Been reading Murky finally. Does the "Everyone hates pegasi so much they'll stop what they're doing to attempt murder" thing calm down at some point? Because right now it's super hard for me to take seriously.

Yes. It's present in the early story because he's amongst some of worst kept groups of slaves who're looking for excuses. Once he finds friends it calms down almost entirely.

My headcanon on it is that Protege has less slaves doing it because he treats them better, so outside raiders they have less reason to look for easy targets to vent anger.

The specific event I was talking about wasn't just the march through hatred-ville, but a little while later Murky encounters a pony named Flippy Bit.

Flippy Bit is perfectly nice, infact, one of the nicest slaves we meet until he reveals Murky to be a pegasus and he suddenly goes murder happy with a knife.

Anyway, I've been farting around pones for too damn long, and the first hiatus got me to start reading fanfiction, including some of the ah... Infamously less than great ones, let's say. At one point I tried to start reading FoE, but the whole 'this is just Fallout with ponies glued over it' was really jarring and sucked me right out of the story from the start. My question is this; did any of you get that feeling as well, and if so does it subside? Is the story actually worth trying to get over that? Normally I'd assume this'd be the wrong place to ask that, but I figure the longer something goes on the more jaded people with honest opinions there'll be.

It's Equestria taking on that sort of apocalypse culture and making it its own.

You're not alone, anon. FoE suffers from a lot of direct rips from the Fallout games. Sometimes they're "cleverly" flipped upside down (the outcast rangers are the good guys, for example). It's hard to give a full idea as there's not much to go on as what is there is simply not very good.

If you want my "professional" opinion scrap what you have now except the clone idea and start writing things in the past tense (please god). Choose either first person, or third person.

From there I will offer you two courses of action to start the story. COA 1: Start off in the vault, but cut down on the crazy murder thing. If you want everyone to be Rainbow Dash I would say have the main character know they're all clones, but accepting of it as they go through their daily routine, but with shennanigans in the background. Use this time to give he main character and their enviorment life, set up a world, set the stakes. What your story was dreadfully missing was /context/ as there was none for what was going on, and the characters lacked any sort of emotional depth so it felt like robots acting infront of a black background. Eventually you can reveal that some of the clones are malfunctioning and attacking or whatever forcing 420 (this 420 joke is not funny, if that was your intent) out of the stable, but build up to it. Give the reader some reason to want them to succeed.

COA 2: Fuck the backstory shit. Start with Rainbow Dash 420 (it gets less funny the more I type it) already out in the wasteland doing whatever you want them to do, and instead reveal their backstory bit by bit. Either through flashbacks, or her slowly revealing it to who the fuck ever. Make it a mystery, this would create a more engaging story as the reader tries to piece together what happened.

That's my suggestions, take them or leave them but IMO what you have written down is basically unworkable as is.

So that Murky chapter.

Fukken beasties are on the loose, eh. Thought it was a good chapter, if a bit... well, after the last two, it was a LOT quieter. Not a bad thing, I just kinda thought we were on a "The Ride Isn't Ending" type of action curve. I things happened, but it wasn't anywhere like the combat from before. Got to see some of Coral being a badass, just... not quite badass enough. Bit dissapointing that the foals are kept away -again-, I kinda thought we were getting vibes that this chapter would be something of an arc-ending segment for Coral's storyline, when instead there was a bit of a switcheroo, instead having the arc conclusion for Weathervane.

I wasn't expecting it, but it went roughly how I imagined that reunion going. Really liked the part from which the chapter drew its name, thought that was... apt, to show the duty of medical staff, occasionally.

I had an idea that was basically the plot of Fury Road. Atom Smasher heads west into the desert, gets caught by some raiders and used as a standard because pretty birdie and her only shot at freedom is cooperating with this defector driving to the coast with a stolen rig because her wings are buggered and she needs a ride out. There's nothing especially intelligent about it, it's basically just an action story unless I do something fancy with the other characters.

bumping with an update

I've finished drawing hopefully one of a few maps in MSpaint because I can't into art for the life of me and now I am moving onto picking up where I left off on the last few posts.

As I said before, I felt that I screwed up Wild Flower's character and behavior and I completely choked on the lewd despite that being the original purpose of the whole venture. So the work I'm doing now is to both create a helpful recap that will inform the audience of unspoken information; and then repost the most recent posts from the CYOA in corrected form, before getting properly started.
