Glimmer in the last episode was nothing like she was in the premiere. What has changed and how and where?
In the premiere she was nervous, timid and doing her best to fit in whilst also not getting on the wrong side of anybody. She was nothing like that in this episode.
Not only was she now joking about enslaving Ponies, despite the fact that she hated her past. But she was forcefully using magic and changed her friends brother using a spell. It wasn't accidental or just a mistake, because she didn't even change it back immediately despite AJ's disapproval.

While that actually makes a lot of sense, even in the premiere, she wasn't like what she was here with any of the Ponies. Certainly didn't seem comfortable enough to openly joke about her troubled past. If this was our first exposure to Starlight since S5, I wouldn't really question it, but it's just her difference from being nice, shy and timid in the premiere to sarcastic, banterous and confrontational here.

She was nervous in the premiere because she was meeting an old friend who didn't know what she'd done. Talking to relatively new acquaintances who already know her history isn't the same thing. As for her magic, knowing that she caused trouble once doesn't erase all the flaws that made her do it. No doubt she still has some trouble knowing where to draw the line on which uses of magic are okay and which aren't.

I miss pre-redeemed Starlight Glimmer. She was arguably one of my most favourite villains before the last minutes of the season 5 finale, but they had to ruin her by giving her a small Freudian excuse (or rather one that's pretty disproportionate to what she has done) and have her redeemed in a pretty rushed way.I also missed her old mane style and emotionally unstable antics.
Glimglam is adorable and she and Sunburst make a perfect couple.

I'm going to try this show discussion thing now:
I don't see Glim Glam as a sociopath, she wouldn't have cared that she was screwing up the world with her time travel shenanigans if she was. She would have just continued until she found one that worked for her, among other reasons.
I do however strongly agree that teaching kids that some friendships are toxic and should be broken off is a valuable lesson that this show is neglecting. They did it with Gilda but then undid it, I feel that sends the wrong message.
Finally, for OP, I like the changes in Glim Glam last episode, she's still got socialization issues and showing that strengthenes her charecter. I imagine the difference to be do to the passage of time, as more time has passed she has gotten more comfortable around others and less formal, letting more of her true self show through. Also her nerves did seem to be the result of meeting Sunburst. Not sure if it was intentional or just different writers.
