Coldcon NYC.
>>
The con staff made the VIP green room the coldest, dirtiest room in the convention. The don't even have security watching the doors to make sure no one bothers Lauren.
>>
I hope they have some MLP inspired gloves inside. The closest Walmart is an hour away.

Yep. The two are frigid from the walk over, they're just casually discussing writing/storyboarding and the merits of lessons muddled by jokes. Pretty interesting actually.

I've had a bunch of questions to ask Big Jim actually lol.

I actually would like to know his actual thoughts on that animatic "leak" from a week ago.

I wonder if he's annoyed by it or impressed by level of accuracy and effort done by someone to mimic DHX.

Ok. Idk if he'll react positively to ithe on the big stage, but if I run into him I'll ask.

>>
>>26456642
Not everyone, but quite a few, and the lowered amount of daily activity requires less manning which makes it easier for the ones that aren't to take a vacation day. Considering the competition is the preceding Friday, which isn't a holiday, it's really a no-brainer to shift the con to cover the one on Monday. There's also an extra benefit for people that can't take a day off to hit all three days of the con, in that having Saturday be opening ceremonies means people won't have to miss day one which is almost always the most energetic of a con.
>>
I would've uploaded some clips but YouTube needs wifi, which they're all locked here. I'll upload some when I get back to the hotel.

I think the con scene is going into zombie status. Way to many cons even now that the fandom has moved from mass fad to established level.

Here in Europe one of the two major cons is having its final edfition this year.

Faust apparently did not design any background ponies. She only made the base bodies. The pony placement is entirely based on file names. I didn't know this but berry punch being drunk is intentional. Faust in particular thought she was funny and named her "Pilot Noir"
>>
>>26461374
Execs were upset twist had glasses, so they forced Faust to put another pair of glasses in the show. Hence silver spoon.

Execs also had an issue with the original, "reversed" body types of snips and snails
>>
>>26461374
Whoops, *Pilot Noir
>>
The parasprites originally had compound fly eyes, which Faust thought were too creepy.

Anime Conventions
>>
>>26461461
It's not that, Kar is just a little... delusional when our comes to organizing this one.
>>
Kazumi was an hour late for autographs. Vincent and Peter both had to entertain a really annoyed crowd.
>>
What gives you this impression? I really think the lead organizers of this con could not be nicer people. They're very genuine and no one makes money off this.
>>
Told a staff guy at autographs I lost my autograph tickets and I got 4 free autograph vouchers.
>>
>>26461583
Well I hope they make money so they can pay off those home loans they took out to pay for the con.
>>
>>26461401
When I first read this I was hit by typical grrExecutiveMeddling rage, but on second pass it makes a lot of sense. Having the only glasses-wearing character also be the only one with an obvious disability is the kind of shit that gets shows in trouble these days. Just adding another character who happened to wear glasses is probably the least meddlesome thing they could've done.
>>
>>26461583
It's the impression I'm getting from working this con and what the show staff is telling me how they are treating them. No VIPs have anything nice to say about the con chairs.
>>
I was at the event for Saturday only. They couldn't have picked out a worst location. When the "mane hall" guests have to wear their jackets, you know they messed up. I wish they could hold this event at a time when it's not freezing fucking cold in February.

Lots of little kids there though.

>Lots of little kids there though.

The only positive thing in this con
>>
>>26461706
The venue really is the biggest issue. From the cold to the lighting to the food, it pretty much comes down to the venue. The staff at Grand Prospect Hall is also extremely unprofessional and somehow they can't bother to stock the papertowels in the bathroom so they just leave rolls to soak on the counter.
>>
>>26461793

I meant to say there's a lot of little kids there, maybe the fandom is actually changing demographics. Don't get me wrong, there were a lot of brony-types there, but having attended many of these types of cons in the past, more and more younger kids are coming. Still, there are too many fucking cons. If the same actor lineup was at the first ponycon 3 years ago, it would be completely sold out and packed.

This was the foulest smelling con I've ever encountered. In addition to the usual BO and unwashed ass, there was the rotten stench of spoiled Caesar salad dressing, and baby powder mixed with piss.

I'm almost glad there was so much cold air blowing in, the stench would have been lethal instead of just nauseating.

The biggest issue with the con was the venue. It wasn't dirty or anything, it was just really not fit for a loud, party-like environment of a brony convention. The padded walls of Bronycon and others make sure that the amplified audio isn't lost in the void of the entire venue. Having a hard-surfaced environment that's incredibly open like that made whatever was going on in the Grand hall the most important thing in the con. Sorta like BC12 but not.

You also have the lack of seating for guests. If I'm at Bronycon, or NYCC even, it's incredibly easy for me to find a place to pop a squat, chillax, and attempt to alleviate some "con leg". No such luck here.

The con book was also on the light side, not detailing much about the surrounding area for food, and the con staff other than one lad up front weren't much help.

The Vidya room which I can usually count on for these NYC Brony guys to have a decent setup for absolutely sucked. It was in a bar with hard chairs in a cold room, the opposite of comfy vidya times. Really pissed me off there.

Con Security was pretty lax, and I probably could've gotten away with hell in a handbasket if I was feeling nefarious. Though, if you have enough slight of hand you can probably get away with a lot at any pony convention.

The entertainment was nice enough. Faust was on fucking fire and was incredibly fun to watch. There wasn't too much "big name brony" stuff happening today, but it was fun enough.

I did find myself incredibly bored after the Lena Hall concert. Ponycon really needs to work on their quality of programming, the audio capabilities of their venues, and most importantly, staying with the times of other pony conventions and what kind of attitude/content approach they're bringing to the table. VIP guests though? they got it down. Organization of those guests? Needs work.

5/10 - might go back again if it's not too cold

She could have stuck it out if she was easier to work with. After her fallout at another project (Medusa) its hard not to believe the lesser employees who said she was a bit of a tyrant when she didn't get her way.
