Dragon Quest was good. The only thing anons get hung up on is the resolution and subsequent moral.
SayS was shit because they made Spike inept to service the plot. But even that episode had a lot of nice things in it outside of the aforementioned incompetence.
Princess Spike was just bad because he got shit on without really doing anything wrong.
He has a pretty good batting average on par with most of the main 6.
And that's not even counting all his major supporting roles which he's always excelled at.

The whole relationship they all have with Spike kills that tone. Hell in the premiere they're shown to be the weird ones for not realizing to what extreme he deserves his hero status in the Crystal Empire. It was really weird because he isn't exaggerating how much he is beloved there but they don't care and think it's funny.
Showing that the Crystal Empire really did care later in the episode made the earlier joke odd. So do they not think he is a hero? Or do they think he exaggerates it? Both are false objectively to the people he saved. It just makes them look like a bunch of shitty ponies.
