Well the whole bursting thing varies a bit. Some people enjoy it when comes to the feeling of too much pressure. and as for starting out, i'd say look at the artists you like a lot, take things from them to build your own style by trying to bring together all the aspects you like from those different styles.
Watch streams if you can, watching how some people draw can help if you pay attention
But most importantly, get your normal pones down before you go fat or inflated
Trust me it's more beneficial in the long run to do it that way, not saying don't practice inflation or fat stuff while working on normal stuff
But getting down the basics with normal sized pone as a starting point is a must

And I know people always say practice, and it's true
But more important then that is to just make sure when you're practicing you keep trying different things, do things differently
get outside your comfort zone, it'll help
