He even had a point where he had his OC smoking during the review to make him seem more "mature" as his style of review changed.

About the fucking show.

I think it was Tommy Oliver?

It's like when Tommy Oliver made a big ass video about leaving the fandom and then a few months later came crawling right back because he realized bronybucks were the only thing keeping him alive.

theres nothing wrong with criticism, you fags do it all the time talking about which season is shit or which season is not shit. the only reason you hate these fags is because people listened to them and not you, and the irony is the people who watched them didn't even really listen to them, to the point where tommy started putting in links to skip over his criticism and eventually rage quit the fandom.

Also, the only good reviewer this fandom ever had was Drowning in Horseshoes.
>>

> MrEnter is legitimately autistic
> That somehow justifies his over-active screaming into microphone and over-dramatic pauses.

I am autistic as well, but the thing is, that if you plan on presenting yourself on a video, you can calm yourself, you can do various takes and remain somehow mature.

High Functioning Autists do have problem with controlling their emotions, but when you are editing a video and writting a script for it, even an autist can stop himself if he isn't going little bit over the line.

Really, I'm glad the guy went back to what he did pre-pone as his ability to articulate information and attention to detail were wasted on a single show rather than a whole medium. I'm not saying the guy isn't pretentious, but he does do a good job in his anime videos. During his pone review time, he was a bit of a fuck wad and needed to tone it down, but once he switched over, it became pretty good. Jesse (drowninginhorseshoes) on the other hand, he doesn't have much going for him other than insulting the viewer and a few ok opinions. His more recent reviews have become shut had have nowhere near the cleverness or comedy that his horse videos had.

Same with IHE.

The difference is that YMS and IHE play up their emotions for comedy, Enter does not.

I did enjoy it when he talked about Spongebob or actually fucking terrible shows (Like Problem Solverz), but going on an autistic rampage over something like the Drawn Together Movie is just retarded.

It's not that hard to find some actual core problems with some episodes, though. The season 6 opener was really badly directed, for example. Watch the baby throughout and tell me how often it was a destructive force while the camera was on it, but sitting perfectly still, staring into the ether when attention was directed elsewhere. Or the Maud, Rarity, Pinkie episode, where practically every scene was modular and could have been removed without losing the overall story. In fact, the overall story where Pinkie trades away her canon was only a few minutes long - most of the episode was crap they could move or cut.

Then you get the latest dragon episode. While not bad, they missed plenty of directing opportunities to make the dragon king feel large and imposing. More shots of him looming over the others rather than profile back and forths.

Silver Quill, Digi Brony, and basically all the "analysts" don't actually talk about stuff, but there is easily plenty wrong with pony that could be critiqued if you actually knew about scene composition or anything technical. These guys just don't know any technical things about making media. They rarely even edit their own videos.
>>
>>27142332
That is exactly what I meant, that is my problem with these guys, of course the show has problems, but these guys point at the wrong things.
>>
>>27141753
>Read books on story telling
>Decide you know everything there is to know about making a show
So basically you style yourself as an independent "idea man" and all you can do is chew the fat about the writing. Which, while important, can be subject to a huge number of changes at the start of the project to the end of the project depending on the budget and how skilled the animation team is.

Understanding writing structure only gets you your basics. Like knowing how far into your script is probably too far to not have an exciting hook. Or knowing some of the story models like the Heroe's Cycle or whatever, which aren't good to follow too strictly for fifty episodes because they're formulaic.

Obviously not. You can run your mouth like a dumb bitch if you want. I'm just saying, reading a screen play book and dabbling in fanfics doesn't mean you understand the process behind making a cartoon.
>>
>>27142370
So you have to have experience in the field the material is in to be able to criticize it?

So unless I worked on animation I can't say that something like food fight is a piece of shit based on my own opinion?

I'm sorry but being able to tell my milk is rancid doesn't require years of training as a chief.

>analyzers
The only one worth a crap was Horseshoes, because he wasn't an overanalyzing autist like the rest, instead of analyzing it was more of a review, really. He shared his thoughts, gave you the standard rundown of the episode, pointed out some details and added some humor. Didn't really care much about the whole wrestling kayfabe thing but props to him for having the whole thing planned.
>>
>>27142417
You can say Food Fight is a piece of shit. You can express your emotional opinion, but so can your mother. Hell, even your dog has emotional opinions about things.

I'm just saying that unless you understand how that stuff is made, you're not going to have any real insight on what truly is broken about that film and how they could have corrected it. Nobody is ever going to learn from your emotional opinion in a useful way. Granted, Food Fight is low hanging fruit and could be improved with very little skill, but dumbasses like you are why we have films like "Manos: The Hands of Fate".

I don't know, anon. Based on your brilliant analysis skills, why don't you look at "Dragonshy" and demonstrate all the framing techniques they used to make the characters feel small, and then dig out the S6 dragon episode and show us why Equestria's largest dragon didn't feel that big at all.

Oh, wait, that would take a ton of work and you don't know anything about making cartoons anyway.

That's okay. Maybe you can make a video where you tell us what happened in the episode, story wise, and whether or not you liked it, but only from a writing perspective. Like all the other "analysts".

Ok anon, why don't you go dig up that burger from wattaburger, then compare it to the burger you got from mcdonalds. After comparing the rarity of the meat, and the seasonings used you can tell us how mcdonalds burgers are far to well done.
But that would imply you are capable of doing any sort of cooking beyond microwave meals, but I'm sure you can put out an "opinion" just like all those other lazy faggots that don't have a masters in culinary arts.

I'm so excited about learning the industry of film which translates into parts of animation as well, especially things like cinematography. In terms of directing? No. That's not my area. That has more to do with the high-level scene composition things, like how to frame your characters and what they ought to be doing.

For animation, "Animator's Survival Kit" is solid for introduction and will get you started. I have some textbooks on screen writing but I don't have strong feelings about them. Honestly some people think of entertainment as a portfolio-based career. There are many guidelines and rules and you need to know what they are, but the more complicated stuff is situational, and while the usual formulas are good starting points, you shouldn't live by them if the scene doesn't work with them.

That's roughly $100 per video and at least $300 a day. Some of these guys, no joke, are pulling six figures in Youtube revenue.

Want to know what REALLY upsetting?

Skilled, in-depth reviews are impossible on Youtube because Youtube's Content ID system hate-fucks nearly every copyright license there is to death. Making thousands of dollars in copyright theft works because those guys are intentionally taking steps to break the law and evade the system, but any professional that wanted to teach people would get their account deleted.

They wouldn't nuke it m8, their plan was to try and collect the cancer in one channel. If I can understand what their plan was.

No they weren't. They were going to start using the Content ID system to claim videos with the word "React" in them. It wasn't going to remove the videos, it was going to redirect the cash flow.
>>
>>27142653

I understand that everything won't be a 'by the book' kind of situation as that would cause things to become stale and there to be a lack of genuinely creative and innovative stuff out there, but I feel like if I had a good grasp on the foundations of things like that it would help me differentiate between what works and doesn't work when they cross those boundaries and will help me form better, more solid opinions on showshow with better ways to back up and explain my thoughts on the show other than "It was good" or "It was exciting because x scene". Not really interested in trying to get into the world of animation as much as understanding where directors, artists, composers, and other background people are attempting to get their ideas and thoughts across to the viewers.
>>
>>27142980
Youtube's recommendation system doesn't work that way.

If the fine bros were victorious its possible that shitty react videos would be more recommended. But the thing was its quite possible that the bros would use their trademark in very, very bad ways.

As much as I wish for react channels to fucking die and burn handing a hammer like that trademark to the autism bros could fuck things up more than it helps. Sure a few shitty plates are broken but some of the vases that actually looked good would probably get it too.

>>
>>27143038
i agree that youtube should let you choose for a cannel to never show up on your recommendations list ever again
they wont tho because they want videos with millions of views
>>
>>27143092
Essentially, youtube won't fix shit because of their almost complete monopoly on internet videos.

Why change if you're going to get customers anyway? The people that complain will always come back for more.

Fact of the matter is that their content ID system is such shit that people can use it to take down anything they want even if it is fair use through and through.

Understanding where the ideas are founded is important. Every part of the medium is focused on different things, and it breaks down further. For example, you've got the animation guys doing their keys and tweens, but then you've also got the people working on special effects like flame gouts and whatever. As a whole, that whole department gets very clever when it comes to making things that work with the whole product - unless you export it all to North Korea, in which case it becomes very cheap but also dead and stiff.

Then the writers are focused on creating the skeleton of the story, and they have to write with the knowledge that some of it may be cut, so they have their spine that can't be removed and will run under time, and then they add modular scenes which can be moved or removed. One place they want wrong with the Maud, Pinkie and Rarity episode is that it was way too modular and didn't have enough spine. It took them most of the episode to get to the real conflict of Pinkie losing her canon.

Your sound engineers are interesting. Some people think they create more life than the visuals I can see where that opinion comes from, and yet so few people notice them outside the catchy songs. Those guys add foley and all that jazz, and I think they can be super nerdy. I don't know sound engineering, personally, but one of my friends got into the career after wanting to go there for years. He was always taking electronics apart and fiddling with things.

Then the director is expected to have the broadest technical knowledge and a grasp of how he wants all of this to come together. With poor directing, you get that scene where Glimmer notices the weather because she can see Spike's breath, but it's also snowing. Somewhere in the process, somebody set some kind of stupid decision in motion and the director needed to intercept it, but they didn't so now that episode has characters acting like they don't see the same things the audience does.

>content id
yeah well that affects youtubers, not me.
The people i watch i check for new videos every day so im not going to miss anything and even if i do they just upload it to a second channel.
Im not some fags personal army, i have self respect. These family feuds should be resolved in house not by making everyone grab a torch, they could solve things faster by going on a massive strike or taking their buisness elsewere

The base of YouTube content creators is so large that organizing them would be insane. In addition for some this is their livelihood. And if you want to bring up just go somewhere else, where. Yeah there are actual websites that do video hosting but YouTube has the largest viewer base and leaving just to spite YouTube would be insane. You are effectively crippling yourself in an attempt to spite the company and getting a large amount of youtubers to leave at once, especially prominent ones would be nigh impossible.

Unless a moving of a large viewer base occurs YouTube is going to make money. The loss of Youtubers can be easily replaced and doesn't matter very much. YouTube still has daily shows and music videos which net them the majority of their profit and YouTube content creators are a drop in the bucket.

Thanks for the insight. I had a general idea of the production process, it's moreso that I would like to understand more why they choose to have certain shots the way they do, the symbolism jammed into various scenes that require a knowledge of prior to seeing it otherwise they fly right by when watching.
>>
>>27140306
I like his commentary and analysis, primarily because he's pretty meticulous when it comes to picking fictional works apart, and expressing exactly what components he likes and what he doesn't.
>>
>>27143348
well if you could gather 20 or 30 youtubers ranging from 200k suscribers to a million then you can start a better website.
There is also patreon, fucking jim sterling makes 8 thousand dollaridus each month and still has youtube covering his legal fees, my hate for him is almost limitless.
Plus new site means not having to pay youtube or mcas a cut, getting to negotiate a different contract with marketers and no restrictions. Sites like kotaku get a shit ton of advertising money, granted kotaku bloggers mostly live in shoe boxes and feed on anything they can find on a dumpster but it doesnt have to be this way
>>
>>27142814
Their worst offense is not even reviewing and reacting to the scenws in the episode.
For fuck's sake that talentless James Rolfe and Doug Walker at least put the effort of commenting on what they don't like about the things they watch and play.

Are you jealous of normal people's ability to judge things based on real emotion, you giant faggot autist?
I'm sorry that your date punched you and called the cops, but you weren't being charming and suave when you acted like an awkward monotonous faggot who asked every 2 minutes "are you feeling good? Can we have sex now. God I want you." And then flipped the table and threw a fissy fit when she said "you're acting retarded". Oh are you going to tell me I need to be a 60 year old psychologist to know who's extroverted and who's an introvert?

there was a writers strike on hollywood. Fucking writers, the worst and less paid proffession, the people who get fuck all credit and can be replaced instantly.
They managed to supremely fuck hollywood so bad they ruined ten years worth of projects.
I mean i dont think that a group of youtubers can defeat youtube but if they manage to support thewmselves with the combination of new site adds and patreon money then soon a lot of other youtubers will start posting their content both in youtube and this new site, sure its the same people watching videos both at youtube and this new site but in this new site you only compete with 30 people plus with a small sample you can do all sorth of quality control. You can get almost anything on youtube but here you get the best

Same. I'm always surprised seeing everyone hate Digi and Tommy so strongly. They both just started being more raw, people didn't care for it so they packed up. I still can't buy the 'overanalyzing' excuse tons of fans give when someone offers criticism for any kind of media, since that logic leads to poorer quality of that medium in the future. It's obvious they enjoyed, at least the early episodes of the show, since tons of their time has been spent discussing it. I never really saw them as assholes since they always backed up what they talked about, no matter how good or bad they found something. I have respect for that type of criticism but all others seem to see is 2 guys shitting on what they enjoy.

shit i like watching some of that stuff with ticket redemption games like the coin pushers, and other stuff
it's basically imagine your with friends and their playing that it's basically like watching other people gamble it's weird that people recording themselves playing redemption games has an audience

I hope your not throwing pinball under as a children's arcade game

no one wants to hear criticism unless its something that confirms their own bias's. see threads where we rate the seasons and how every season spin off etc is objectively awful trash no one should like. I mean, equestria girls is a terrible film, but people seem to hate it more for

than because it's writing is shit.
