Not that exactly, but how come some things that receive frequent exposure on other places don't perform the same way here at all. Without going full niche, take for instance The Sopranos: a wave of mentions came after James Gandolfini died and Breaking Bad reached its peak, and it still is mentioned on several boards here, television review sites, heck even reddit if that's the case. It was all about paying just a bit of attention, but for some reason people here never caught on. Just check the threads where they share their taste in music, television and movies; they seemingly don't want to go beyond what's currently over-publicized. Goddammit, this is 4chan, I know people browse more than one board and are also aware of more things than what's shown on the covers of popular media outlets.Fun fact: there's a homage to Gandolfini in one of the MLP IDW comics.

Or more likely, the very focused nature of this board doesn't lead to discussion about anything outside MLP or its influence. As for going to other boards, I started visiting here exclusively before lurking on /tv/, /tg/, and /hr/. Maybe others others haven't started to lurk outside /mlp/, or they don't feel the need to mention it. I dont know, I can't speak for them.
