ratio of binaural sounds to usual stereo would be but it won't be completely binaural, that's for sure.

Also, question. I've never saw anyone asking for EQG cahracters, but i can see how, let's say, Adagio scenario would have some support. Anyway, what y'all think about EqG scenarios?

I can't imagine anything relaxing from coming Adagio, or either of the other two for that matter.

I would love something from Sunset Shimmer, maybe Sonata too.

I want an hour of Rainbow Dash talking about herself as her raspy, cracking voice has its way with my ears.

Scruffy confirmed EQG for fanfic, pack up

I know this VA doesn't want to do lewd, but a good Trixie VA doing a ass worship ASMR would be great, also Crazy not quite Murderous Pinkamena playing with you tied up would be something too.
>>
>>27395476
Let me correct you. It's not about VA, it's about team behind all this. We do not want to make NSFW.

Sorry to dissapoint.

We were planning to go borderline romantic, as i said. Relationship would develop but naive listener should be able to interpret them as strong friendship.

Maybe we'll do something like you're asking, as additional, special version of ending of one of the scenarios or something.

>>27388633
That's one of the reasons we do this. I know how it feels, not to have friends.

maybe a Patreon reward?

We don't really feel ok with blocking some major content behind the paywall... Maybe if we'd do some kind of Halloween or April Fools scenarios or something, since they aren't helping anyone and these concepts are purely entertainmental.
>>
>>27342574
I would personally like to hear more positive affirmations, encouragement and reassurance. Something like "I'll be always here for you", "you don't have to worry about anything". That makes me feel like I can forget about all the problems in the world and just relax. For reference, I quite like this one: http://vocaroo.com/i/s1P5B8jy6OUC

not a paywall. but maybe if someone chips at a certain level the VA records a line or two addressing that them by name
>>
>>27396147
That's the brightest idea i've ever heard. For some amount of money, VA would record all lines in which we decide to address the listener by name with that addition and i'll make a few different versions. It's really simple and VERY effective.
You're genius.

That creates a 'all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others' division between our listeners that I'm not entirely comfortable with.
>>
>>27396168
Your right though, it is a good idea, not entirely opposed, just have reservations

Be realistic. We just can't possibly make versions with all names there is out there, but we can make it a lot more personal if we do this.

It's not about making them stand out because they pay us, mostly. It's about people who ask us to make it especially for them show us some support in return.
