Our MC is contacted by time police after they do something to save a random pony who wasn't supposed to be saved. Time police later revel our MC has the strange ability to retain memories over separate timelines, and need their help to stop time crimes.
I always thought that going to do things for the mysterious organization and fixing time anomalies or fight crime might be too similar to Threshold or even Hijack at times.
I also wanted to have a preestablished timeline that would change depending on player actions as they leapt through time and changed history.
Probably a bit too complex for a runnable quest.

Option One:
You can't change history, and thus there are no paradoxes. You can only cause things to happen how they were going to. Most of us have probably seen "Roswell That Ends Well" and know what this looks like.
Option Two:
You can change the past, and this destroys the original timeline. You are now a timeline orphan. This wouldn't work for the quest you described unless the whole shadowy organization followed the MC everywhere to keep from being affected by timelines being destroyed.
Option Three:
Paradoxes can happen, but either they don't affect time travelers, or they take a couple of days to do so like in Back To The Future. This version is bullshit.

If I was going to run this quest, the time cops you work for would indeed be trying to preserve what they consider to be the original timeline. The only way they can tell the difference between their original and their current timeline would be with the help of what timecop HQ call 'seers', which is what our MC is. Someone who can see and feel when the timeline shifts.
As for whether the original timeline is the right one, that would be something I would want to leave I'm the hands of the players.

Unlike Into the White, this wouldn't be a pure survival quest. I think survival quests are too hard to do because in that genre it's difficult to form a plot and supply the players with strong prompts.
So, this will be more of an adventure quest with survival elements.
I was thinking of calling it "Into the Black," or "Into the Unknown" or something like that.

That's fine, the blizzard is the important part.
However, the sister thing is rather necessary. Like the other Anon said, it provides a clear goal.
I don't want this to be pure survival, where the only concern is protecting your own life. There needs to be some motivation that keeps the PC progressing forward.
There also needs to be an end point to the quest other than death or rescue; because the players don't want to die and they can't control when they're saved.
Plus, I've planned some nice mindfuck scenarios that require the family connection to work.
But this is all just a speculative pipe dream, 'cause I'll likely never even begin this CYOA. Hooray for aneixty.
