Discord is a completely different character than Spike.
Spike was risen and educated by Twilight and her parents and was refered to as the "best assistant". He knows about pony customs and basic social interactions. Fans will not forgive him if he act stupid and incompetent ALL the time.
Discord was always a villain who never had friends and no social life before Keep Calm and Flutter On (beside the Smooze)not to mention that he is an avatar of chaos. It is like expecting a man who lived in the jungle to somehow express a proper ettiquette. The problem with his recent episode is that he learned and forgot his lessons just after one season. But overall his fans shoudn't complain.
