Show contradicts itself too. In Hasbro's ideal, the comics are part of the story. Whether they fit in perfectly or not, the events in the comics do happen at some point in time or space(maybe an alternate dimension/dimensions).

Bullshit. The comics aren't canon to the show, but they have their own canon based on the show. It's also official, so until the show contradicts something from the comics, anything mentioned in the comics(ie a character name or design/character trait) is official and canon for the time being. That isn't headcanon, that's logic. It's even said in that specified pic that the show and the comic are separate, meaning they have different canons.

If you deny the above than you have no idea what canon means or how it works. Hasbro owns MLP, Hasbro has two teams working on MLP stories, therefore 2 canons.
Show canon = everything that happens in the show.
Comic canon = everything that happens in the comics.
Hasbro/story canon = everything in the series. This board is for MLP, therefore it follows Hasbro canon, so whether or not Celestia fucked Sombre in the show doesn't matter because it happened at one point in another canon-verse.

The main reason I consider EQG more within canon than the comics is because the show staff actually made it. The comics play VERY fast and loose with established continuity and characterization. EQG has some errors too, but more explanation is given and a lot of it can be put down to the series taking place in a different universe. On top of that, the show staff generally try to respect each other's work, while several comic writers have outright said that they don't like the material they're adapting.

Yeah, this got me confused. It seems as if EQG isn't canon within the actual show, which really doesn't make sense. They made it fit nearly perfectly, and the third movie was literally tied into the season 5 finale of the show.
I think the problem is the creators don't understand canon, so in order to keep it simple they just have the show as true canon and state that everything is separate, a vague statement to keep everyone at ease.
Though I can accept if EQG isn't canon. It really takes no toll on the actual story as all of it happens on Human Earth.
