Welcome to 4chan. No matter what fandom, board, interest, hobby, or what have you, there will always be bait. Always. The problem is all of 4chan didn't know how to just ignore the bait. And they still don't. And they never will.
As for getting pissed when people ask why we're into it, those threads are made on an almost daily basis. I'm not doubting that their genuine, but when you spend 5 years having to answer the same tired question over and over again, it tends to make you rather cynical about it. Especially when the reasons you give are dismissed by the ones asking the question. Most people are sick and tired of it, and it's practically become a meme now. The same thing would happen if I went to /v/ and asked why they like Hideo Kojima so much every single day.
