Art doesn't really have a form. If you look at its history, it always had people going in every length to see what can be used and stretch out what they already use to its maximal barrier, and in some cases beyond that. With all of this undefined chaos, there are patterns people find that acts as a solid foundation, and patterns people find when they study famous works. That doesn't really set standards for how well it will be recieved, only that it fits this certain flavor that they either copy outright or mold into something else, but out of this particular and known flavor. It's pretty hard to know when something is great or popular until people try to experience it themselves, either you get one opinion or a mob opinion and you'll have both but hear most of either.
