How are they going to have animation that ties into Guardians of Harmony when it's basically just a slightly more action focused FiM? Will it be an alternate canon or what? Or will it just fit into FiM and be an extension of it?

the only thing I fear about this is that it'll split the fanbase AGAIN. Some will prefer the edgier, epic adventurer quests, and some others will stick to the SoL, comfy episodes.

If they do a Transformers sort of thing with it, then GoH and FiM are sort of separate. Most of the TF series shows are separate from one another (though they always have a few commonalities like having a Prime in them). Beast Wars touched on things that happened in other 'universes' but for the most part each series is separate and distinct. So if they follow that same mindset with Goh then we'll have FiM as one 'universe' and GoH as another 'universe' sort of thing.

I never thought about it this way.
The FiM theme is done. Twilight is a princess. The whole friendship thing is done.
The power-ups will mark the transition between Fim and GoH.
S7 will be MLP:GoH, a more action oriented chapter of the show.
S9 will be MLP: The Last Stand in which the ponies will have to strive to avoid the Wasteland timeline.
I personally wont mind if GoH winds up being S7, seems like the show is heading that way anyway

I'd like to point out that last time Hasbro did a movie of a show's sub-line toyline most of the toys in the line didn't actualy show up until after the movie.
So they could have GoH original characters we simply haven't seen yet, this doesn't mean they'll throw all of our characters into action or bring Chrysalis back for war or whatever.
