Hasbro have been selling toys for over 90 years. They own Monopoly, Scrabble, Play-doh, Nerf and a ton of other stuff. If MLP went completely down the shitter (which it isn't, as far as they're concerned) all they would do is go "meh", give it a few years and relaunch - something they're experts at. They're canny enough to know if something is a success for one generation, if you relaunch for the next generation you get an added bonus of parent nostalgia to shift those units. I think it's safe to say that their investment into this generation has paid off - everything else is gravy at this point.
So if you really think Hasbro are 'in trouble' because they don't market their property the way some Brony wants them to, you're seriously off the mark.
