I've done this with no funding. It was a pretty shit time though seeing as it was my second con ever and went with one hell of a wet blanket who stayed in the hotel room playing his DS for 2/3rds of the weekend. My second time I went to an mlp specific con was a year back and man was it a different experience. All my friends fuck with me over the fact that I like mlp so I ended up looking for people to share a room with. Some awkward guy messaged me on Facebook saying him and his buddies had room. First night, I meet up with him. Quiet wall-flower type who squeaked out his answers. He took me to the room and I realized these Fulkerson were trying to cram as many people into a room for sleeping as possible. It was the only real option so I paid up. We went out to eat and it turned out 3 of the 6 others in the room were reasonable human beings. Second day, me and guy are chatting and meet up with some of his friends, most of which were alright to decent looking women. Having fun and chatting it up, we went to a local bar. That's when things started to go downhill. I still cling to a bit of my beta tendencies and so when the dude I was staying with wanted to ditch the women we were having fun with to go put on his full foxyturned out to be one of those 5 nights guys with a fully working suitsuit, I reluctantly agreed. Turned shit for a while until he took it off and we went to the hotel bar. Probably the funniest thing to come out of the weekend was the wallflower who got me in the room drinking two drinks and not understanding his low tolerance. A panel we went to late night had a kerioki and drink mixing panel where they gave out free samples between songs. Lightweight wallflour ended up going to get a drink every time and being denied which would insue into a 3 minute argument between the panelrunner and him. Why he didn't get tossed out of the panel is beyond me but it was pretty funny to watch him stumble up every song and try to get more.
