No aspect of it was bad in my opinion....do I care about bg pones? No, I'm not an idiot. Literally the only one I care about was Derpy and she was done perfectly.
You can call the rest "memes", I don't care because that's all they ever were, memes. They were never intended to be popular but they became popular anyway, aka memes.
The only thing about the episode that was bad was not in the handling of characters, or uses of gags like Twilicane, it was that in general the episode was a mess...it was all over the fucking place. That being said that's also fine seeing as it was intended to be a special episode, not a typical episode.
Also, the best part was clearly Gummy.

The Octavia/Vinyl "duet" was the cringiest bit, and overplaying the Big Lewbowski visual reference that they really didn't need to dig back up in the first place pretty much killed the episode.

Every scene with derpy made me cringe. She stopped being funny after season 2 so why did they have to give her an actual speaking role in the episode.

it was an in-joke about how Hasbro took the fandom's names on multiple ponies (Octavia, Vinyl, Lyra, who was originally Heartstrings then rebranded Lyra Heartstrings) and then stuck to their own for some others (Bon Bon -> Sweetie Drops, Colgate -> Minuette, Carrot Top -> Golden Harvest, etc).
So it's more of a meta joke, where she leads a double life in fanon as Bon Bon and canon as Sweetie Drops.

Personally I found the 'Do Princesses dream of electric sheep' Episode much more egregious than Slice of Life. They had a good reason to act silly and make an episode that was totally nothing like the rest of the show full of pandaring with SoL. But then 2 episodes later they do even more shitty forced memes and sillyness because 'lel it's a dream' such as giant Derpy, fused Lyra and Bon Bon, bringing back Flutterbat, Twilight rebuilding the treehouse etc. It was just really annoying and felt like totally unjustified pandering. I get that they probably wanted to make the last episode before the mid-season hiatus memorable, but it's still pretty shit.
That said, I wish the gay ass Wubstep scene or the Lebowski scene was cut/shortened so they could insert that amazing scene where the Royal Guards begin mocking the bickering Princesses, or following up on the Amethyst scene a bit. Even just like a passing comment like 'wow Amethyst you did a great job' or whatever would've worked, it just feels kind weird that they set that plot point up and totally drop it when they resolve all their other jokes/scenes (Even the Lebowski scene had some closure).
